Clubs like Belle Vue would never support one big league. It would be detrimental to everything they are doing there so it won't happen and everyone can hype it up as much as they want, it just won't happen. And in case anyone has forgotten or weren't alive the last time the two leagues merged, it sucked.
It's a very good team and it's possible that Joe T will make a similar breakthrough soon that his brother took last year and Jack Smith is a good enough reserve in this league. The only concerns i would have is Paco and Palovaara as i don't think they will be capable of putting anything more onto the averages they got last season (2025) and i certainly don't think Victor is a 1 or a 5 in this league. I still think it looks stronger than the initial team Edinburgh named going into last season which included an untried Polish rider as their second heat leader.
This just shows how far speedway has fallen over the years. Football in the 80s was heading the same way until they incorporated massive changes to the way the sport was run and how it was promoted.
I overheard Kurtz in a bar last week saying that it has always been his dream to quit the GP's and ride for Workington in the Championship. At least i think it was him, he was ginger but i'd had a few jars.
If the Tigers couldn't win anything with a Top 5 of Harris (9.55), Thompson (9.50), Howarth (8.84), Nagel (8.61) and Flint (8.17)* along with a couple of reserves who weren't out of their depth in the Championship then i doubt Harrison will be the answer. I think the problem lies elsewhere.
*2025 average not GSA
Doesn't matter. With Cammy as team manager you could name Bewley, Kurtz, Lindgren, Zmarzlik, Doyle, Kubera and Holder and they will win as much silverware as the Tigers won last year - none.
