Ipswich v Birmingham 16th May
heathen52 replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
We are all looking at rain off's from a supporters angle ie travelling a few hours with all that entails, what about from a riders/promoters perspective flying in from europe only to find the meeting has been rained off, this is yet another spin off from having to few home grown riders, now let me think whose fault is that,? have bike but nowhere to ride every year home grown riders are lost to the sport through not having a team to ride for, yet riders travel halfway around the world to earn a living and they are not GP riders, what a state this sport has gotten itself in to.. -
I think with this signing the managers of Birmingham still think that they are in the Championship .
-
Sedgeman for Milik? Jeez this is just change for changes sake, and as another poster has said simply reduces the cost, If Birmingham want to be taken seriously why not get a proper No1 ?.
-
What about Lampart?, he scored 11 points in his qualifier at Krosno, and while we are at it I would give Milik an ultimatum either he brings his Polish bikes/form to the Brummies or don't bother turning up why ? 12+2 for Krosno, and 11 points in the SEC Challenge at Daugavpils other known riders Thorsell 4, Lahti 9, Janowski 12, Riss 3, Jensen 7, so he can do it when he wants to, it seems he is literally taking Birmingham management and fans for a ride, easy money...
-
Have you been on the Pop ?
-
I hope messrs Tolley and Rogers are happy with their most recent imports, a lack of effort should not be tolerated anywhere least of all on track, Pawlicki and Milik produced plenty of effort in their SEC qualifying, from reading reports it's debatable that the same can be said in Manchester.
-
Average dropping ?, Birmingham don't need to drop averages they need to up them .
-
That's a good watch .
-
Bob Valentine, had been a top class Heat leader at Sheffield but suffered a few injuries which meant he arrived at Cradley Heath in 1977 as a lowly reserve who was expected to get the odd heat win now and again, by the end of the season he was riding at No1 for the team and showing much of his old fire and form, I give you Bob Valentine form is temporary class is permanent.
-
In all honesty this Brum team aint to bad, but and I say this honestly Nigel Tolley needs to put his money where his mouth is and sign a proper No1, they have plenty of room points wise for a proper No1 and NT did say they had a choice of riders pre season, get a No1 and be in the shake up for the piss up's or stay as they are and simply make up the numbers, which really is unfair not only for the supporters but for the other riders in the Team that are busting a gut to try for a win, but being let down by management.
-
Yeah, and just to compound it the 2 minute clock not working, Buster you should be running a NL team not a supposedly Premier League team, all to amateurish.
-
So Rob Godfrey and Co, say it's MY way (Sunday) or NO way to any other raceday for Mildenhall in 2025, personally I would stick 2 fingers up to that and go NORA.
-
Well done Brummies a deserved win, as for BV their tail didn't wag very well and the strongest part of their Team was actually their weakest link.
-
Well it 7-00pm, NO rain as yet but heavy clouds overhead, Meeting now on live so see for yourselves..
-
It's 6-05pm still no rain, dull, dreary and Windy but NO wet stuff...
-
Hahaha Be interesting to see which of us is right, both the Met Office and BBC are saying light rain at 5-00pm, then Met Office no rain at 6-00pm then rain between 7/9-00pm but BBC says rain at 6-00pm no rain at 7-00pm then light rain between 7/8-00pm, I still think the meeting will go ahead, here in Cradley Heath at 5-00pm we still have strong winds and intermittant sunshine, but NO rain... weather forecast over and BV to win but the Brummies might just make a meeting of it, difficult to predict because of the gate and go..
-
That's the way I see it, no heavy stuff so actually should make for a decent meeting, with regards to the track ie shale, overtaking etc etc, I suppose over the years I have been to probably 50 meetings at Perry Barr, I have rarely seen much overtaking and when I have it's usually been on bends 3/4, overtaking on bends 1/2 is rarer than winning the jackpot on euro millions, Nigel Tolley told me they were going to put more banking on those bends over the winter, now my eyesight aint very good these days but from what I have seen so far there is NO extra banking on bends 1/2 hence still no passing around 1/2, so what we have is very little shale, 50% of the track where little or no overtaking and the remainder is difficult to get any drive so Perry Barr needs gaters to win meetings gate and go tonight and whoever does that will win the meeting.

Looking at this https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/maps-and-charts/precipitation-map#?bbox=[[51.62142713341988,-4.696655273437501],[53.33415333620371,0.9173583984375001]]&model=ukmo-ukv&layer=precipitation-type&timestep=1714381200000 Looks like Perry Barr is on the edge of a weather front and it's not the heavy stuff, I'm still thinking the meeting will be on, actually the sun has been out most of the morning here in Cradley Heath with a strong drying wind.
-
Providing BV get their gating sorted they will win, however Perry Barr is pretty much a gaters track and if they miss the gate can't see them coming from behind, forget going wide on bend 1&2 nowt out there for anyone, bends 3&4 can occasionally give riders some hope of a pass, weather shouldn't be a problem so looking forward to this meeting.

And will continue to do because you don't have a proper No1. The question is can Birmingham go the season without winning a meeting ?. -

Pawlicki and Milik have been given averages of 7.5 Lampart has been given 6.0. -
I'm guessing the signing of Klindt is not going to happen, though Perry Barr being something of a gaters track would suit him down to the ground, Lampart will be kept for 2 reasons 1 that he could be the solid middle order rider that the Brummies need. 2 That he would become an asset. Which means the rider that should be released is Milik he is 30 now and doubt their is any improvement in him and lets be honest he has been disappointing so far, he is the guy that I would release to bring Klindt in, However neither would be what the Brummies need they need an out and out No1 and dithering around waiting to see if anyone can step up will see them or Kings Lynn take the wooden spoon yet again, both are the current holders of these pieces of wood from last season and are favourites yet again to retain this useless piece of furniture. It really is time for Nigel Tolley to put his words into action and sign that genuine No1 sooner rather than later, it is no good him spending ££££,s just to keep the Brummies in existence he needs to take the next step and bring in that other Top class rider that's badly needed.
-
I have said previously their should be at least 3X1 Lap races during a meeting ie 1 for each rider nominated, at least give it a try just be something different to the norm.
-
The Birmingham track is predominantly a gaters track and we all know Nicolai is primarily a gater, horses for courses maybe ?, Klindt for Milik or Lampart, as someone else said Klindt for Lampart keeps Cook at reserve for longer, whereas Klindt for Milik gives Brum a bit more wriggle room to bring in the top end rider that they badly need, personally I would offload Milik he is 30 and aint going to get any better, whereas Lampart is 22 and could still improve. I have no idea what they will do but Oxford are not messing around whereas Brum who badly need strengthening up appear to be dithering yet again.

Looks like Give us a B is holding fire until tomorrow, I dread to think what his mood will be like having paid to watch what can best be described in an old fashioned way as Tripe .
