  1. Let's hope they all allow more time for their journey. Trains between London and Glasgow were only going as far as Preston yesterday. Numerous local suburban stations were flooded .
  2. Seem to remember him writing in the programme, probably a couple of years ago, that he didn't make a change because he would have been criticised if it didn't work. Surely thats what the team managers job is all about. Update : it was the meeting v Scunthorpe June 2022, defending his decision not to replace Danyon Hume with Broc Nicol.
  3. Didn't Glasgow do their best to ensure you won the meeting. Reid and McKinna both got excluded in the final heat - tapes and 2 minutes but Dixon fell and the Bears lost the meeting and the title. Turning point was probably in heat 11 when Geoff Powell knocked Jim Burdfield off when passing him. Was impressed with Burdfields restraint when protesting the decision in what would prove to be my last night in the box. Glasgow didn't want Ellesmere to win the title after they got the league points awarded on some technicality - track staff stopping a race rather than the referee or something like that!
  4. Why 40.00? The mean of the nine clubs is more likely to be around 42.00, particularly if the top three are 45+.
  5. Sorry but it wouldn't. Riders with an average just below the grade cut off would become prime targets. Teams filled with these guys would be even stronger than before.
  6. As averages come back to 42 or so each year, using 40 for a further two or three years represents a continuing dilution of 5% each year. No team would be able to track the same side year on year.
  7. While 40 points was the team build limit, by the end of the season team averages are again centering on 42, so 36 is a 6 point drop.
  8. Where are these rules? Has anyone ever seen then written down anywhere?
  9. Wasn't the stick mainly concerned with the low discount offered for the restaging - something like £4. Edinburgh in roughly similar circumstances charged £6 or so, giving a discount of over £14. Figures may not be exact but close enough.
  10. Would think if Tuesday is off it takes priority as it's the first one. If we go for Friday and Redcar is off, do they get Saturday?
  11. Don't have to have one each. Lee could take both of them as long as he doesn't have more than seven rides in total.
  12. This edition will feature Open Licence Tracks of the 60s - a further look at non league tracks 70 Years Ago - The End for Ashfield - the ill fated open licence season All or None - Berwick's most unusual record in 1971 September Obituary - Dennis Gavros and Gordon Kennett If Only - what might have happened Big Birthdays - who is celebrating this month? 13. We seem to go out of our way not to mention line ups until the last minute if there are riders going to be missing. The Phil Lanning piece could surely have given the teams earlier this morning. If we don't make the final, are there any plans for a further meeting f any kind or does the season just tail off?
  14. Would be hard to have Bomber and Basso in the team and not being weak at reserve. Having the pair and say Danyon Hume and Ace Pijper at reserve would take about 26 points.
  15. Looks like it as the section tables on the BSPL site include columns for them.
  16. Can understand going for Tuesday Sept 19 as Ben Basso is at the Danish GP and Chris Harris has the Long Track the previous weekend but not sure there is anything blocking the next two Fridays - Sept 22 and 29. Oxford are at Redcar on the 22nd but 29th seems free. As Edinburgh dont race Poole until the 29th, it wouldn't be holding the competition up by racing then.
  17. And I hope we don't have a meeting on Friday Sept 15 if Ben Basso is required to be in Denmark for their GP the following night. Redcar v Oxford on Sept 15 perhaps and Tigers v Redcar on Tuesday Sept 19?
  18. Seventeen riders if my always suspect arithmetic is correct. Scottish Open meetings can handle 16 plus two reserves, so is there a problem?
  19. Would have thought there would be a bigger than usual attendance tonight, with Tarasenko and possibly even Boughen sparking a lot of interest in our first home meeting in three weeks
