Who actually is Oxford's owner ?, genuine question.
-
I would suggest the Team Manager needs to be the first signing, I can't see any point in signing 7 riders then get a manager who may or may not fancy certain riders, I'v said before Rosco would be the man to get Brum moving in an upwards direction, he is a 4 time winner of British Speedway's top league as a manager, and were I Nigel Tolley I would be getting myself down to Rosco's pub and would'nt leave until I had got my man.

I have to agree with you about the track and racing except for the very occasional meeting it's pretty much gate and go, I think the shape seems ok but whilst I am no expert there seems not enough banking to help with overtaking, I recall one meeting late season where even Picko found it Near on impossible to come from the back, riders were just going to the middle of the bend and making a v straight out to the fence rather than riding around the bend but it was still follow the leader. Yeah the journey to Monmore is far easier than getting to Perry Barr on an average Monday evening, Laurence/Nigel really need to plan in most of the Bank holiday Mondays to avoid the usual rush hour snarl up. This venture really is Sh*t or bust for the Brummies I hope for there sake that they can get the Team building right, whilst Becker, Worrall, Schlein are steady riders they don't really get supporters excited enough to want to face up to the M5/M6 bottlenecks week in week out, a big hitting No1 is needed to get the neutrals over to the Barr on a regular basis, there are still enough Coventry and Cradley fans to help swell the numbers besides the Wolves fans looking for a Speedway fix, but Brummie supporters need to get behind NT in this brave venture which due to circumstances beyond there control has given them no other choice, good luck I have a feeling your going to need it.

Keep Laurence away from the Team building would be a decent start. , and Drew Kemp as the rising star would be another.

From the picture I saw it was 100% Drillerman..

New Pictures of the work at Abbey Stadium show the new stand being built and the pit arches So we have the Pit arches but no Speedway to use the pits Oh I forgot Speedway is unviable, yet Swindon's closest neighbours are rumoured to be entering 2 senior teams in 2024, someone somewhere is telling porkies and it's not difficult to guess who . -

The Stadium,s that they have owned /leased over the years were/are Bristol, Reading, Milton Keynes, Swindon, Poole, no alternative sites were found for any of those that were closed, I do believe that they had something to do with Hereford Utd FC at one time but not now, as for Torquay Utd FC I would be worried very worried as to where they are headed whilst Osborn is in control, or put another way no Team or Club has flourished under the guidance of Osborn or his companies. -

Boothby decided on a name change it runs under the name Suffolk Downs, sounds much grander but some say the name should be Suffolk Clowns but we won't go there. .
-
Boothby ownes or leases several Tracks; his own Henlow, and leases on Mildenhall, Oxford, Towcester they are streamed by the other player in the Streaming business SIS https://www.sis.tv/ they used to be the main players in the Bookies streaming service but Premier Greyhound wanted a bigger slice of the pie so set up there own service, basically SIS stream from the Tracks that Premier Greyhounds don't cover..
-
Streamed greyhound meetings are paid in excess of 30k per meeting, Perry Barr/Dunstall Park are due to hold 4 per week in 2024, incidentally that leaves 3 free days at PB; Monday, Friday and Sunday, yes I know they may want to hold greyhound trials but that could easily be done on an greyhound raceday in fact it's logistically better because all the staff are there, Trainers are there etc etc.

Wolves last meeting at Monmore 23rd October

Entain are https://www.entaingroup.com/ a Gambling provider including Ladbrokes and Corals, ARC are https://www.arenaracingcompany.co.uk/ who provide the means for people to Gamble, Monmore is owned by Entain and Dunstall Park/Perry Barr are run by ARC, they have joined forces to form a company under the banner of Premier Greyhound Racing https://www.premiergreyhoundracing.co.uk/#top It is this combination that has decided no more Speedway at there Greyhound Tracks on welfare grounds. The Greyhound Tracks do not rely on people attending Greyhound meetings in fact they actually cost money to maintain spectator facilities year in year out, the Greyhound Tracks make most of there money by streaming live greyhound meetings worldwide and are paid upwards of 30k per meeting to provide live pictures to gambling outlets, hence no need to have spectators at meetings. I have no idea if Entain wish to continue to be both a provider of racing and a receiver of bets at those meetings unless Entain want to improve there short term profits by selling such as Monmore, Hove, Romford and Crayford, I have just had a quick check of next years racing calendar and the 4 Entain Tracks are programmed to host 22 Greyhound meetings per week in 2024 so at a conservative estimate that will bring in excess of £660,000 per week just from staging Greyhound meetings so why would they sell ?. -
RIP John, whilst always likely to stir things up, John loved his Speedway along with his Stocks.

