Now listen up people...try and be a little more imaginitive in the number of Credits you gamble. It's not the general amount that I'm bothered about, just the actual number. You don't have to round everything up, ya know ! 150 here, 200 there, 400 on him etc, etc Follow the example of creetingblue, who is the only player who ever picks any odd numbers ! If nothing else, it means we're far less likely to have loads of people on the exact same total. And it's more interesting for me Now Chivsy, me old mate.... Try and stay in the game this year ! You're record is appalling ! You're even worse than Rico woody-the-bee wilted under the enormous pressure of the # 1 plate last year...how will GLSDiamond cope with that mantle for this season ? London Witch has been Top Lady in each previous title race...Can she make it a hat-trick, and maybe take the Championship itself ? Timbo and tomazpozrl have twice proved to be the best of the international players...Is it time for one of them to move up a level ? And is Steve Turner taking this game far too seriously ? Supporters Grand Prix 2007 (sponsored by the British Speedway Forum) Here we are again, ready to begin our third Grand Prix season, which runs alongside the slightly less interesting, but to be fair, rather more dangerous, 500cc version! The rules are still pretty easy to understand. But post any questions or whatever underneath. There’s never any money involved obviously, but it would be nice if everyone who joins-in makes a promise to themselves that they will pay a minimum of £5 into the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund during the season. Anyone who doesn’t will suffer dire retribution. Eventually ! You have been warned…. The only real change from last year – All players start the season with 1000 Credits. (Due to a successful winter chase for sponsorship!) You must pick TWO riders you think will make the Final of the next GP. Finishing order is of no importance. You decide how many Credits you want to bet on each of your two riders. There’s no maximum or minimum limit to your bets, other than the amount of Credits you have, of course. There’s also no limit to the amount of times you back the same rider. On a separate thread, before each GP, the riders will be given points, similar to betting odds. The points will NOT change once posted. The ‘favourites’ will carry the least points. The more points a rider has, the more you can win by backing his successful attempt at making the Final. Bravery, some common sense and a sharp speedway brain pure luck should be all you need. Oh, and a sense of humour for when it all goes pits-up! If you miss a round, or join the game after the GP season has already started, approximately 10% of your Credits will be lost for each GP missed. If you’re unlucky enough to run out of Credits, then you’re out for the season. A couple of examples of a pre-GP bet… 500 Credits on Hans Andersen (2pts) 150 Credits on Rune Holta (7pts) …if Hans makes the Final, you’d win 1000 (500x2) Credits plus you get your 500 Credits back. …if Rune makes the Final, you’d win 1050 (150x7) Credits plus your 150 Credits back. So if this was the 1st GP and you started with 1000 Credits, you’d have a new total of 3050. Or 500 Credits on Hans Andersen (2pts) 100 Credits on Rune Holta (7pts) …if Hans doesn’t make the Final, you’d lose your 500 Credits. …if Rune makes the Final, you’d win 700 (100x7) Credits, plus your 100 Credits back. Giving you a new total of 1200. You must place your bets before the start of each GP, but bear in mind I may place a time restriction on betting, if I won’t be online on GP day. Post them on the GP “Place Your Bets” thread. The information will be transferred onto the scoresheet from time to time, and your post will be removed, but you do have the option of changing your bet anytime before the deadline. Whether you change it through personal choice, being influenced by other bets, rider injuries, whatever. Please note – if a rider pulls out of a GP on the day of the meeting without riding, all Credits placed on him will be returned. If you bet on a rider who pulls out before midnight on the Friday, but do not change your bet, his replacement rider – as decided by the FIM/BSI – will become your chosen rider. In '85 Steve rode in all 20 League meetings for Wolves. 67 rides, 79 points, 11 bonuses, so his average was 5.37 He missed the last home meeting in the League Cup. So 19 meetings, 65 rides, 67 points, 10 bonuses, for an average of 4.74 He also rode in every KO Cup meeting and various challenges. A total of 14 meetings, 51 rides, 56 points, and 4 bonuses. So a seasonal, all-meeting average of 4.96 I'll let someone else find the 1984 stuff...I can't find it

I'm not talking about the actual venue, sorry Rico...I meant the fact that it's in Poland. Therefore, making it a foregone conclusion.

I find it impossible to get interested in the World Cup (without really knowing why !?) ...and I look at next years venue for the Final, and already I'm bored with it Granted, it'll be a big crowd...and nearly all of it will go home very happy so I'm slightly out-numbered I think !

Congratulations then to GLSDiamond, who certainly worked hard for the title, gaining Credits consistently well but without ever taking the lead until Final night. Well done mate HUGE Credits lost by so many in this last GP...237,000 for Coventry fan full-throttle, who led before that. An unbelievable night for Poole fans saw 50,500 lost by Shale Eater as well as 50,000 for Cougar Pirate, 28,573 for Crazy Munchie AND 20,278 for Dark Horse !! Dark Horse, was in second place going into the last one...but for whatever reason, didn't place any bets and therefore dropped 10%...which did at least mean holding-on to runner's up spot. And well done with that, Dark Horse Not many big winners...but new World Champion GLSDiamond gained 80,000. Leading lady London Witch won 41,800. But next best was just 4,350 (!) for Diamond Exile. Only two people managed to get two Finalists ! Well done to Ruby Tuesday for picking Greg and Nicki, and to a lesser extent Britpete who went for Greg and Gollob. ...so that's it...it's all over...the final Final of the year. Contested by Nicki, Greg and Tomasz along with wildcard Jagus. No great surprises in the first three, you may think...but amazingly, very few people actually managed to score any Credits !!? Martin Smolinksi will be in the German team, surely ?? A home win for Poland obviously. No doubt they're practicing at least three times on the track this week. Easy second for Sweden. Would have made a much better contest held in Britain. Maybe neutral venues for such meetings should be decided once the line-up is known.

Lots of dropped points in this round...the worst of which was for three-times-leader Cougar Pirate, a whopping 160,000 - thanks to Crump and Adams. KevtheRev and drakey lost 60,000 each. And poor Bezza, lost ALL of his 27,000 ! The winners...full-throttle gained a massive 200,000 ! Dark Horse took 90,000. GLSDiamond won 60,000. We've also lost another 7 competitors besides Bezza. Not my favourite final, Wembley '81, but a great meeting all-the-same. Lots of memories...but I'll tell you the silliest one. I went to fetch hot-dogs for Dad, my brother and me and just as I carried the three of them back into the actual 'arena' at the top of the stairs, the guy on the mic announced some rider or other...the crowd went berserk ...and muggins here dropped the hotdogs I caught one, which suddenly became mine...the other two hit the floor, which after a little sausage rotation to hide the grit, became Dad's and brothers
