  1. When did Birmingham Speedway last make any money, when it was over the road at the old Ladbrokes Stadium or when it was 3rd division with Tony Mole here at Perry Barr?, answer that and you have an answer to Birmingham's future and why it won't be around in 2025, where is the point in throwing more good money after losing money over many years.
  2. And that is exactly what will happen with Brandon Estates, they simply are not bothered about how long it takes because they know they have an appreciating assett in the land that Brandon Stadium is built on.
  3. "I think if there is a future, we need to be told, do we have one, or will we be lost again. I most certainly won't be travelling for my fix. I wish Wolverhampton, Cradley and Coventry fans all the best with their endeavours, but I won't be watching". That is the big issue, I am a Cradley fan first and foremost who watches the very occasional meeting at Birmingham, last season (2024) I never went to one though I did watch the Birmingham streams early in the season, I simply cannot drag myself over to Brum to watch a poor team that was nailed on for the wooden spoon even before the season started, I wish Birmingham well but fear the worst.
  4. You my friend have made some pretty valid points, right location with 2 teams and two different tracks one inside the other but where I differ is it could be with two different promoters sharing overheads, the obvious teams in the West Midlands would be Wolves and Cradley, Birmingham Brummies simply do not have enough support, unless this scenario comes to fruition I cannot for the life of me see where the West Midlands will have a Speedway again team in the near future, from what I have posted you will gather I doubt Birmingham will come to the tapes in 2025, what's the point when it will only be for one season anyway, well done for those that have kept Brummies going over the past few years but it will most probably all have been in vain.
  5. Here is a short excerpt from a retirement announcement by the ARC Greyhound operations director Rachel Corden. The timing to step down is right for me but also right for our stadia as we have just finalised all the plans for the move of our Perry Barr operation to Wolverhampton, which will happen in September 2025, ahead of the Landlord requiring the return of the Perry Barr site. The full statement is here https://greyhoundscene.proboards.com/thread/87317/on-corden-leave-all-posts This will hopefully enable Birmingham to make an early decision on whether or not they will come to the tapes in 2025, as i understand it Birmingham are dependant on Greyhound racing continuing to take place at Perry Barr in 2025, this brings a little clarity to timelines.
  6. Here is a quick past or present 4 man team, mind you if these riders took to the track may as well give it to Wolves with Cradley being Wooden Spoons. Wolves; Masters Douglas Becker Flint Birmingham; Lampart Cook Palm Toft Batchelor Coventry; Harris King Barker Nicholls Cradley; Brennan Kemp Edwards Newman Starke
  7. Thank you Brum especially Pawlicki for making me look an idiot, I can do that myself thank you without any help from you guys 😁. I feel so sorry for Nigel Tolley the Birmingham fans and loyal band of helpers they deserve so much better than what they have been served up this season. It is pretty obvious to everyone now if it wasn't before that Birmingham have had there pants pulled down by Pawlicki, I would get rid of him instantly (nothing to lose) and replace him with anyone that is available and wants to ride, back to the result and firstly well done Kings Lynn you wanted it more than Birmingham who sadly are simply unable to get seven riders to get it together on the same night, I will say in my opinion the track does not help their cause and that needs to be looked at if they are to be back next season in fact I would put it at the top of the list of things to do for 2025.
  8. We are approx 10 miles or so south west of Perry Barr, its been cloudy most of the day had a few spots of rain (not enough to keep the wipers on constant) for about 2/3 minutes at about 4-00pm since then occasional sunshine and cloud, unless their are monsoon like showers their should be no way this meeting is going to be off and now Tom & Freddie have got the GP out of the way I expect both to get double figures, ably backed up by Lampart, Cook & Co I expect Brum to get their biggest win of the season, if they don't then they don't deserve to win anything except the wooden spoon.
  9. From what I saw of the video, Emil seemed a little unsteady (a little wobble) down the back straight prior to going in to the 3rd bend, footrest issue ?.
  10. Just something that I'm wondering about BB gets a 28 day suspension, Pawlicki who failed to turn up for the Brummies gets nowt, Pawlicki rode the previous day in Poland but produced a doctors note, I take it BB had no Drs note or if he did why the difference between PP and BB ?.
