  1. I think something has fallen through at the last minute, because at 9am this morning it seemed to be all systems go for Woffinden and his name was going in the programme. The redeclaration must have gone through since it's no facility for Woffinden rather than a facility for Holder. All seems odd, and I can understand the conspiracy theories with both teams being in the same ownership.
  2. If he's in the programmed lineup I presume he expects to be fit.
  3. Rumoured line-ups Max Fricke, Justin Sedgmen, Richard Lawson, Chris Harris, Troy Batchelor, Jake Allen, Drew Kemp Tobias Musielak, Kyle Howarth, Adam Ellis, Josh Pickering, Tai Woffinden, Lewis Kerr, Dan Gilkes
  4. Because it's common sense. A British Championship to find the best British rider should have the best British riders available. Is that really so hard to grasp?
  5. Should be in all British contracts that if you're British and sign for a British club then you should have to make yourself available to ride in the British Final.
  6. Assuming we still have the same 3 league structure next season, I can see him wanting to ride in all three leagues. And again assuming the Rising Star system works the same as this year with the worst team having first choice, then first pick would likely go to his hometown club King's Lynn. (although I'm getting the impression he would rather go to Belle Vue or Leicester than King's Lynn). Championship (unless Glasgow try to throw money at him and turn his head) I reckon he'll go to Oxford where he has links with Peter Shroeck. National League would then be able to double up with either his Championship or Premiership club at either Oxford, Belle Vue or Leicester.
  7. You''re advocating giving away Brennan and Ellis's easiest rides to Bewley, and throwing away the other Brennan/Ellis rides ? That seems totally backwards. If we're going to win we need Bewley, Lambert and Woffinden winning off any gate and then giving the best opportunity to Brennan/Ellis to pick up points in the other. You really want to give our best rider the best gates and easiest rides, and then throw our weakest riders to the wolves for no points?
  8. If you want to speak to Nick Morris, press hash. too soon?
  9. So who is the best current team manager then?
  10. Yes, it was a rather haphazard process in those days. Done during or after a meeting and very easy to "forget" to do the test before getting in the van and driving home. These days once everyone has signed into the meeting declaring themselves fit to ride, the external company appear, randomly choose 4 riders, and you do the test before you can ride. Happened to a rider I was helping a few years ago. He'd only just had a pee and missed the team track-walk as he was struggling to go again. The drug tester was a huge scary woman who you wouldn't argue with!
  11. Things were very different back in 1987 and there was no real drug testing system in speedway. Nowadays it's a very rigid procedure done to WADA specifications by an external professional company. The worst thing you can do is refuse to comply with the test. He's looking at a minimum 2 year ban. He'd have been better taking the test and failing it. Then he could at least hire a lawyer and try to get out on a technicality with a cock and bull story.
  12. That's because cup matches don't count. Lidsey and Wright couldn't ride in 3 cup matches. Lidsey is the best 3rd heat leader, and BV No.4 Wright is higher than King.
  13. Using 2023 all official fixtures (exc bonus) King is 15th in the averages. Not the best 3rd heat leader - That is Jaimon Lidsey of Belle Vue. But King is not too far behind Belle Vue's 4th best rider - Charles Wright.
  14. As most fans know, if a rider is out injured or ill a facility is allowed. A doctor's note then has to be provided to the SCB within 48 hours of the meeting. In the case of a non-speedway injury/illness, the rider is then banned for 7 days. In the cases above of Ablitt and Boughen not turning up to ride, there is no facility. The clubs can use a "no-facility" rider in the place. (in the case of Ablitt and Boughen this is an unattached 3.00 rider). But if no suitable rider is available, the non-existent rider still has to take 3 rides. The only time I know of when reserves and TS can replace someone is if they have been excluded from the meeting by the referee. This may be for failing (or refusing) a drugs or alcohol test.
  15. They should have done. If he could average 9.49 while off his t1ts, how much more could he have averaged under normal circumstances? They should only be reducing averages for seasons missed through long term injury, and certainly not when the break was caused by unsavoury reasons. Also don't think someone who has had a drug-related ban should be riding in a league where 15-year-olds are racing.
