Basically for the same reason that Monmore Green (Wolves) has just closed for Speedway, the owners of the Stadiums don't want it though probably for different reasons Swindon simply want to get as many houses built on the Abbey Stadium site as they can get, Monmore Green the reason given was that to many Greyhounds are getting injured by debri from the Speedway Track.

I have wondered for some time with the goings on at Rye House would the Greyhound Stadium at Harlow be suitable ?, I know the owner of Harlow is a builder and put his own money in to the Stadium, some years ago maybe 8/10 I know he was interested in staging Speedway, If there are any potential investors out there then they could do worse than contact the Stadium owner (Dave Barclay) he is the kind of guy that will listen to any decent proposal, and with Rye House seemingly gone for good this could see the revival of Speedway in the area.

The last I heard was that Ringwood was the subject of a planning application for other developments not Sports related. https://www.salisburyjournal.co.uk/news/23299680.future-ringwood-raceway-remains-uncertain-council-set-decide/

That area has been looked at and an approach made to the BCM but the BCM are not interested in leasing/selling any of the land that they own for Speedway, as for the old Freightliner Depot it was earmarked by the late Nigel Pearson for a joint project with Gornal FC but Dudley MBC in there wisdom had earmarked it for other developments, to my way of thinking that land was/is ideal and would have brought more visiters to both the BCM and Dudley Zoo but again Speedway seems to be frowned upon and placed at the bottom when it comes to locating a new Track for Speedway, basically despite the public protestations that Speedway is wanted in Dudley neither major political party has made the slightest effort to help or encourage the return of the Heathens, in fact at the present time we can't even get a reply to emails/letters sent to various Councillors of Dudley MBC and I include the Council leader and Deputy leader in those comments.

Yeah I agree very poor from Humphreys, could have done much better.

It is nothing to do with extra days greyhound racing, it is to do with dogs getting injured, however as an ex greyhound insider so to speak there are no more injuries now than in the past, basically they don't want Speedway for whatever reason, which may become clearer in years to come.

Bloody hell, the SCS side did'nt even note what Poole get for sponsorship, it's 98k according to what Matt said...

Are you a politician ?.

I'm not well up on what BSN covers but if 45% goes to Championship teams and 55% to the operators does the Premiership not take anything from BSN ?.
-
Distribution of TV Monies, Crowd levels, Investment in Grass roots just a few items that have never been addressed nor made public by Speedway authorities, and this will go against this appeal, which I can see the inspector allowing.
-
If it's a new Stadium as opposed to new Team then I think The Alexander Stadium could stage a GP on a temporary surface, I have heard Mr Morris has been up around Birmingham a few times lately, of course that may be linked to the SCS efforts, no noise with regards Cradley any return is as far away as it's ever been, Speedway in the West Midlands is hanging by a thread for 2024.

Yeah, he has driven Stocks and the company that he part owns (Family) is very profitable ie pretty significant profits.
-
I would like for the Barrister of the Save Coventry Speedway to actually ask the question as to who "Brandon Estates" actually are ie who are the directors could well give us some idea who has been behind the proposal to develop Brandon rather than just hide behind a company name, especially one that's registered abroad.
-
That may actually be a very good idea, could be one of the few occasions the break even figure is reached.
-
Especially this one, apparently a Mr PJ Kelly is a director of Corbally Group (Perry Barr) and several others which at one time or another totalled 96 directorships https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/officers/XFQxt_lQsAnD5bcctGx62nSRddE/appointments so maybe he is a person who could give the Brummies some hope in the near future, on the other hand most of his appointments appear to be in the property development area of which he has fingers in many pies, some of which are Irish which brings us back to NAMA and tangled webs etc etc.
-
Do you mean the Irish Government Quango https://www.nama.ie/ ?.

I was going to make this a short reply, Developers want to develop the land so by paying for a speedway track to be put in on land provided for by the Council is a minimal outlay for developers as an example see (Burton RFC) and no financial outlay by the Council, There is no doubts that the council has the land it's the suitability to stage Speedway that is the major issue, I suggest you go and have a chat with Nigel T and see what he wants for the Brummies.

Ladbrokes/Entain own Monmore, ARC (a different group) lease Perry Barr it's ARC that have applied for a new Greyhound track at there own Horse racing Track in Wolvo, Monmore Greyhounds will be continuing at Monmore indeed it is according to the spokesman the injuries caused by Shale on the Greyhound track that the Speedway has been given notice at Monmore, even if the Greyhounds move from Perry Barr to Wolvo the Speedway could still continue at Perry Barr, in actual fact it could be to the Brummies benefit if they continue at PB because if PP is applied for to develop PB the council who own PB may feel duty bound to provide the Brummies with an alternative venue.

Poole v Birmingham 30/8/23 Championship
heathen52 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Surely any half decent HL as a guest will be enough for you to beat the Brummies. -
Clubs that own their own tracks
heathen52 replied to JamesHarris's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Are we talking Stadium or Track, was not the Stadium built for the Commonwealth games and is therefore a legacy from those ?, the Speedway Track was added later to give us what we have today. -
He seemed to stop posting roughly at the time of Workingtons first meeting at the new track, never posted about the first meeting and not posted since, I can only assume that he has had a falling out with someone close to Workington speedway, also noticable that no one that goes to Comet's speedway has commented on why, what, where or when, so can only presume it's being kept in house so to speak, THJ has been missed for sure by me if no-one else .
-
Yes its time Nielsen was shown the door even a 2 pointer would be better than what he is producing at the moment, as for a Morris replacement your guests so far have been your top points scorer in most of your meetings, which is an improvement on what Nick was scoring.

Birmingham v scunthorpe 23/08/23
heathen52 replied to Petecc's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I have been told this by someone on the inside ie no-one going round chatting to riders or very little chat between riders, I noticed tonight Picko giving advice to other riders due out in Ht 2 and doing it again later in the meeting, I feel so sorry for the Brum fans, the support staff, NT and LR who put so much in to keeping the Brummies on Track, they deserve much more than what they are seeing this season, I will add that the Perry Barr track is something of a gaters track yes I have seen some overtaking but it is usually the odd pass during a meeting, some might say the Birmingham track is to fair, I might say in reply it is gate & go, plus the home team seem to think it varies from one week to the next which cannot help with set ups. -
I am expecting a Brummie win tonight, but there won't be much in it.
-
I am told from a very reliable source, or should I say from someone that should know what went on, Nick apparently could not pee to take the second test, and yes the first test allegedly showed positive.
