  1. Belle Vue had better get their act together pretty quick, as they have three away meetings before meeting Peterborough at home on the 24th April. They could see themselves well adrift at the bottom of the table.
  2. No one wins in these situations, after putting together a very attractive field for the Peter Craven meeting the management must be gutted. The weather forecast for the rest of the week shows unsettled weather. I feel also for the traveling fans that have spent a lot of money coming to Belle Vue. I tend to agree with Ove Fundin Fan that to run speedway in March is not really on, and the odds of inclement track conditions must be high, sadly though, it is the only time you can get the riders who ride abroad to come before the Polish season starts.
  3. Gearge Carswell should write a book of his own, it would be quite revealing.
  4. No third heat leader, will struggle away from home.
  5. It might be quite interesting to know the weights of the riders, Sam Masters always complains of the weight differences when he rides Belle Vue. Who do folks think is the heaviest rider, and is it sometimes an advantage to be heavier or not.
  6. Even I as a Belle Vue fan would have Kyle as a second string at Belle Vue for his tenacity and grit as a rider, I think in the Play-Off final at Sheffield he had the misfortune to be off gate 3 in his final two races. (correct me if wrong) Does anyone know the reason why Kyle has never ridden a season at Belle Vue in the top layer. Did he have a fall out in his younger days with the Belle Vue management. Seems odd as he is a local boy to Belle Vue I like his all action style but think around Belle Vue you need to be smooth, and get your wheels in line early, just watch Bewley to see what I mean.
  7. The "Must Have Now" society that we live in, is the reason why the national debt per person is so high, we cannot go on passing this debt down to future generations, sometime or other this debt has to be paid, people are going to die with credit card debts. If we ran our household budgets like the government does its finances, we would all be out on the street. As a pensioner I am only reasonably comfortably off, because I scrimped to buy my own house, and now don't pay rent. People moan about interest rates. when I had a mortgage it, at one time went up to 15%.
  8. Sadly for the Premier League we have been lumbered with one of the worst tracks in speedway, if Leicester come up next year. How anyone could with a blank canvass create such a poorly designed track is beyond comprehension.
  9. For me, Belle Vue better off keeping Fricke and Kurtz, and if they have to, with points limit, let Zagar go. Fricke by far the better away rider, where this year Zagar has been a little disappointing. Obviously with the possible changes to riders being available form Poland, there will be loads of speculation. I would hate see yet more guests or R/R next year when riders are missing because of Poland rules.
  10. Another decision damaging the integrity of speedway. Even if it is within the rules, and they normally can be adjusted to suit, to be allowed to sign a rider who has not ridden over here all year is wrong. If Belle Vue do go on to win the title, it will be a hollow victory, and that is from a BV fan.
  11. In my view, Belle Vue have to keep the deficit at Ipswich tonight to 10 or less points,to have a chance in the home leg, and as has been said, Doyle will probably be unbeaten tonight, and if the other Ipswich riders get their act together, they could win comfortably. Belle Vue's away for m has been poor this year, and now the colder damper conditions have arrived we will get nowhere near the 60 point home totals we had in the warm weather. King likes the NSS when it is wet, and the only reason he finished fourth in the BRC was that his bike was too slow, on the night.
  12. Great, all this bickering between speedway fans over the interpretation of the rules. Unfortunately due to the nature of the sport, injured riders as Play-Offs arrive is always likely to happen. For me, a guest should be allowed, if chosen to, but only from riders who have ridden over here most of the season, whose average fits, and the same rider to be used in the home and away fixtures in the Play-Offs.
  13. The other alternative is a rain off, according to forecast, heavy rain in Sheffield around tea time. It was better when the top team had a pick of the Semi's, at least a small reward for ending top. I agree with other posters, absolutely unacceptable to have fixtures outstanding considering the summer we have had.
  14. Great result for the Belle Vue fans, delighted for young Tom Brennan finishing second, track as usual giving great racing. Also good to see Craig Cook having some good rides again. Kelvin Tatum for a presenter has got to stop saying Um & Ah every few words, I thought all TV presenters were taught not to do it. What do you reckon the average age of the crowd was. Life Insurance Companies should sponsor Speedway.
