Agree, Can see why the want to do it though. Pole's are pretty much useless at every other Sport going, They cling on to an ageing Robert Lewandowski like Bonnie Blue clings onto Men 24/7.

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
TTT replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
GP Boys wouldn't be going anywhere as none of them ride in both the PREMIERSHIP and Sweden. I think Doyle rode in Denmark this year but he lives in the UK so everything is fine on that front as well. The Polish rules stuffs up the Swedish League really, It would've stuffed up British Speedway but the Aussie's don't really have a choice and they have to ride in the PREMIERSHIP unless they want to emigrate which is highly unlikely considering they've got young families who are settled in the UK. Danish riders have to ride in Denmark due to Sponsorship and stuff but the only Dane's that ride in the PREMIERSHIP are.....Jeppesen, Iversen, Klindt & Kildemand. 2 of those don't even get a look in when it comes to Poland and Klindt only gets signed after the season has started if a club has an injury crisis So effictively out of Aussie's, Dane's and Swede's we're losing Iversen and Palovaara only.....Possibly Polish based Tungate if he opts for Sweden. -

Polish rule in 2027 doesn't bother us, King's Lynn will lose a couple of Dane's and that's it. If Aussie's want to live over here then they have to take part in our Speedway League so that makes the decision for them. The problem British Speedway is facing is from within, Not from Poland. -

The CHAMPIONSHIP only exists because PREMIERSHIP clubs ensure that it exists by stumping up the cash every year to ensure that British Speedway has a two tier structure. No PREMIERSHIP = No CHAMPIONSHIP. No PREMIERSHIP = No Top Riders. No Top Riders = Asset stripping of historic PREMIERSHIP clubs like Belle Vue Asset stripping of historic PREMIERSHIP clubs = No Interest in the Sport outside of a dwindling bubble. No Interest in the Sport outside of a dwindling bubble = Death of British Speedway. -

Not being nasty, I'm just being honest. It's top end PREMIERSHIP clubs that keep British Speedway alive albeit on life support, The PREMIERSHIP is the FINAL BOSS of British Speedway. -

Because of a few things tbh, Main thing is due to Rider availability. 27 out of 49 Riders who finished the 2025 PREMIERSHIP season in a declared 1-7 D/UP'd in the CHAMPIONSHIP. 63 CHAMPIONSHIP Riders + 22 PREMIERSHIP Riders (Exc. D/UP) = 85 Riders Current No. of Clubs in the PREMIERSHIP & CHAMPIONSHIP = 14 14 Teams Containing 7 Riders Per Team = 98 Riders You're already 13 Riders down before taking into account the mass exits of GP/Ekstraliga Riders, So 5 Man Teams would have to come into play. -

I get why fans of Championship clubs would go with an I don't care outlook towards the Premiership. But just think about the picture here.......If the Premiership collapses, The Championship as you currently know it, Will collapse with it. Years of failure and incompetence has led us to this situation that the Sport currently finds itself in over here in the UK. Drastic change now needs to happen and fast, Instead of the usual song and dance that we get at the AGM where they try and keep as many Promoters as happy as possible to the detriment of the Sport. Leeway has to happen this time around and every decision has to be made in the best interests of the Sport and not in the best interests for a particular Promotion / Club even if it leaves some Promoters unhappy. The Sport for the first time in years has to be prioritised over any Club / Promotion. -

I fully understand the Glasgow race night situation and stuff but this is the point I'm trying to make. Promoters aren't willing to budge on anything and they're not willing to put the Sport first in this country. Every AGM should see every Promoter sit around a table and say....What can we do to make the Sport better in this country? What can we do to get a new generation of fans to take an interest? What can we do to make our Sport more attractive to TV companies etc. But they don't, They just waltz into an AGM every year with a small minded ideology, Where everything is based around what's best for me and my club only and that is why everything is going to collapse eventually. -

Why do Glasgow get various FIM events? Because it's a top level UK Speedway Model. Why do Glasgow sign as many Championship Heat Leaders as the rules allow them too? Because they've got the money too. Why are Glasgow signing Ekstraliga riders for second tier British Speedway that's a League mostly designed for the following? See above answer. A -> British D/UP's that struggle to get opportunities in other well known Speedway Leagues abroad. B -> Australian riders who are UK based but aren't good enough to get team places in the Premiership. C -> Top end NDL Riders to gain more experience before taking the next step in their careers. The only reason why Glasgow don't want to move is because of the Berwick/Edinburgh situation and that sort of outlook is why British Speedway is a mess, Too many Promoters / Owners who stroll into AGM's every winter with a me, myself and I mind set instead of putting British Speedway first. -

