Nothing to do with having a competitive team if the cause of the closure is running out of money. It was a half-assed promotion team with no real drive. Charlatans basically.

Thanks Fromafar

I'm not sure how many of the 150 (estimated) supporters who left last week will be back as there was a fair bit of anger about the delays on Sunday. I'm 'old skool' in that i've seen racing in much worse conditions and it's still been good riding but i understand that modern riders like everything to be perfect and i wasn't really bothered about the two hour delay but i AM concerned about the loss of supporters long-term and i believe there must be something down to keep the track dry and avert these regular delays. Why not large tarpaulin strips (roughly eight - 2 on the corners and two on each straight) fastened to the top of the fences and rolled out to the centre green and held down by pegs or something to allow the rain to run down? It's 2022 and the unpredictable nature of speedway being staged with certain regularity is what is helping to drive fans away. If only half of those fans venture back then that's 75 less fans through the gate next time. Something needs to be done instead of an over-reliance on the (admittedly very good) track staff. Any thoughts?

I believe Chris Harris has found some way of cloning himself so he can ride for several teams at the same time.

10.6.22 - Scunny v Glasgow, League
Nickinho replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The problems at Glasgow have been there for all to see for a while now. Cookie doesn't seem to be in the right place at the moment and he always looks angry and unhappy, Ulrich is a nice guy but he's no longer a heat leader especially away from home, Ben Basso isn't the huge steal expected him to be after all the initial hype, Connor can only score decent points around Ashfield when he's riding at reserve and i really don't know what to say about Broc because he seems to be having a truly dreadful season (apart from the last home meeting against Edinburgh in which he got a four heat maximum) and Danyon is simply Danyon. I don't know what i would do if i were the manager of Glasgow as it doesn't look like there is much anyone can do except try to install more confidence into the team which the present manager doesn't really seem to be able to do. The Tigers will still finish in the Top 4 but as Poole proved the other week, there is no way Glasgow could win a two-legged semi-final or final against a team like the Pirates or Leicester. -

It could be cost maybe? I'm not sure either. -
KOC Sat 4 June - Glasgow v Edinburgh

Superb speedway on Saturday and both teams deserved to go through but that last lap in the thirtieth heat over two legs was really nerve wracking for both sets of fans. Who can know what the result would have been if Sam and Josh had been available for the Monarchs or if Cookie hadn't had 3 engine failures but it was a pretty fair outcome by the end. I hope Kye is alright, the nastiest accidents usually happen on the straights and the riders can so easily get caught up in that netting that i wonder why they can't come up with something safer for a fence. -

Couldn't they find a better guest than Sedgman to replace Pickering??? -
Somewhere there is a Nigerian prince wondering what speedway is all about...

Edinburgh v Glasgow KO Friday 3rd June
Nickinho replied to Al Stewart's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If it's anything like last years cup meetings these ties will be a cracker. -
They announced it during the meeting with Poole from what i recall.

You're right about it being a dust bowl!

I was really pleased to have gone along to the British Youth Championships yesterday, 32 heats of exciting racing and i enjoyed the young riders coming round to do a lap of honour after most races which is something which doesn't happen as often as it should at senior level. The only downer to Sunday's action was the pathetic crowd which i estimated at less that 75 souls and what makes that more astonishing was the low price at the gate (£10 + £1.50 for a programme). Apart from a relatively small amount of die-hard speedway fans it was a disgrace considering that the entertaining racing lasted well over two hours with very few delays and each rider gave 100%. Well done to all the riders who took part, you really put on a show *Perhaps next year the British Youth Championships will go to a more deserving venue.

Yeah i got it totally wrong. I'm sure Man City fans would love to have 10 players signed at the start of next season and be looking for an eleventh just a few days before the opening game, to finally be told that Guardiola was bringing in Bob McTavish from the Dog & Duck on a free.
-
He did and Bewley was never likely to ride in Britain this year.
-
How am i wrong? Jake Allen is technically just an emergency signing. Or were you talking about Lemon's constant failure?
-
Lemon's had five months to sign 7 riders and is the only team manager out of 25 clubs across the three leagues who has failed to complete a team. It seems he continually gets rewarded for failure.

No real savings at all on season tickets. I was looking at the website this morning, in particular the season tickets page and i noticed that there are no real savings to be had on buying one. Take a student season ticket for example. They cost £145 (based on 13 home fixtures – 10 league, two Summer Cup and the first round of the KO Cup) which works out at £11.153 per meeting a saving of less than 85 pence per meeting (cost per meeting is £12) If someone with a season ticket even miss just the one meeting over the course of the season then each meeting will cost them £12.08. Factor in the booking fee and it just doesn't seem an attractive offer imo.

Not sure if Edinburgh fans should be worried about this after confirming Paco as their third heat leader...
-
You mean if they're not stored properly they start to smell really bad?
-
I'll have to dust off my old moped...
-
Still a good price for NL action imo.
-
Anyone know what the admission prices will be for the Armadale Devils opener on the 8th of April?

Failure always seems to be rewarded in the modern world as he's now being given the position of CEO as well as Director of Speedway and Team Manager. In reality he should be offered the position of Track Raker because even he couldn't screw that up. [edit] He probably could...