I really hope Nigel can come to some sort of agreement with his landlord for 2024, but I get the feeling whatever happens Perry Barr Greyhound Stadium has a very limited life span left, so Nigel is left between a rock and a hard place. He seems to have very few options which appear to be remain at Perry Barr short term and probably (based on the last 4 years) lose more money, move on and go all out to find an alternative site I really don't envy him whatever he decides to do, Good luck.

So let me get this right, Speedway in Swindon is unviable but Speedway in Poole is viable both Stadiums owned by Stadia UK, the present scenario is Stadia UK closed the Greyhound racing in Poole to move the televised Greyhounds to Swindon thus making Poole Speedway the only source of income at Poole except for a bit of income from Car Parking and a Car Boot, this then made Swindon more profitable but gave the Speedway less dates to race on, Speedway IS viable at Swindon but not so viable as building houses on the Car Parking area used for Swindon Speedway patrons. https://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/23849178.clarke-osbourne-reveals-swindon-speedway-leave-stadium/ Osbourne is not telling the whole truth in this article, and the new company is just window dressing and everyone knows it.
-
Basically for the same reason that Monmore Green (Wolves) has just closed for Speedway, the owners of the Stadiums don't want it though probably for different reasons Swindon simply want to get as many houses built on the Abbey Stadium site as they can get, Monmore Green the reason given was that to many Greyhounds are getting injured by debri from the Speedway Track.

I have wondered for some time with the goings on at Rye House would the Greyhound Stadium at Harlow be suitable ?, I know the owner of Harlow is a builder and put his own money in to the Stadium, some years ago maybe 8/10 I know he was interested in staging Speedway, If there are any potential investors out there then they could do worse than contact the Stadium owner (Dave Barclay) he is the kind of guy that will listen to any decent proposal, and with Rye House seemingly gone for good this could see the revival of Speedway in the area.

The last I heard was that Ringwood was the subject of a planning application for other developments not Sports related. https://www.salisburyjournal.co.uk/news/23299680.future-ringwood-raceway-remains-uncertain-council-set-decide/

That area has been looked at and an approach made to the BCM but the BCM are not interested in leasing/selling any of the land that they own for Speedway, as for the old Freightliner Depot it was earmarked by the late Nigel Pearson for a joint project with Gornal FC but Dudley MBC in there wisdom had earmarked it for other developments, to my way of thinking that land was/is ideal and would have brought more visiters to both the BCM and Dudley Zoo but again Speedway seems to be frowned upon and placed at the bottom when it comes to locating a new Track for Speedway, basically despite the public protestations that Speedway is wanted in Dudley neither major political party has made the slightest effort to help or encourage the return of the Heathens, in fact at the present time we can't even get a reply to emails/letters sent to various Councillors of Dudley MBC and I include the Council leader and Deputy leader in those comments.
-
Yeah I agree very poor from Humphreys, could have done much better.
-
It is nothing to do with extra days greyhound racing, it is to do with dogs getting injured, however as an ex greyhound insider so to speak there are no more injuries now than in the past, basically they don't want Speedway for whatever reason, which may become clearer in years to come.
-
Bloody hell, the SCS side did'nt even note what Poole get for sponsorship, it's 98k according to what Matt said...

Are you a politician ?.

I'm not well up on what BSN covers but if 45% goes to Championship teams and 55% to the operators does the Premiership not take anything from BSN ?.

Distribution of TV Monies, Crowd levels, Investment in Grass roots just a few items that have never been addressed nor made public by Speedway authorities, and this will go against this appeal, which I can see the inspector allowing.
