  1. I think father time and numerous injuries have caught up with Starkey who along with Nielsen should be giving serious thought to hanging up their leathers so to speak.
  2. The BSPL has a saying for the smaller amateur like teams, and it is "Do as we say not do as we do" but you only have to look at the state the the Sport has got itself into after being led by the BSPL, BSPL Speedway has got itself into a position where it is no longer viable in it's present form yet the BSPL continue to resist change in the areas where it is most needed, the promoters at Kent have gone above and beyond what is needed to keep the Sport alive in the South East yet the BSPL seem to have offered no help in there hour of need, in fact earlier on in the year they seem to have done the exact opposite and allegedly gave them a suspended fine if I remember correctly, the BSPL is in fact not fit for purpose.
  3. I think this deserves it's own Topic; Club Statement about the GoFundMe. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-royals-survive I would like to ease your minds about the GoFundMe that was started this week. The history behind the request is this. I am the main sponsor of the club. Last august, as some of you may remember, I had to have heart surgery because of a disease called Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy. At the time, I also owned Iwade Garage, who you will recall as being the teams title sponsors in 2021 and 2022. Due to staffing problems, and then combined with my cardiac issue, it was necessary to give back the lease on the garage as the time being spent in the workshop drew me away from my actual job - Consulting Chief Security Officer. In December my mum Ros, who many of you will have seen on the gate with her dog Grace, went into hospital, where she had open heart surgery. After complications she finally came home in June, but the visiting and staying on top of the medics who didn't listen, it meant I was further diverted from my day job. We came into the 2023 season without a named title sponsor - because this year its fallen to me personally. Normally, a home match sets you up financially for the away leg, but we have two away trips coming up, and the abandonment of the Oxford match at home, and the subsequent home match taking a lesser gate as fans used their re-entry, means that the clubs bank account was severely depleted. The need to purchase the tyres for the remainder of the season added to the financial woes. My priority is always to ensure that our riders are paid promptly - for without them, we do not have a club. As I haven't been working as much in the last 8 months, then my reserves were also depleted. Although I am back consulting, it takes time for clients to settle their invoices. The support that those who have contributed to the GoFundMe has given the club is heartfelt, and I thank each and everyone of you for that support. I am also greatful to every paying fan who comes to our home matches, and I ask you to get behind the club and come along to as many meetings as you can, and give the riders the support to urge them on to win. We have six matches left, and the fight isnt over for the Royals. However, I need to do what my cardiac consultant tells me, I need to ease up a bit, I will need at some point in the future more surgery, hence my words in the programme recently. Its not just me that puts hours into running things, my whole family helps. Many of you know my mum from the main gate, who as I said has been very ill recently and still has a long road to full health, Andrea who helps on the gate and helps massively behind the scenes too, and my son Drew from the sweet stall. Drew is planning to head off to University in September, and Andrea has another operation coming up at the end of this month. I have kept The Royals going for two years post Uncle Len but we are unable to commit as much time going forward. Therefore if anyone is interested in coming on board then please do speak to me. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-royals-survive
  4. Is there a link to the Go Fund me page ?, found it https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-royals-survive
  5. It will need much more than 1 guest for the Brummies to get something out of this, but tell me do you like to see decent opposition or prefer to see weak opponents ?, our old saying was happiness is 40-38, usually not much fun watching 60-30 week in week out.
  6. I can assure you that there are continuing efforts to bring Cradley Heathens back, however we more often than not bump into the wall of ignore when approaching landowners to lease land for Speedway, more recently we seem to have received the same response (or lack of it) from Dudley Councillors when contacting them about relocation, I personally am of the opinion that we should now be setting up a PR campaign actually criticising the Council for it's lack of help in identifying a suitable site and telling us why such and such a site is not suitable, they the Council have NEVER said no that site is suitable but if you could do this maybe it could be considered, it's obvious after 28 years or so without a Track there is no ideal site in Dudley which is not helped by the Councils attitude.
  7. I'm pretty sure Dave Parry (Parry's Coaches) has contacts around the Cheslyn Hay area whether or not that would be to far for Wolverhampton fans I have no idea but it would'nt surprise me if some land was found around that area.
