Understand the closure of tickets at a certain time but utterly mad about keeping you the same area. Non League in September/October you were allowed to wander - Beaumont Park is 85% open air.

Up for sell by the liquidator currently. 4 interested parties apparently. I don't think Cov football could play there - ground grading and such. Lack of seats etc.

British Speedway Promoters Meeting
Hazzman replied to dantodan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
As much I see pitfalls, it's a good idea in principle if the riders are allocated via a draft and the meeting formats are altered. However, why do we need fast-tracks so quick. The aim should be to achieve this (NL reserves in EL spots) within 3 to 5 years. Why not initially use British riders with say no more than 7 years experience in the EL reserves spots and then British riders with say no more than 4 years experience in the PL. Then as you build towards the final objective. -

Going to create a false market as clubs pay sums to get the best of the crop. -

Personally feel anyone willing to take the season ticket issue to scc would win very easy. Anywhere off to the Elite. This could be fun. -
British Speedway Promoters Meeting

I think most on here were all in agreement that the level of rider from no.1 to no.6/7 was simply too big in the EL. They have now made it bigger. -
BT Sport getting the CL rights is arguably bad news; it leaves league Speedway with realistically one broadcaster to televise it. A broadcaster which can pick and choose it's price now. If Eurosport were interested, they'd have enquired by now but they simply don't have the kit to do it. It's further considering what else SKY can bid for to make the viewers up. They still have a good strangle of most sports at an international level. They can squeeze the lower leagues for more televised football matches. Rugby League is soon due a re-vamp with its structure. Can they hit BT with the market in reference to American Sports...they have NFL and NBA, they may want to increase that to MLB and NHL. There's lots of avenues they can take. Worth noting as well that as an overall company SKY have made massive leaps to monopolise other European sport markets.
-
As along there is only 2 main sports broadcasters, the issue will be the same. SKY know that could get Speedway on the cheap now, maybe even for nothing. If there was a serious third broadcaster, there would be a competitor against SKY.

Ultimately Speedway needs to forgot about Sky and it needs to probably forgot about being televised now. The British League system needs to package itself up better and become something interesting to watch. I always read this EL and PL debate but now it's largely irrelevant. The problems for me stemmed from that the difference between EL no.1 to EL no.6/7 was so much wider than PL no.1 to PL no.6/7. Now forgot about the Sky money, the clubs need to get themselves under financial order and I think as a result, you'd see an EL and a PL with a minimal difference in rider quality. Therefore you open up the possibility of inter-divisional cups and promotion/relegation. All clubs need to take a serious look at their outgoings etc and plan appropriately. If this means a license system with an overlooking body, I am all for it. Sometimes I feel Speedway causes it's self more damaging by trying to keep tracks open for the sake of keeping tracks open.

We would be more likely having the same conversation over and over again actually -

And Parken is used by FC Copenhague and Denmark national football team And Friends Arena is used by AIK Solna and Sweden national football team. Therefore if we are talking a roof, pretty much leaves Torun. -

Good to see they are getting a lot done before the Winter. Would love to see a GP in Berlin. Might even give a meeting worth being excited for. The location of Fredrich-Jahn is superb. It's very near where the Berlin Wall stood, plenty of bars nearby and a massive public (if a little scruffy) park. Transport piece of cake too. -
In my experience, it's very common that. No Police action can be taken until the children are 11. Therefore it is very common that the group will be larger including older kids but it's only the young un's which take the rap.

The planning permission and lease was agreed with Beaumont Sports Complex Ltd. They are three directors within that company include DH and two guys based in Bristol. They are essentially responsible. I doubt it. There's logical reasons for why the other parties dropped out. -
Tai Woffinden
Hazzman replied to David Haddock's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I say this very much as an outsider to league speedway but doesn't this prove that some times being thrown in the deep end as Tai was for one season in the GPs can be a massive learning curve. He's returned and been a lot more focused, a lot more professional. There's a big push by the fans to see British quotas at the top level of British Speedway but the constant argument is the riders aee not good enough. Maybe the first year that will be the case but let them learn and they might as Tai did come back a whole lot better. -
Why Seed Hosts Direct To Final?
Hazzman replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I was personally a fan of when the World Cup was held in the same country for one week. I can understand why this is no longer the case. Just felt it built a real festival atmosphere. It also made it more worthwhile for fans to travel abroad. If you are going to spend x amount going Poland, might as well make 5 to 7 days and spend a touch more. Maybe if the IGM/FIM offered some money to improve the hosting tracks, then you'd get more neutral countries will to host the tournament and happy to have low crowd knowing the long-term benefits. Obviously, no bleeding seeding other than the semi-finalists as per the norm. -

Seems odd to suggest holding it at the HD Stadium given its main tenant, LA Galaxy start their Soccer season in February. That said apparently the stadium has been used for the X Games. -

Typically Saturday was the first time in a while that had a free evening. I looked outside at 7pm and didn't fancy facing the howling wind. More the fool me if it was a great meeting. Hope it continually happens and I go up to Beaumont Park not caring about the weather. -

Whether it's right or wrong, business have to make decisions which take into account the idiots, cretins and thicko's. Particularly in sports where it's often those who are your most loyal fans. I have yet to hear a good argument for why Hemsley shouldn't have just played it straight and said the money wasn't there to carry out the improvements. It could have even been done in a decent PR fashion of 'we are a developing club, building our resources etc. etc.' The way it's been promised for two years means people feel cheated. -

Might be the case, you need to sadly allow for that. Has the customer said they want to close the track? No. There's only so far blind faith can take you, as much as people hating hearing it maybe Speedway would be better with less track. We need entertaining, well run clubs. The fans want to see improvement. Improvement which was promised. If Hemsley came out and said we simply don't have the money to change the track, fair enough. But he didn't, he promised changes. Even if he said we havent quite got the budget to major alterations, so we will try other alternatives. He never said that but if he did, there would be a lot more respect for him. -

What you define as 'having a go', I would define as 'constructive criticism'. The customer is always right remember. -

There were and still are a lot of helpful volunteers at Beaumont Park. Quite a lot have left because of Hemsley. That time would be shared across a decent number of people. Ermolenko was the very first to go and then it just continued. As for this raise the money, I find that disappointing in two aspects when people suggest that. Firstly you wouldn't expect any business to get it's customer to pay for the business' mistake. Secondarily, there were volunteers/fans who helped build the 'stadium' under Hemsley's direction. It would be particularly gutting to hear that they would be expected to put money down in order to correct the track. All those hours being considered a loss. We can moan about the track all day long - regardless of how it's dressed up, it's a considerable chunk of money. What is more worrying is the recent news of falling out with sponsors, issues with the tractor hire etc. etc. That suggests a cashflow issue. Didn't Hemsley dismiss the woman who did the books recently?
