  1. With tapes up in under 3 hours, could somebdy within the powers that be at least bother to inform the great unwashed who will be paying to watch this watered down s**t show at least what the scoring system will be, or is it going to be thought up and changed half way through the meeting in the interests of the sport, just to maintain the interest? https://britishspeedway.co.uk/2023-premiership-pairs/
  2. Ipswich will no doubt want to improve following a couple of setbacks, but the Lions appear to now have the bit between their teeth and I think they'll turn this one around for the 3 points. Nick Morris seems to have had one or two gremlins since that away fixture and we need all 7 to perform up to their capabilities on Thursday to get the bonus point. We can do this!
  3. Planning on travelling up on Saturday and I'm reading a number of comments about the track being very dusty (we have the same problem on a hot and breezy day)! Where's the best place to stand so that I'm not wearing half of your shale on my way home?
  4. A real shame for those of us from Leicester that were making a mini road trip taking in Cubs vs Belle Vue on the Friday and then Cubs vs Workington the following day. Hotel bookings now having to be cancelled and travel arrangements re-organised. The joys of a speedway supporter!!!
  5. This, i think is going to be a very interesting clash between 2 fairly even teams. Musielak is doing great things for the Tigers, but it's great to see how much Max has improved in the last few weeks riding not just for us but also in Sweden and Poland. He seems to have got his mojo back! Justin, for me, has been a revelation and Richard has been pulling in some impressive scores too. I suspect that this is a match with a few twists and turns as the evening progresses which should make good television, but you can't beat the real thing by getting your back side track side to experience the drama unfold and cheering the Lions on at Beaumaont Park. Lions for a slender win I think.
  6. Great to see that the clubs commercial department have secured a new sponsorship deal for the naming rights of the stadium with Pidcock Motorcycles. Can only be a good thing when a distributer of BMW, Motorrad, Triumph Motorcycles & Ducati agrees to pump money into the club. A motorcycle dealership supporting a motorcycle sport has got to be great news.
  7. Popped up to the track yesterday and have to say how impressed I was with the activity going on by the band of volunteers getting things ready. Track staff were working tirelessly to make good the track on the pits exit with the installation of kick boards on the outer perimeter and new safety fence, half of the air fence was installed, lots of areas have been tidied up and painted and a whole crew were hard at it painting the inner perimeter fence. The smell of fresh paint everywhere reminded me of my days working in education when we knew that OFSTED were due a visit! Could it be that the newly crowned King has booked one of the corporate boxes for a bit of a do after his Coronation?!!!!!
  8. It's good to see that the Cubs are getting the supporters involved again in sponsorship opportunities. At £25, it seems a reasonable amount to donate, even in this day and age when money is tight, to help the lads all have a set of kevlars. It's always great to see them all turned out looking as a team in their red and yellow outfits; so much more professional.
  9. With the senior team pretty well sorted, thoughts now on the victorious cubs to go forward into 2023. Who would you like to see back next year? I'll kick off with Max Perry. It was fantastic to see how he came onin '22 season.
  10. Ellis Perks did the year that the Lions and the Cubs both won their respective leagues when he rode for both of our teams. Furthermore he rode for Swindon that same year and they too won the Premiership. A 3 league rider with 3 league championship medals in the same year. Has that ever been achieved before I wonder?
  11. The supporters club are the people that generally organise the coaches to the away matches. They have tried several times this season and last season and the prices quoted have gone through the roof due to the increases in diesel and the fact that our sport needs understanding coach companies to refund all monies in the event of last minute cancellations. For that, you pay an extra premium on the high price already quoted. Given that Leicester supporters by the shed load have said that they're unable to get to K.L. in time because of the time that they finish work, or worse still, have said that even if they could make it they're not going to be bothered because of what's happened, means that whoever organises a coach is on a hiding to nothing before they start. Look at what happened to the 3 Poole coaches. They were cancelled by the coach company because of the on off, on off situation of the matches and I've read that Poole speedway have taken a massive finnancial hit on this. Given the hit that the Bates' have already taken for all of the reasons previously mentioned over the past 100 or so pages of this thread, laying on coaches whether they be free of charge or at full cost to the supporters, that will then not be patronised is simply a non starter. There are some of us going by car with currently, 2 or 3 empty seats. If anyone is looking to go but struggling with transport please message me. I don't have a magic wand but we'll try and work something out to get you there and back for a share of the petrol money.
  12. Have you looked at the times for getting home by train? Even if you choose to miss the 2nd meeting of the double header, you're likely to find yourself stranded trying to get back to Poole or Leicester!
  13. Need to stop buggering about expectecting the supporters to travel from one end of the country to another in mid/late October and revert back to the original plan of having 1 meeting at a neutral track. Originally it was Sheffield but how about Oxford? Sorry for the Glasgow travelling supporters (but I guess it's still closer than going all the way down to Poole), and it would attract a number of Leicester and Poole supporters and overcome the issue of trying to get 3 teams to agree 3 sets of dates with the inevitable possible threat of at least 1 of the dates being rained off and having to be re-arranged.
  14. Planning on coming down from Leicester for tomoorows play off between the Chargers and the Cubs but don't want to book on line if it's not entirely necessary. Does anyone know if we can just turn up and pay at the gate? Thanks!
  15. Have you asked yourself why we have had so few summer meetings? Could it possibly be that our promotion fulfilled their obligations to the league and cup campaigns and got the meetings completed in good time, and are now forced to wait for the other teams to play catch up, or for the boss of the B.S.P.L. to sit on the fence for months so that he could stretch (needlessly) his season out so that we could then progress? I guess that a few Saturday's were "earmarked" to cover rain offs which, if my memory serves me correctly, only happened once so far this season. Don't forget we have also had the Cubs to support who have right royally entertained us!
  16. There were 4 Saturdays in August. Leicester ran meetings on 2 of them and on another Saturday was Cardiff. That left 1 other possible Saturday for a meeting and my understanding is that Leicester tried to get a fixture on but there were no teams willing or able to visit us.
  17. By sitting on the fence for a few months, and delaying the koc at Scunny til Sept. it avoided the embarassment of their season ending inAugust with noting to show for it. Instead, they were able to end in Sept., with still nothing to show for it!
  18. Kyle had a big off at Belle Vue riding for the Tigers. Hope that he'll be OK for Saturday. Sending him best wishes.
  19. Hope that the air fence is properly anchored down. Will be coming to watch speedway, not some poor sole hitting the armco or a medic helicopter.
  20. So, Bomber's Berwick Bandits come to Beaumont Park on Sunday with the Lions knowing that if they secure a win, they'll end up top of the Championship league, with the opportunity of choosing which of the winning quarter finalists they'll want to ride against in the semis. Big incentive for all of the magnificent 7 to race to their full potential. I see a Lions victory for this one!