  8. Whatever help Wolverhampton council give to Wolves Speedway will be better than what Cradley have received from Dudley Council, we can't even get a reply to emails sent to various Councillors with regards possible new locations, it almost seems that we have been placed on ignore hoping that we will go away.
  9. Sorry to say Pirates were like F1 out of the starts whereas Brum were walking out, feel sorry for the Promoter and the crowd they deserve better, maybe it's unfair to compare Brum with Poole but the Brummies were miles off it, I think Starkey is finished, Danny disappointing, Sedgy chalk and cheese comparing his Brum and Leicester scores, Batch a reasonable return but all in all Brum beaten by a far better team, I do believe I can see young Sam getting to grips with the Championship he certainly likes to ride the wide lines.
  10. Or wack a ball over a net and scream, Now I know Speedway in the UK is down and almost out, but I have never in all my life known anyone that plays Tennis let alone anyone that watches it except for the annual bash at SW19, yet we get daily updates on numerous media outlets, I guess Speedway fans don't have BBC accents .
  11. Are his parents not over here ?, I'm sure Lee and Wendy were living somewhere locally ever since Nick was riding over here, maybe I thought wrong.
  12. AS others have said plenty to see and do in and around Brum but beware of the clean air zone if you plan on driving into the city centre. https://www.brumbreathes.co.uk/info/25/welcome-2/45/charges-operation-1 Enjoy your journey up.
  13. According to updates it was Matthew Ware, not a name I am familiar with.
  14. Tonights cricket at Edgbaston was a T20 QF Warwickshire Bears v Essex Eagles, 3 hours of almost none stop action in a modern Stadium all for £10 per ticket, that's the price Richard Willford said on Radio WM tonight, and that is the kind of competition Speedway is up against and really has no chance of winning as things stand.
  15. I think BrizHeathen means the opportunity to have either Bowtell, Nielsen or Starke at reserve for the remainder of the season, if they are all fit and well then whichever one is at reserve surely should score a good few points, rare opportunity to see Starkey having a shortish journey for his home meetings.
  16. The averages fit, the question is are they both fit and well and it would mean that one of either Bowtell, Starke or Nielsen would be at reserve for some part of the season.
  17. M6 without any shadow of doubt is the worst Motorway in the country, but I am sure there are a few contenders for the title of worst Motorway maybe we could have a worst pairs ie M6 & M25 anyone ?.
  18. Don't forget Plymouth and Buxton, but I think it's best to give IOW a miss .
  19. With only a few days left to see out June will we get news of the meeting that the Promotion are due to have (late June) with the landlords of Perry Barr or will it be silence ?, whatever the outcome of the meeting I would hope that we get a press release, This meeting will have a bearing on Speedway in the West Midlands and I hope the outcome will be positive.
  20. I take it you mean a Budget as in each individual Team ?, because if it's the same budget for every team there is no way of policing it, as it stands we don't have a monetary budget but we have a points limit/budget and that doesn't work either, lets face it Kings Lynn should be in the Championship and so should Peterborough but for the sake of British speedway having a Premier League and a bit of TV money Buster kept both of them in a League where they are making it a joke League, RIP British speedway with these clowns running it.
  21. https://bclm.com/ which has bostin Fish & Chips or https://www.draytonmanor.co.uk/ and near to that is https://clifflakes.co.uk/ Im sure your 6 year old would enjoy both, should be well tired by the time he gets to the Speedway .
  22. I would not be surprised if you prove to be correct, because if you do get an opportunity to strengthen up due to points you would be foolish not to take it.
  23. Enjoy the meeting, one thing for sure it aint going to get rained off, I think i might well come along myself. Oh by the way get yourself some food before you go in the Stadium, the food inside is expensive and not great value for money.
  24. From a pretty reliable source, I don't think there was to much help and advice coming from the more senior riders, and that is vital for youngsters trying to make there way in the Sport, personally I think they were probably to busy trying to sort out there own issues.
  25. Well they haven't signed a new Aussie but have an old Aussie, there are a few of them over at Edgbaston as well , as for Sam he is young and will only get better he is British, fair play to Brum for giving it a go.
