I'm still watching this space, no meetings last night so surely it's a slow news day at the BSPl ?, seems its not slow enough to let us know who the new signing is.

The future of British Speedway after the 2023 season
heathen52 replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Don,t know where else to put this but the Greyhound fixtures for 2024 have been released today, these are only the fixtures that will be streamed to its various retail customers worldwide, there are options for Stadiums to stage none Streamed meetings if so desired. I have been unable to copy and paste so I will just do the 3 Tracks that race from Greyhound Stadia ie Wolves, Birmingham and Sheffield; Sheffield; Will have only 1 evening meeting which will be on Friday evening, all its other streamed meetings will be on mornings and afternoons. Perry Barr; Will stream evening meetings on Wednesday and Saturday, PB will also have streamed meetings on the afternoons of Tuesday & Thursday, obviously this will effect the Brummies as they race on Wednesday evenings. Monmore; Evening meetings on Thursday and Saturday, afternoon meetings on Monday & Tuesday, morning meetings on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. I would just add Swindon; Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Saturday afternoons, and Monday mornings, personally there seems enough available dates there to stage Speedway at Blunsdon. The above meeting dates are Streamed only, but as I said if any particular Track wants to stage none streamed meetings then they are perfectly able to do so, once again sorry I can't copy and paste but here is the full article. https://greyhoundstar.co.uk/great-fit-pgr/ -
BRUMMIES V EDINBURGH Wed 17th May CL

Have to say I agree with your last sentence. I believe LR should consider resigning as Birmingham Team Manager but remain as co promoter now that would be in the best interests of Birmingham Speedway as a whole. -

Which brings me around to how did BV get around this promoters thingy when the previous promotion ended at the NSS ?. -

Those are the 2 obvious riders to replace and from a crowd point of view the sooner the better, people want to see a winning team and paying £20 to watch your team lose is not much fun. I dont blame the riders for the predicament the Brummies are in but having only 2 Heat leaders was always going to be a receipt for disaster. -

I presume so otherwise he would not have rode and taken 6 rides, if not Brum could have used a guest, obviously he was rusty but even if he had scored 6/7/8 you would have still won. -

Brummies not at full strength ? rr got 6 points for the Brummies which is probably a point or two more than Stefan would have got, I actually had this meeting down as being very winnable for Edinburgh but not a forgone conclusion so well done Edinburgh. -
Any news on THJ is he unwell ?, was he at the opening meeting, it would be very unlike him to miss out on the opening.
-
I take it that the guest facility for James Wright will be reduced by 25% for the matches this week which means a guest with an average of a fraction over 4.00 or can they use rr ?, away at Plymouth is never easy but the home fixture against Edinburgh on wednesday should give the Brummies a good chance of gaining their first points of the season, win that and they can honestly say their season is up and running, lose it then I fear the worst.
-
Now be brave and get Dan in.
-
Take your pick, I doubt any of them will get rained off, fogged off, the pitches will all be fit enough to ride on, no guests allowed, but rr will be allowed in the form of substitutes, and NO doubling up/down . https://hes-goals.tv/

Redcar v Birmingham BSN 6th May
heathen52 replied to Norfolk Bear's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Track covers for most Greyhound /Speedway Stadia usually consist of just Tarpaulin covers, Newcastle greyhounds still going, I can never understand why Speedway does not try cricket type covers ie the ones on wheels. -
The Twins in for Proctor and Nielsen would be a start for Brum, don't know what the shoulder injury is for Wright but if it means his 28 day facility is coming to an end and now reduces by 25% then another signing in his place would be a no brainer, they really need changes to stop their season ending after it's barely begun.

Birmingham v Redcar bsn Wednesday
heathen52 replied to Petecc's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yes it's early days and nowt is won in April/May however this Birmingham team as it stands will not win anything, Yes they have a good No1 but his high average was built on being very very good around his former home Track at Leicester, take away that home track average and it is/was obvious to most people his average would drop, but that high average limits the remaining team building possibilities, that is the start of where the team building has imo gone wrong, yes it was also thought that this would be a strong team at home and that they could get the odd away point. I will say again, I have a lot of time for Laurence Rogers and he spends many hours doing good things within Speedway, but a good team manager he is NOT, whoever makes the decisions at Birmingham Speedway should be on the phone to Alun Rossiter and do whatever it takes to get him in as Team Manager at Birmingham, because take it from me Birmingham people will not spend their hard earned money on watching this team as it presently stands. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but something needs to be done otherwise I can see the West Midlands being without Speedway in the not to distant future. -
Workington, Steve Lawson interview
heathen52 replied to pvm's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I wish everyone involved all the luck in the world and a very big well done, and good luck to Workington in the coming season, whilst its obviously a work in progress "Rome was'nt built in a day" the main part is already done.. -
Adam Ellis had a Championship average of 7.54 on the set of averages when he left the Brummies May last year.

21.04.23 - Scun v Brum BSN Series
heathen52 replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Just a word of caution to Scunny fans, the Brum Team are in my humble opinion likely to be the whipping boys, so whilst doing the double over them is no mean feat it remains to be seen as whether or not that can be used as a guide as to how strong Scunny are, suffice to say they are far to good for the Brummies. -
I get it that the pre season optimism always gets people excited but I was told Nigel Tolley expected to win the League this season, I'm saying now their is not a cat in hell's chance of winning anything with the way this team has been built, It's between the Glads and Brummies who will win the wooden thingy.

A pretty good summary of what was and where we are now, except I think the old Norton Cannes greyhound stadium has been pretty much built all over, I think the biggest stumbling block has always been who actually owns the Chasewater site ?, and secondly on the borders of three different Councils, I actually think Chasewater could be a goer if ownership could be established. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Chasewater+Railway+-+(Brownhills+West,+Station)/@52.6585993,-1.938304,549m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x4870a0f593bb74c7:0x4362b64655aeadec!8m2!3d52.6627769!4d-1.9528404!16zL20vMDNiem5w Thats the outline of the old Trotting Track, Long Track that was held there years ago, and I can still see the outline of the Greyhound Track, which gives you an idea of how big the whole site is.

Can't imagine actual facts, and the facts are this is happening far more at Scunthorpe than any other racetrack in the Uk.
-
Yes Jim they are tenants, but if the ARC end game is showing products to the shops (which it is) then surely they can do the same with the Brummie Promotion, I know for a fact a previous tenant at Perry Barr (Maurice Buckland) never wanted nor allowed Speedway at PB.
-
So where does that leave the Brummies yet another ARC racetrack ?, are we going to see Speedway wiped out in the West Midlands.