It is financially viable for Glasgow to move up, They just refuse to do it. Championship is a League set up for clubs like Plymouth who operate on a very tight budget. Championship isn't a League that was set up for clubs like Glasgow who try and sign as many HL's as the rules allow them too whilst leaving lower end Championship clubs to scrap around for No.1's and No.5's, They're called money bags Glasgow for a reason, Signing riders like Tarasenko and Nagel at Championship level proves that. Let Glasgow have the Berwick and Edinburgh meetings still as challenge meetings on the side of Premiership and Premiership KO Cup meetings. Everything about Glasgow is Premiership level, Glasgow competing in the Championship is the equivalent of Chelsea FC competing in the Europa Conference League last season imo. -
Belle Vue 99%, 1% chance of King's Lynn imo. He'd struggle around the Ipswich and Leicester circuits imo and Sheffield's lower end should feature Flint & Rowe again with a Rising Star.

Sense of entitlement from certain Championship clubs, They need to serve the Premiership because the Premiership is British Speedway. Certain Championship clubs are waiting for the Premiership to collapse and end up in one big league mostly full of journeymen and out of depth NDL riders and Championship Promoters seem to think that everything will work out perfectly for them when it won't. Current Championship No.1's & Certain No.5's would have offers galore and promoters will have to pay much more money for them during a bidding war because every one of them would demand much more money as they'll need to cover some of the losses from only having one British team place instead of the usual two. -

But that's what they're rumoured to be doing now with Northampton. The whole thing is a mess imo and it's years of failure that's got us to this point. -

What's your solution then? I stick by my solution of going after the club with the most cash / stable business model and forcing their hand into propping up the Premiership instead of stepping into the unknown by playing poker with Northampton. -
Not sure Dan Thompson will be back tbh, If it's a 40.00 Limit then surely this is the formula Chris Louis and co. build around? 1. 2. A. Ellis 5.92 (Very well liked and good for team spirit) 3. T. Brennan 7.05 (Everything indicates that Tom will be back) 4. D. King 6.50 (Club Captain getting the chance to defend the Premiership title) 5. J. Doyle 7.86 (Witches rider for the rest of his British career imo) 6. 7. C. Rushen / J. Edwards (RS)

Just my opinion. Championship clubs are nothing without Premiership clubs, It's the Premiership clubs that keep the sport alive in the UK even though it leaves some of the club bosses out of pocket. The day the Premiership collapses that see's all of the GP / Ekstraliga riders exit is the day when British Speedway collapses for good. Nowhere near enough good riders to go around for one big league, 27 out of the 49 riders that finished the season in an official Premiership 1-7 also rode in the Championship. Say we have One Big League featuring 15 Teams (Inc. Northampton) and 5 Riders per a Team = 75 Riders 85 Riders in Total (Exc. D/UP's) finished the 2025 Premiership & Championship seasons in an official 1-7. One big league then see's mass exits from British Speedway altogether due to race nights being scattered throughout the week (21 Riders Minimum) 5 GP Riders (Kurtz, Bewley, Doyle, Fricke & J. Holder) 7 Ekstraliga Riders (Lidsey, Blodorn, Rew, Sayfutdinov, B. Cook, Janowski & Tungate) 9 Ekstraliga 2 Riders (Musielak, Zagar, Brennan, Kvech, Iversen, Douglas, Becker, Pickering & C. Holder) That then takes the total No. of riders down to 64 to a point where lower ranked riders from the NDL have to fill those spots, The same lower ranked NDL Riders who Championship clubs aren't even interested in using. Premiership has to continue until the day British Speedway collapses for good and someone has to step up and fill one of the voids left by Oxford/Birmingham. Whisper is that Northampton may be the one to dive in head first at the deep end by running in the Premiership but everything with them would be a guessing game as to how many punters they get through the turnstiles and stuff. Glasgow on the other hand have everything in place to run Premiership Speedway, Facilities, Track, Attendances, Sponsorship, Finances so instead of potentially putting Northampton at risk before they've even returned, Club bosses need to block Glasgow from competiting in the Championship and instead give them an ultimatum -> Premiership or Nothing and they'll soon bite the bullet and say Premiership. -

Bosses need to grow a backbone and refuse starting permission for Glasgow in the Championship imo. It's a club with a Premiership business model in place on all fronts. Under no circumstances can the Premiership take place with 5 Teams. -

Still wouldn't be shocked to see Scunny in the Premiership, If anyone is going to save the Premiership from a 5 Team League then it's more than likely going to be Godfrey imo. -
I've mentioned on the Premiership thread that I wouldn't be surprised if Godfrey stepped up to save the Premiership from a 5 Team League. We shall find out for sure next month.
