  1. Not an exact science I know, but looking at the Lions performance over the 3 fixtures held at Ippo this season, Douglas scored 18 points, therefore averaging 6 per match. Fricke 21 points: average 7 per match; Lawson 37 points: average 12.33 per match; Masters 19 points: average 6.33 per match; Becker 20 points: average 6.66 per match. Add the 4 averages together total = 32.32 points and divided by the 4 riders and you get just over 8 points. If the 4 r/r's ride to their potential, the loss of Douglas makes the Lions a little stronger. I know, I've got too much time on my hands!
  2. Would that be the Leicester rolling start Lions by the names of Rowe, Iversen and Kerr who all received referee warnings?
  3. Cairns guested for Leicester at Redcar and my understanding is that a rider can only guest once for any given team in the N.L. Therefore, you wont be seeing him riding for the Cubs for the rest of the season.
  4. We do have the luxury of an excellent clerk of the course at Leicester who keeps everything ticking over very well. The track crew also work well as a team on the odd ocassion that air fence panels have needed replacing. It's been the same all season and I count us as very lucky to have such people offering their servies at Leicester. It's probably been recognised by the speedway hierachy, as all of the Leicester crew oficiate at the Cardiff grand prix along with a few others from different tracks.
  5. Thank you! I don't know how I managed to miss issue 22 when I looked!
  6. Is Jan Kvech currently on a 6 point assessed average? Can's seem to find anything on the Speedway G.b. wbsite.
  7. I looked at the averages before yesterdays debacle and compared the riders averages at the seasons start to what they have on the latest green sheet. Douglas' average has increased by 6.16%: Masters' has reduced by 7.29% and Beckers'by 10.30%. Just for interest, Frickes' reduced by 7.34% and Lawson is up by 5.46%
  8. Thank you. I did email on the Tuesday at the address that you mentioned and it reached my credit card statement this Tuesday, so the luck of the draw in how they process the refunds.

  10. Looks like they're as quick to refund the tickets as they were at announcing that it was off. Don't waste time acknowledging my email when I requested a refund, just give me my money back. At this rate my statement will have been issued without the credit and I'll have to wait another month before I get my money. Very disappointed in you Oxford. If you insist on online sales only, then refund where necessary as quickly as you charge the supporters. It's bad enough that you charge an additional premium when supporters hold back because of an iffy weather forecast, they have to pay more on the day of the event (why)? and are then kept waiting for their refund.
  11. And the A14 moved a bloody site more freely on the way home compared to on the way there. Mile after mile of cones and, you guessed it, no bugger working!
  12. P&P is on Wednesday. As for the weather, it's been evil again! Non stop rain yesterday but the hardy band of volunteers were up there doing whatever they could to get the "show on the road".
  13. So, with 4 days to go it seems to me that these are good times to be a Lions supporter. We have a new owner who has ploughed thousands into trying to remedy the track drainage problems, and whilst going about it, has installed a new training track to bring on the newcomers to the sport, and hopefully sustain speedway well into the future. We have a newly designed website that looks modern and has given the club a fresh new image; we have a new co promoter who has worked tirelessly throughout the winter to "get things done." Questions from the supporters to the management have been invited in preparation for press and practice day which suggests to me a new more open approach towards those of us that part with our hard earned week in week out. All it needs now is for us as supporters to get fully behind the new owner and co promoter and do our job in supporting the Lions for the new campaign. C'mon you Lions!!!
  14. I attended the excellently run Nuneaton Speedway Supporters club event last night in Brandon and came away thoroughly impressed and well entertained by Dan Gilkes and Jason Edwards. What an excellent night, and what great ambassadors for the sport are these 2 riders. They fielded a whole host of questions concerning their careers and hopes and aspirations for their future and spoke confidently and eloquently throughout the evening. About 40 people attended on a bitterly cold winters night but in my opinion it was well worth the effort. If you live within reasonable driving distance of Brandon, then I can highly recommend these evenings with Chris Harris being the guest next month. Well done to all concerned and thanks to Dan & Jason for a really enjoyable evening. From a Leicester Lions supporter.
