  1. Wednesday 15 November to Friday 17 November.
  2. That deflection twaddle would be a "No" then to my question. You couldn't get all the promoters from all over the country to drive to Rugby for less than the cost of a £31 flight to Tenerife.
  3. Go on Einstein. Show us how £80 of petrol to and from Rugby for 3 days is cheaper than a £31 flight to Tenerife.
  4. No. Basically the 5 teams from last year's Premiership but with Birmingham hopefully moving up from the Championship. Still a possibility of Oxford joining the Premiership, (as well as Championship), but personally I would be surprised if they do
  5. 9 March 2005. He's from Middlesbrough area.
  6. He will be when Ipswich are the visitors to the NSS
  7. If it was in the UK he'd be whinging because it would cost a lot more. I could book a flight to Tenerife now for £58 return. (Had I booked in advance weeks ago I could get that down to £31 return). To drive to Rugby and back would cost approx £80 in petrol. For a three-day conference in Rugby, travelling each day, that would be £240 of petrol. Or I could book a hotel for 2 nights at maybe £80 per night in a budget hotel, so that's still a total of £240. Then the BSPL would have to hire a room in ACU house for 3 days. Split between 20 or so promoters that probably only adds an extra £20 or so. Two nights in one of Tenerife's numerous hotels is going to cost less than trying to find a Premier Inn in Coventry. So overall it's considerably cheaper to go to Tenerife.
  8. Don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out Richie.
  9. It's far cheaper, easier and quicker to hop on a plane from Tenerife back to the UK than it is to drive home from Rugby to Poole or Glasgow.
  10. A cheap flight to Tenerife, two nights in a hotel, and holding the meetings in the hotel, will be cheaper than the cost of hiring ACU house for three days and the petrol cost of driving to Rugby and back for 3 days.
  11. Oxford is very much a possibility. Can't see Northampton happening now. That was just a back-up plan if a 6th team didn't come up.
  12. Belle Vue, Birmingham, Ipswich, King's Lynn, Leicester, Sheffield.
  13. You can approach riders at any time of the year. Many have contracts in place long before the AGM. Of course, if they are on the retained list of another promoter you need their permission first.
  14. Erm.... That would be 15% 3/(2 x 10) = 15% The thing is, we generally only hear about the tests when there's a positive. We know that in August 4 riders were tested at each of the Belle Vue and Poole meetings with no positives, but generally we don't get told about tests where none were positive, and of course this is how it should be to maintain randomness.
  15. Is Chapman even allowed to sell the club? If Chapman has taken a bung to get out of the Showground (and I'm not suggesting he would... perish the thought), but if he was the kind of dodgy character to take a bung, then surely there'd be something in the agreement saying he can't sell the club. There'd be no point in paying-off someone to get his speedway team out of the Showground if he could just then sell the club to someone else wanting to go straight back in
  16. Not really. Cocaine is the most widely used recreational drug after cannabis.
  17. Hearing that Sayfutdinov, King and Ellis are nailed on. Could also keep Doyle with something like this potential league winning side.... E Sayfutdinov 10.10 J Doyle 9.12 D King 7.05 A Ellis 5.57 K Rew 4.00 B Barker 3.96 D Thompson RS = 39.80
  18. I don't think they are. Consider Ellis's last 2 years' form around the NSS. League & Play offs. 0,3,1,2 =6 0.1',0,1 =2+1 2,2,0,3,1 =8 0,0,0,2 =2 0,2,2,1',0,1' = 6+2 NSS AVERAGE = 4.17
  19. Blodorn is a BV asset. A teenager who is improving all the time. Would be one of the first names in their teamsheet for me along with other assets Bewley and Lidsey. What I find odd is everyone falling for the hoax story of Ellis to BV, just because he's been seen in the GP pits a coupe of times with Bewley. I can see Ellis at Ipswich. Ellis won't be at BV as he doesn't have the speed for the NSS.
  20. Wright's latest 20-match rolling average is exactly 8.00 His average over just this year's 13 matches is 8.56 . That's nearer 8 than 10.
  21. The point being that the Premiership would collapse if only 5 teams were going to take part. A sixth team was needed. One option was to encourage a team to move up (Birmingham) but if this didn't happen the only other option was for the remaining 5 promoters to create a sixth team from somewhere. (Northampton). With it looking that Birmingham will be the sixth team, there's not much enthusiasm for anyone wanting to throw money away creating a new team just for the sake of it.
  22. The proposed "new track" is Brafield, but I doubt it happening now. With Wolves and Peterborough closing, Brafield was a fallback option for the BSPL to keep the Premiership at 6 teams. But with Birmingham looking likely to move up and become the 6th team, Brafield won't be needed.
  23. As I said, they could have Sayfutdinov, Doyle and Rew this year as Rew was not an Ekstraliga rider in 2023, but they won't be able to have all 3 in 2024 when Rew rides in the Ekstraliga, if the 2 rider limit remains.
  24. Not a chance. Currently 39 points for the top 6. It may go up slightly to 40 or 40.5, but no way will it be 42 for the top 6. Assuming the rule remains about a maximum of 2 Polish Extraleague riders, Rew has to go if Doyle & Sayfutdinov stay.
  25. Exactly. The Workington promoters were at BSPA HQ this week where their application to enter the Championship for 2024 was accepted. It was the only option open to them since Godfrey and pals have decided to scrap the NDL in 2024. Godfrey doesn't like stand-alone clubs in the NDL in case they make money. So the NDL has been scrapped to force Workington, Mildenhall (& Kent) to move up to the Championship or close. Workington are moving up. Mildenhall & Kent are gone.
