  1. Be awful for Mildenhall To be without Jason. All they would do is run a guest. Jason needs to be riding as much as possible at this stage of his career
  2. They built the team and would have known that many matches would be won by huge scores.
  3. Crowd of 350 including season tickets v Edinburgh. That is dreadful and not good enough for NDL in a stadium like Perry Bar.
  4. Appears Eastbourne fans will have to dig very, very deep to get speedway back at Arlington. Article shows the task ahead is a mammoth one. Also says long term deal for stadium use is not certain. Anyone know if the banger racing track off A23 near Gatwick could run speedway too? Would give a greater catchment area
  5. Cancelled...meaning Newcastle have gone completely. If there was a chance of a rescue deal, the match would have been postponed.
  6. Convenient and at the same time sensible. Learning from previous errors
  7. I see the issue. Those costs apply whether it is Prem or Ndl. I guess that many other Ongoing costs such as first aid, ref’s fee, ambulance are the same whichever league you are in. Saving is riders’ wages etc. And is the rent the same no matter which league? CL is where Eagles need to be. The NDl is nothing like the standard it was in 2018 when Martin and Connor delivered the title.
  8. Chance for those Eastbourne fans who have been so critical of the way things were done at Arlington by the last promotion and its predecessors over 30 years or more to come forward and help run and finance the club in the way they would like. Can’t remember such an opportunity, at least in the south east, where changes in promoting rights have in the past been dealt with in private. Hope those email inboxes have been filling up since the announcement came. Good luck Eagles.
  9. Newcastle will bankrupt opponents. Leicester bosses must be weeping at how much this 4 points has cost
  10. There needs to be a cut-off time for a meeting to get started: suggest if delay is more than an hour the match is postponed. Last year I stood around at Kings Lynn watching Buster relay the track but the riders still said no.
  11. When the elderly fall in the street and lay in the cold for many hours, as has been reported on many occasions, waiting for an ambulance to take them to hospital, Speedway promoters cannot expect an NHS ambulance to turn up in minutes, especially when the rider’s life is not in danger and he is under medical supervision. There is no longer a county ambulance service. It is regional and run by the NHS.
  12. That’s assuming A and E can take him in at once. You hear of patients waiting for hours at some hospitals with ambulances queued up outside
  13. I have done some research on the writer of the Speedway Star Plymouth Centurions preview where it was mentioned that Eastbourne and Workington were for the NDL is 2023. He has authored a book on Cradley, it appears, and has worked with Nigel Pearson who leads on PR for the BSPL. Maybe Eagles NDL is just gossip in some circles, or people are making an assumption having seen that Eastbourne failed in 2021 in the Championship.
  14. Taken aback to read in the Speedway Star that it would be National Development League speedway for Eastbourne, if they return next year. It was said in the Plymouth (NDL) preview piece (slow reader here!) by reporter Neil (?) Skelding who mentioned Workington in the same breath. Have to say I was hoping for Championship as the current NDL is a far cry from the league the Eagles won in 2018 but if it is NDL or nothing, I suppose, many will say OK, NDL it is. It may, of course, be the BSPL saying you have to start at the bottom when you come back. That's what happens in football where if you go out of business you cannot come back to the league you were in. Hopefully, the Eastbourne consortium spokesman on here can shed some light on this as to whether this is just newspaper talk or has some fact.
  15. Good call in my view. Attedance would have poor. I had this one marked down to attend but I would not have put a wheel on the M11 with the forecast as it is.
  16. In the club's early days, the Stars were there just to make up the numbers. That was the view of the promoters of the big clubs.
  17. Thanks and I understand the nuance of the situation.
  18. Thanks very much and the bring a coat tip--reminds me of my times at the much missed Lakeside.
  19. From what I read, it seems Poland would lift its restrictions but UK would no longer have any protected nights = riders would need to ride in Poland even if it clashed with a UK match.
  20. I am thinking of popping over the bridge to see the Lakeside lads later in month. Is there plenty of parking at Iwade? Any tips from people who have been in the past? TIA
  21. I can remember when Eastbourne Eagles used to get a couple of thousand but then that was a fair while ago.
  22. I can understand how you feel. Flicking through the Star again this morning, I can see other 'Eastbourne riders' picked out. This must really heighten the sadness down on the south coast. Hope you are back in 2023 but speedway will need a sort out if there are to be enough riders to go round. Where would Oxofrd have been this year in the Eagles and Kent Kings had run?
  23. Speedway Star has Tom Brennan as the one to watch - both for Belle Vue and Glasgow. Just shows what poor old Eastbourne fans are missing. Now he's gone to Glasgow.