  11. To be honest I would tell him not to bother coming over again he won't be missed and has been a big waste of money, no commitment.
  12. You use the words "glorified amateur racing" may i suggest glorified professional racing be used to describe what we have for paid racing in the UK, what we have for Teams now are little better than have bike will ride, as for NORA yes it is amateur but it is what those areas will support without paying out exorbitant money to the bike for hire guys, who are basically being bank rolled by so called promoters that seem to be happy propping up the sport and which simply cannot continue for much longer, as we all get older the crowds get less and less until something will have to be done along the lines of NORA.
  13. This shows the Brummies are capable of racing when they have the right track conditions which Perry Barr rarely is, well done Oxford but very lucky by all accounts especially in Ht 15.
  14. This is part of the problem at Perry Barr, the racing lines vary from meeting to meeting, which means the home riders have to find the right set up from meeting to meeting, but it is primarily a gaters track if you don't gate at PB your in trouble from the off. Nigel Tolley said they were going to improve the banking on bends 1 & 2 during the last close season but it doesn't appear to have been done, even if they were to make Perry Barr some sort of trick track that would be better than what they have now which currently helps away riders just as much as the home riders, and for sure it does not encourage much passing..
  15. The way he is riding for the Brummies at present I can see the BSPL introducing an FS for next season Fading star is more apt for Leon Flint right now.
  16. This should be Birmingham's to lose, mind you Birmingham seem to be expert at making a pigs ear of losing matches that they should win, the track won't help because it's been sunshine in the high 20's for most of the day, so I expect it to be very dry after the first 4/6 Heats. I am going for a 48-42 home win..
  17. So if it doesn't/won't work why is it that Glasgow, Poole seem to retain there crowds when they are in the so called second tier of British Speedway?, their needs to be a drastic change not only to the promotion/presentation of Speedway but also to the actual make up of what is presented. County Cricket was/is on it's ass a few years ago and still is, but the powers that be introduced Sunday League (40 Overs per side) many years ago, and over recent seasons have introduced even shorter versions ie "The Hundred" etc etc the recent shorter versions of the game of Cricket have seen it thrive worldwide. I think it's time the people that run Speedway in this country took a leaf out of Cricket's book and introduced a shorter version alongside the 4 lap formula, perhaps have 6 man teams as has been suggested, then mid meetings have the 6 riders by the tapes and have 6 x 1 lap dashes the winner 2 points, second 1 point 3/4th places 0 points, is that 3 races each ?, short and sharp to get the juices flowing anyways you get the idea.
  18. Paco guests for Piotr, yet another piss take, he was fit enough to ride Saturday and Sunday but not deemed fit enough to ride tonight, Birmingham are also using Zach Cook as a guest for Sedgy who has concussion, personally I think it's time Brum actually called time on this years Polish experiment and told Pawlicki not to bother coming again.
  19. They just make it up as they go along, example Birmingham, Pawlicki and Milik. 1. Piotr Pawlicki 7.50 2. Wiktor Lampart 6.00 3. Steve Worrall 6.44 (6.60) 4. Tom Brennan 5.87 (6.02) 5. Vaclav Milik 7.50
  20. Couldn't have put it better myself. The people running Birmingham have been there long enough to have learnt something, sad to say it seems they have learnt bugger all, they continue to make mistake after mistake and the big worry is that we may not have any Speedway in the West Midlands if this continues, Track and Track prep dreadful, Team going from bad to worse, Team management have names but no brains, Promotors that are incompetant in allowing all of this to continue week in week out, sad to say the Buck stops there, how the heck can you ask fans to keep paying to watch such a sub standard set up ?.
  21. We are aprox 10 miles or so West of Birmingham and pleased to say the rain has kept away in fact it's been a pretty decent day, yeah some heavy clouds rolling across at the moment, but just looking at the forecast I think the rain will arrive late this evening, so lets hope we have a decently prepared track that will give us some decent racing, I still think Oxford will edge it by about 6 points or so.
