  1. That's a pretty weak team with Aarnio the number 3 rider imo. Why not Kye Thomson as your number 3 and someone new like Kevin Juhl Pedersen or Anton Karlsson on 5 point averages as your 2 and 4?
  2. There are so many people in speedway that could step up into the role of Team Manager, you make it sound like Cami is the only one who can run a speedway team. I could probably run one, what are the qualifications? Do i need a Scotvec or a degree?
  3. With Edinburgh closing perhaps this side could make up the class of Scunthorpe 2023: 1. Douglas 2. Wright 3. Thomson (Kye) 4. Kennedy 5. Pickering 6. Rowe 7. Hook
  4. I've nothing against Cami but i'm just tired of Cook's antics now, the team don't seem particularly stronger or weaker if he's there anymore. Richard Lawson came in for him once and nobody missed him and it was like a dark cloud had lifted. Ulrich used to be really enthusiastic in the pits during meetings but Cook would often skulk around being the arbiter of doom and gloom which often affected the rest of the team (imo). I'd rather see Josh Pickering riding for Glasgow in place of Cookie next season as he's probably looking for a new home and he's a lot more upbeat as well as being more exciting on the track. *incidentally, if Edinburgh don't run next season i think Jacob Hook would also be a great signing on a 4-point average as he has been getting better and better all season and last night was always in or around the action against top opposition. An ideal replacement for Danyon but on a much lower average. <edit> *assuming Glasgow remain in the Championship
  5. I think he probably cared as he wasn't able to take part in the Scottish Open last night and therefore missed out on the chance of earning some prize money. Shot himself in the foot.
  6. Congratulations to the Aces and commiserations to the Tigers. It's been quite a long season but a memorable one and there was not much to separate both final teams in the end.
  7. Really? Isn't there a chance Glasgow could get fined for pulling out of the competition? I had a feeling something like this was afoot at the last home meeting when the announcer was talking like the Poole meeting was the last race of the season.
  8. The first available date for the Jubilee (200 years since the Queen took the throne at this rate) Cup competition will be October the 28th for all 3 clubs (weather permitting) but as it is over 3 legs we'll be in November before it culminates. Who on earth dreamed up this idea?
  9. I'm pretty sure that Poole's drubbing of Glasgow in the semis puts paid to the suggestion that they are one of the two best teams in the league. I think you'll find that the two best teams have been Poole and Leicester regardless of the league table and even Edinburgh knocked Glasgow out of the KO Cup. Glasgow have been dominant at home abut not so good away which is where it really counts.
  10. Ultimately, the speedway authorities will try their best to ruin what's left of speedway. That seems to be their reason for existing.
  11. I doubt it will be as low as 40 points next season considering the loss of Newcastle earlier in the season and now Edinburgh no more and Leicester rumoured to be going into the top flight. That would reduced the league to 8 teams and would probably leave star attractions like Sam Masters out of the Championship considering his average would be more than a quarter of any teams building limit.
  12. By the time the BSPA get their act together and sort out the fixtures it'll be called the King Charles Jubilee Cup
  13. All joking aside, good luck next year. It's great to see Workington back in speedway
  14. Track looks good. Now all they need is some deckchairs and some portaloos
  15. So much of a liability that he's now helped lead the Pirates to their third final this year after helping the team to victory last year. So much of a liability that Poole have always performed strongly in away meetings this year (especially at Ashfield) So much of a liability that Neil Middleditch, one of the greatest managers of all time, reached out to him to manage the side on the road and speaks very highly of him. So much of a liability that he knows when to let the top riders do their thing and when to take youngsters like Nathan Abblitt to one side to mentor them. So much of a liability that even his fiercest critics love his openness, honesty, candour and personality. So much of a liability that you'll be crying into your limited edition Monarchs pillowcase (only 25 ever produced) when Poole lift another few trophies this year. *I'm not even a Poole fan but your comment about Gary Havelock was the silliest i've ever read on this forum
  16. 20 minutes of light drizzle forecast for 6pm so hold onto your ticket *I say this in jest but hopefully the track staff don't water the track in any way today like they did last week and just leave it alone. "If it ain't broke..."
  17. All three of your heat leaders are looking in fine form and Lawson and Worrall are always great around Ashfield so there's no chance of the Tigers hauling back a 30 point lead especially now that your lower order riders have had 2 practice races around the Ashfield track last Sunday. Good luck in the final
  18. If they all performed badly just 8 each would do it if the other four riders got at least 2 points each.
  19. I never said he was 'THAT bad' just average at many away tracks and certainly didn't look like a No. 1 although he's a very good rider, he's young so his best days are ahead of him and he's very entertaining.
  20. I wouldn't follow Hearts if i had a gun held to my head
  21. I've got more chance of copping off with Jennifer Lawrence than Glasgow have of pulling back this tie from 30 points down but why are some Tigers so different away from home as they are away (such as Connor Bailey and Benjamin Basso) there's a huge drop off with their performances on other tracks. I was expecting Ben at least to put up some good numbers at Poole last night as he was racing around Wimborne Road last season but he looked average compared to how he looks around Ashfield. You simply cannot build winning teams around riders who don't turn up to away meetings.
  22. The weather forecast for Saturday in Glasgow looks like mild-heavy rain from 12noon to 4pm. I can quite easily see it being cancelled and the season will probably continue into November at this rate. When i think back to the last 7 weeks of great weather and all those speedway-less Fridays at Ashfield i am more than a little annoyed by what's happened this season. Heads should roll at the BSPA.