  15. Totally ridiculous to stop everything, life goes on, the day of the funeral is quite sufficient to have a respectful day of mourning. The Queen is Dead long Live the King.
  16. It is a close run thing, either watching live and having to put up with a drawn out meeting whilst TV adverts and interviews take place, or watching the meeting on TV with the boring Ermolenko talking rubbish. This year I have opted to watch the live meeting, as it is expensive throwing bricks at the TV.
  17. I should not have used the term "ringers" , I should have just said riders. As far as I know no rule breaking has taken place, just a matter of luck getting a good average on a rider as a replacement. I think the cut off date for signing riders before the Play-Offs was moved, I could be mistaken though. For me being a Belle Vue fan, we have had a disastrous time in the Play-Offs, we must have the worse record of anybody, failing so many times in them. Perhaps this year if we get in them it will be different, but with our team manager's tactical record, I am not in any way confident.
  18. The Play-Offs are nothing more than a Mini K O Cup competition, at one time it meant something finishing top of the seasons League, as you had been the most consistent and best team over a full season. Not like now when ringers can be brought in at the last moment, as riders become available from Poland, to strengthen up for the Play-Offs. This year is even worse, as teams know who they are likely to meet, as 1st v 4th and 3rd v 2nd, so it might pay a team to throw a meeting to get a better chance in the semi finals. So no perk whatsoever for being top of the League. Does Orion have a problem with the older generation, as if you disrespect them, and take them off the crowd figures, speedway would be finished.
  19. I think one of the reasons that BV have been so dominate at home this year, is that the weather has meant that the track has been consistent most of the year and the BV have got well dialed in. Plus with Brennan & Blodhorn improving all the time we have a very solid team at home. Losing away by a few points does not matter that much when you are scoring 60 points at home. The one thing that could could effect the home form is, if in the Play-Offs ( BV should now get there) the track conditions are a lot different to now, as later in the year we get a lot more rain.
  20. Yes, this would have made a good TV meeting, but pleased it isn't as BV will get a good crowd as it is not on the box. This should be our toughest home meeting, Doyle always goes well, no matter where, and King, Batchelor, and Tungate, on their day will cause problems. Tungate has had some very good meetings at the NSS, but also has had some shockers when he let BV down. BV riders will have to watch out for Doyle dive bombing them into the third turn if he has not made the gate. (rare). Am expecting a great meeting, cannot see a walk over for BV as in recent home meetings.
  21. At the moment quite bright, we have had showers earlier, but the track usually drains well. Forecast has a possibility of a few showers later. They will need to get the meeting run with no faffing about. Looking forward to it, Harris should provide some entertainment and have not seen Basso so another rider to look out for.
  22. The same discussion took place on the forum last time Zagar was at Belle Vue. The question is is he value for money, and in my opinion a definite NO. This Belle Vue team must be one of the most expensive they have had in recent years, and looking at their current form the management are not going to get any reward out of it. Early days, but I have my doubts.
  23. I do hope Phil that the above comment doesn't backfire on you after today's meeting. A lot of BV fans seem to think that BV will now romp to big wins, could be closer than a lot think. Enjoy the meeting.
  24. I agree it does not really matter in speedway, but if you have rules/regulations they should be clear and concise, and adhered to. Even football have Transfer Windows. Perhaps speedway could do with a squad system, which has been discussed many times. A lot of changes to teams are regularly made, for injuries, missing riders etc. a lot depends on who is available to fill those gaps when teams need a replacement. League Titles have been won, using R/R or guests.
  25. On the BSPL website 20th March 2022, it states Douglas wins season opener, so that is when the 2022 season started, therefore BV should not have been allowed to change their then declared team until 25% of the League fixtures had been run. Also BV seasons opener was the Peter Craven, 21st March 2022, as the BSPL site said "Belle Vue launch their season with the Peter Craven". Therefore the season does not start at the first League meeting. It will, be interesting if the regulations are now changed, before the start of 2023 season, otherwise all teams will be using this ruling to make late changes to their declared teams.
