  1. Factually slightly wrong, in the NJL case it’s more likely that teams can’t get 125cc riders to travel to various northern clubs, even though it’s mostly Friday night, and it’s only been this this year when there’s been a couple more 250 riders, however, not enough for all the teams, secondly, the MDL was supposed to have been extended this year by various clubs but as usual they dropped out before a wheel was turned and Laurence did a good job of staging meetings with what was available, again, riders in younger groups were simply unavailable, remember that they are reliant upon the parents to get them there and that’s difficult in this moment
  2. Absolutely a nightmare for managers Andy, how can it work if say one team has 2/3 125 riders and another has same 250, ??? It simply can’t work, unless riders of either category are willing to travel, it’s not an easy fix and it’s a bloody shame
  3. Personally I can’t see how the NJL in its current form can possibly run, massive shortfall of 125 riders willing to travel north and that’s the reason why NJL has to adapt, possibly a 500cc schedule like the MDL but I’m not sure even that will work, I hope it does because it was a fantastic experience for the young riders and they do deserve a chance, lots of questions need to be answered by the scb and promotions on this because without the junior teams where are the next few riders coming from
  4. Apologies for being abrupt but ask yourself why this is happening and you might be closer to the answer! As a dad who’s son has raced for 5 years in NJL for one team and has done thousands of miles guesting for other teams you simply don’t understand how it works pal, turn up and hope to get a ride on a track that is knackered and you are rushed on and off to get it done before curfew then supporters normally are not even bothered to stay and watch, plus you don’t get any help with expenses from most clubs, it’s something you are aware of too being with but lots of parents look at it all and are now saying thanks but definitely no thanks
  5. Annual cost of license is about £140 now, that is ACU/SCB, but it is travelling and machinery costs are very expensive, the deeper your pockets the better your rider will be, because you are looking at parents who either have available time and financial resources to take the rider wherever possible and not have to worry about working arrangements, it’s not easy for parents to say travel to tracks Mondays and Thursday or other days to have a skid after a meeting, also providing the rider gets on (depending upon curfew etc), additionally the amount of tracks having practice sessions is limited compared to years ago and one might not be local so extra travelling at weekends is necessary. So people say if you are committed you do it, but if you don’t have necessary funds it’s difficult
  6. Excellent idea, so probably won’t be even considered!!!
  7. You really are a massive pr..k, Sam like a lot of lads is trying hard to make a successful career out of speedway, sometimes they just get it wrong, do you actually think bewley, lambert and especially Bart got it right every single time, they just got into a habit of going around the pits saying sorry to move experience riders and that’s what Sam and all the young riders have learned to do since time immortal, try being in Sam’s shoes last night travelling home, do you actually think he would have been delighted? Do everyone a favour and keep your comments to yourself unless they are helpful to young lads please .
  8. So all the money that the promotion are spending on a training track to actually encourage young kids to try speedway your just saying forget it kids until someone might become a reasonable rider we don’t care and won’t come and watch!! Thanks for your support
  9. We, Billy Budd racing were heading up for our meeting afterwards (NJL) we set off at midday instead of 1pm as usual, got to junction 38 by 2.30 after usual delays around Blackpool and on, then completely stopped for 4 hours 30, managed to get past tebay services and it was chaotic, cars and lorries breaking down etc, we made a manoeuvre which was not really allowed a mile from junction and got back southbound arriving back in Chester at 8.40, so anyone who suspected it was pantomime with bomber is cocking a blind one, I was told at 3pm he was ahead of us and trying to get through as we were relaying our position
  10. Completely understand the opinion of certain individuals but let’s see what the actual evidence is please before judging, Lee has been racing for years and has possibly been tested in the past so I think if he was to fail a test it is likely to be related to that rather than enhancing his performance? Look at the fact he is a number 6 in the championship and hasn’t got any other spot! Think about that before you decide
  11. He knows what he was doing and it’s embarrassing, and as he wants proof that Milik is most definitely staying check out media day, lovely picture of the said rider! Perhaps he should be telling brum fans where or who told him such rubbish
  12. No you didn’t ask a question you made a statement end of, total nonsense as always, your not even a Birmingham supporter just someone who seems to like to stir up controversy, if you don’t have concrete evidence why would you seriously put such rubbish???? Go back and comment on your own team, if you have one and leave this particular section for fans of Birmingham, thank you, I think that’s fair enough, don’t you
  13. With respect to both lads doing the NJL wasn’t a option as both dads would struggle to get to venues in Scotland on Friday nights, work commitments are such, so they didn’t by pass it was unrealistic for them to commit I think, I also take your opinion of entitled as rather demeaning, nobody who we know and we’re part of the group thinks they are entitled to gain a place at any club, what all the lads think is hopefully I’ve done enough and be good enough, if not they either walk away and the sport loses another rider regardless of ability or keeps trying to make it, sometimes it’s a can’t be bothered attitude, it can be parents can’t get time away from work to attend a particular event or something else, not all 15 year old boys develop (Chris Harris) is prime example so with your thinking he would have been discarded
  14. If as you seem to believe that the NJL and MDL are not a stepping stone to NDL then we are in more trouble than even the most observant people believe! As with the 2 clubs you mentioned you are correct about the having a place left for final position, however, don’t read too much into the decision both clubs made! On the other point yes it was fantastic seeing Jody and sonny at Ipswich yesterday but they are already in teams at other clubs and they will do great, they have great parents behind them and good people, but so have lots of kids coming through and they will all want a chance of making it through NJL and MDL
  15. Said same thing to a friend yesterday who made comment about scunny, maybe it’s a sign of decline or something else, however, when they said that clubs are going to be made to run 2nd half racing I will believe it when I see it! MDL racing is the level down from NDL so I thought riders would be keen to get in there, so is it clubs or riders that don’t want to bother??
  16. Redcar have the last rider apparently and he is currently injured and will need a fitness test before signing, so we will see who’s the last one is in due course, that would suggest Alex imho
  17. That’s just splitting hairs, everyone knew what was happening, whoever binman is says it all it’s going to stop clubs from going down the route of using unattached riders unless they have absolutely no choice and when you think there’s only 10 fixtures reserve riders will jump at extra laps
  18. Because he was flying in youth series and everyone was talking about him, and the teams had no choice now it’s the other way round, teams won’t take a chance they will just cherry pick, regardless, look at who’s been picked and it’s blatant who you know and who might do you a job rather than they might be okay with a run of rides
  19. What it does Andy as you well know because it worked for you (Luke) is that the team missing a res now can cherry pick a res from another team who is flying and yet again a rider trying to get a 1st chance like billy and others won’t be asked, stinks, and you know it, denials only add to the problem, it’s a joke, develop not stagnation, if you are missing a res for god sake who cares, put a kid in, if they are tailed off so what, at least they have had a chance and can assess themselves going forward
  20. Fact, only riders that are in teams can ride in individual meetings and it’s the top 2 riders who are invited first and then if they don’t fancy it it’s next in line etc!
