  1. I know the stadium is a little 'rustic' and the toilets wouldn't look amiss in a Japanese WWII prison camp but there's no need to flee the country over it!
  2. I'm racking my brain but I can't think of any non-binary pan-sexual albino with a withered arm and a glass eye that Workington could bring in to be their next gimmicky tokenistic signing to help sell a couple more tickets to a bedazzled short-on-entertainment Workington populace who think a woman riding a speedway bike is the cultural equivalent of seeing the Wright brothers take off for the first time in a wooden plane. I'm certain they will have searched high and low for one though. Failing that Claus Vissing would be a good signing if he agrees to change his pronouns.
  3. Zach Cook isn't having the best of preseasons but I hope he improves over the course of the regular season. He has a lot more weight on his speedway shoulders this season with a much weaker 2,6 and 7 than last year starting for Poole.
  4. I don't think Glasgow will win it this year but i said that last year as well. Then again I didn't forsee the signing of Tarasenko which turned a very good team into an unbeatable one. That signing was a bit of genius.
  5. Not really. I can't see any non-speedway fans wanting to pay £25 or whatever it is to see a reserve rider just because she's female. If any do then it'll be solely for the novelty value and we all know every novelty quickly wears off.
  6. As a number three I think Claus will be a good addition to the team if he is the last signing.
  7. I'm thick. What does that mean in this particular case? Is it economic or environmental sustainability? What amenity or amenities will be lost if speedway returns to the area? And what constitutes what they consider to be an amenity?
  8. The young Aussie rider Michael West has always impressed me. Has he ever considered coming over to these shores?
  9. It's good to see so many graduates from the British Youth Championships setup riding in the championship this coming season (Joe Thompson, Dan Thompson, Sam McGurk, Sam Hagon, Ace Pijper, Ben Trigger, Freddie Hodder, Max James, Luke Harrison and Max Perry) Proof that this kind of development is essential to the future of speedway in this country. My only wish is that more people would turn out in support of these events because attendances are quite low whenever I've been to them.
  10. Er .. 13-year-old Willie Cairns on a 250cc is better! Armadale June 3rd 2023 British Youth Championship Round 4 Celina Liebmann's times: 64.7 64.1 No time 62.5 62.9 Willie Cairns' times: No time 61.6 62.0 61.7 No time To put it into even more perspective... The fastest time around Armadale in 2023: Justin Sedgman 12/05/23 in a time of 56.5 And for the record... Jody Scott and Ashton Vale were posting sub 60 second times that day. Celina Liebmann was distinctly unimpressive.
  11. So, just one last rider to be confirmed in this league, perhaps now the mods could finally pin this thread...
  12. I've never known her to be 'negative' about anything and she's one of the most chilled members on this site.
  13. Yes. Some peak early and never become what people think they will become. There are many examples of this throughout history.
  14. That's almost exactly what I think the league will look like before the playoffs come around except I think Poole will be third above Berwick and Oxford and maybe even second if Flint doesn't hit the ground running for Glasgow.
  15. I'd have preferred to see Vissing back at Ashfield over Flint because I always liked his no-nonsense style. Flint is a good rider although I believe he has pretty much reached his ceiling now.
  16. I don't know how Workington's stadium will be able to hold the half dozen new spectators who will flock there after hearing that they've signed a female at reserve. Huge coup.
  17. When a certain team is hiring German riders solely due to their gender it's no real shock to me to see young British riders finding themselves squeezed out.
  18. Edinburgh (on account of them only having one real heat leader), Workington (on account of them having the weakest reserves) and Plymouth (on account of them being Plymouth) to be the three teams to finish outside the playoffs. As for the rest I'd say anyone can win it this season but if I had to pick one I'd plump for Redcar.
  19. Well, if she's at home riding at 6 then her heats after heat 2 will be heat 7, heat 11 and heat 14 If she's riding at 6 away from home then her other rides after heat two will be heat 6, heat 9 and heat 12. Anything else I can help you with?
