Don't think that it was. Just once the averages were released he didn't fit. -
Oxford vs Leicester 29th June
PowerfulPierre replied to Anzum's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
My first visit to Oxford last night travelling down from Leicester, and it certainly wont be my last. From entering the stadium by car with a blue badge holder, we were really welcomed by the gate staff and found a convenient parking space without any fuss. Fantastic stadium and all involved should be congratulated on getiing the facility up and running in such a short period of time. The track produced some good racing and a little more work with the watering could have possibly produced some more lines but overall this was a great advert for the sport. Found that the home supporters on the back straight where many of us stood were really friendly, congratulated us on our win and wished us a safe journey home. Likewise the security staff on the gate made sure that it was safe for pedestrians and ourselves to turn out of the stadium and into the road. Great show Oxford! Well done to all concerned and thanks for a great night! -

Looking down the newly declared averages, its looks like a perfect fit from the North East could possibly be getting a phone call. -

In case it's escaped your notice, Connor Coles will not be riding for the Lions after all tonight and Jason Edwards has been brought in instead. -
Leicester vs Berwick 05/06/22 CL
PowerfulPierre replied to IainB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If you don't think that Leicester's track is conducive to great junior racing, you should have been at Berwick for last years double header. A veritable dust bowl with minimal grading and more importantly, minimal watering all to get both matches done and (literally) dusted before their curfew. I do hope that they put a better show on this coming Saturday. -
27/28 May - Scunny v Leicester KOC
PowerfulPierre replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Lions need to pay a bit more attention to what's going on during track grading. They need to be out of the pits and watching the tractor and what they're doing moving the dirt about! -
It will be great to see the Cubs back in action after what seems like an eternity. I'm expecting some good close racing but can't see anything but a Cubs win when spearheaded by the twins. Furthermore, with the promotion now offering all season ticket holders free admission, there should be a good loyal group of supporters cheering the team on. What a great gesture on the part of the promotion to offer this troughout the Cubs season!

Can't see anything but a Lions win for this one, but not convinced that it will be a walk in the park. No doubt Scott will be giving his team mates the low down on the Leicester track and will be helping the 2nd strings around demonstrating a master class in team riding. Troy Batchelor will need to be tamed but our heat leaders are the right Lions for that job!

leicester lions already lost it ?

Think that BSN missed a trick in not streaming the Leicester - Glasgow match. Lots of neutral interest in this one plus the Glaswegian support that didn't fancy the trip down. -

Think that our reserves should seal the deal with this match. -
Leicester v Poole Sat 16th/4/22

I doubt that the Bates' will have to dig as deep for this week's wages bill but I suspect that the Lions will pull it off. Hopefully we'll also enjoy some closer racing than we've seen lately. -
You're absolutely right LionsFan. The shale that is now used has been sourced in Edinburgh and brought down at great expense by the lorry load. (don't start me off on the cost of diesel)!!! I was speaking to Hugh (Stewart's friend and right hand man) on Saturday night, and he was saying that it combines better with the clay that gives a much better race surface. This promotion have thrown a shed load of money at the track, what with altering the shape and banking and experimenting with different types of shale until, they now appear to have found the best material for the job, and had it brought down to Leicester at goodness knows what expense. Anyone who is still involved in knocking the track and the racing has clearly missed some excellent meetings last year and I suspect if they bother to turn up this weekend will witness a close fought contest with some good racing. No disrespect to Birmingham, but sadly because of circumstances during the winter, they were precluded from forming a highly competitive side which therefore made for lack lustre racing last week! It had nothing to do with the track or it's shape!

A really positive move by the Club to appoint John Harvey as Commercial Manager. It certainly demonstrates their ambition to move forward and develop. Judging by some of the Facebook comments, John has already got some new companies on board which can only be a good thing for Leicester Speedway. -
I take your point regarding the credibility of the sport, but riding in all 3 leagues didn't do Ellis Perks any harm and he arguably won us the league with his heroics up in Glasgow. I'll settle for Dan being given opportunities to build on what he's already achieved. This will hopefully be a massive year for him coming on!

Don't think his birthday is until 5 July.

Seeing that Frisky Racing is posting on different Lions Facebook groups, offering the opportunity of having your name on Dan & Joe's race suit for £20, I'm guessing that it would be safe to pre empt an announcement that Joe will join Dan in the team for 2022. Maybe they should have waited for an official announcement? -
It would be fair to say that what Stewart Dickson and the team achieved for Leicester in 2019 gave us high hopes for this season, but it wasn't to be and Poole and Glasgow earned their rightful place as the top two clubs. Don't however think for one minute that Leicester's loudest and proudest wont be turning up in large numbers next year but disappear instead. There's already a buzz around Leicester speedway following last Saturdays party as to who the gaffer will pull out of the hat for us to support next year. In the gaffer we trust and we'll be there to support him and the team!

Bloody Hell! There's more lights shining on that poster than on the terraces at the Eddie Wright raceway! Any chance that we can all have a free candle in order that we can see to fill in our programmes and also not break our necks up the unlit terraces. And whilst you're about it, please sort out your p.a. system Mr Godfrey. I'm tired of all of the Norman Collier jokes and the Chinese whispers about the race times when you can't make out a word that's being said.. For the chair of the B.S.P.L. to expect us to put up with that quality of presentation sums up the state of British Speedway!

Leicester vs Kent 25/09/21
PowerfulPierre replied to IainB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
This is going to be an expensive night of speedway for what, judging by Tuesday's result in Kent, will be a foregone conclusion. The question in my mind is "are we going for a sub 1 hour 15 minutes first meeting in order to get the cubs done and out the way before the Tesco car park curfew? Given the way that Kent raced through their 15 heats with no grading, no watering and no interval, and sod the quality of the racing which is what we wanted to see, I guess we could do it easily! Only difference being that judging from the past few weeks, we will get some decent races at Beaumont Park! -
Taken from the S.C.B. book of rules:- (no doubt subject to change, re-writing, alteration, making it up as they go along or buggering it about if it's for the good of the sport)! 010.1.2 Completion of Fixtures It is the duty of the staging Promotion to ensure that all fixtures are completed and in the event of it being necessary to re-arrange a team fixture, the Promoter(s)/Associate(s) shall mutually agree a re-staging date. Should they fail to agree the sole authority to specify a date and/or venue for the re-staging shall lie with the BSPA Directors. In all events that count towards an Official British Speedway Competition the Regulations must be adhered to and any team or individual found in breach of the Regulations, will be liable to a penalty including the loss of league points or removal from a competition. So, if Glasgow have failed to stage the event by the cut off date, then aren't they in breech of the regulations and loose the league points or in this case, points should have to be awarded to the opposing team?
