Alcohol At Cardiff
Chezza replied to loyal royal's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I was Mrs Sensible yesterday and carried my half drunk plastic cup full from the pub round with me. When my bag was checked and they saw I had 2x bottles of coke and a 'water' bottle and told me I couldn't take them in, I asked if it was ok to put my 'water' in my cup to which they replied yes so I done no more than dump the coke bottles but my 'supply' was safe!! They did ask me what was in the cup and of course I answered as honestly as I could and said it was lemonade!! The coke could be replaced but gin is hard to come by -
Alcohol At Cardiff

They are still taking away plastic bottles of anything (soft drinks & water) claiming it is for health & safety reasons and also got told that they would confiscate food if we'd had that as well. On a previous visit, they did give you plastic cups so you could transfer out of the bottles to the cups in order to take it. This year they had nothing and suggested as it was still early enough we could walk around and drink what we had and come back later and then go in! If anything, I would have thought that wooden flag poles would be more of a health & safety issue than an empty plastic bottle - but perhaps maybe keep quiet on that one in case this could cause a new rule for next year!! What annoyed even more was that once sat down inside someone who was sat 2 rows in front had gone off somewhere and came back with a plastic bottle of soft drink - she never had any bags with her so i'm assuming it must have been from a vending machine. We were sat on top tier 2nd bend and towards the end of the night there was an accumulation of security stood in stairwell looking up towards the back rows of the block obviously with their eyes on someone but not once did any of them volunteer to go up and confront them. There were a few 'wobblers' going backwards and forwards to the loo throught out the night but fortunately not sat by us and no disruptions although in previous years we have suffered with drink being spilt and dripping down from the row behind. I don't think you'll ever stop the 'stupid drinkers' who insist on seeing how much they can get through, but on the positive side they're the ones that have paid to miss the racing in order to queue at the bar! Slightly off topic but still regarding do's and don'ts, I did feel sorry for the little lad at the next check point who was there with his dad/grandad who had 2x airhorn canisters (still in the sealed packaging) took off him as they didn't conform to their rules. They got told it was because there had been a fire last year - not quite sure I can believe that one!! -
I did get to speak to someone but admittedly it wasn't very good english. Still had problems doing the bank transfer for payment of the tickets and have been charged English bank charges & Polish bank charges. Am trying now to make contact with the bank to see why they have charged me their end as well. Hope the meetings good now as compensation!!

I had this number on the top of my invoice for my tickets (what a performance i've had paying for them as well!!) tel/fax: +48 52 583 00 30 Hope this helps

Try this email address biuro@polonia.bydgoszcz.pl It's on the speedwayworld.tv site in the Bydgoszcz tickets section. I emailed them to ask how to get Sector A tickets and they replied almost immediately saying you can reserve them by email. I've now done this and they have emailed me back confirming they have reserved them and that they will then contact me again for payment details. Hope this might help

Get well soon Chris. I'm sure it won't be too long before you're back in the saddle and causing your dad to have even more grey hair than he did before (that's if you can find any hair in between the bald patches) ps: don't pinch all his pasties whilst he's out of the house either!! Best wishes Chezza x

Somewhere To Stay In Cardiff
Chezza replied to rach's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm also at The Lodge. Look forward to seeing everybody. -
I did speak to him early this morning, but I couldn't decipher what he was saying. He wasn't making much sense but I don't know if it was because it was still early or whether it was cos he still had his mouthful of his breakfast courtesy of Ginsters

Well done Chris - I'm sure you'll be able to stay on it ' Pat: When Butlins got mentioned, memories came flooding back of my visit not so long ago- but i'm sure you'll be more suitably dressed than I was!!!!! Have a good crimbo to both of you and see you in the new year

Date Of Cardiff Gp 2006

I'm glad I stayed home this evening. Hotel booked and tickets purchased. Bargain -
To add insult to injury, as soon as the speedway finished, it went straight back to show the tennis that had been on prior to the delayed start of the speedway. Shame on sky for not having the decency to show the presentations -unless of course they do show it on the repeat (whenever that may be). At the ELRC the announcer at Swindon at the time said they they had to stop ther riders coming out out on the track to pick which gates they wanted in the final because it would make the sky programme over run and because there was live coverage of something or other on immediately after sky had denied them doing that. It's such a shame that speedway has to be denied the full coverage - can you imagine the uproar if the football presentations were cut short? Sorry, rant now over!!!

1. T Gollob 2. L Richardson 3. J Crump 4. S Nicholls -
They always race later in the evening in Italy due to the heat. The meeting starts at 9pm (Italy time). Good excuse to have a few more beers before it starts!

All changed. Come on you super brits.

I'm in U16 , never sat that high up before, but i'm sure it will be ok. Staying at the Holiday Inn (opposite the castle), so if anyone else is there please say hello.
-
I have sat in both middle and lower tier but much preferred the middle tier. You do lose some of the atmosphere lower down but where we were (just to the right of the pit entrance), the viewing was also slightly restricted and you did feel a bit conscious when waving a flag. So, back up to the middle tier this year.

Mick Handley is still working as a builder up in the midlands. Don't know about the other two.

Swedish Grand Prix
Chezza replied to The Grim Reaper's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Sorry Joanne, we were probably the ones curled in a ball on the floor in the corner having a kip!!! There were 8 of us altogether but three of us had Team Artdeans blue jackets on, so we might have been visible! Nightmare. After boarding the plane at 10.30pm the previous night we then got off loaded at 11.30pm - problems with plane, and all sent back into departures. Eventually got announcement that we had to leave and come back for check in at 9am for flight at 11am and the best bit was that they were planning to close the airport (so all the passengers would have been totally stranded!!!). Needless to say we all protested and eventually they agreed to keep the place open but there would be no catering facilities until 7.30am. So we all twiddled our thumbs and anything else we could get hold of until we could check in again and then at 9.30am the flight was put back until 12.30pm as the pilot was out of his flying hours!!!! Met some nice people while we were waiting though. I felt sorry for one guy on the flight who should have been catching a flight to Darwin at Heathrow yesterday morning. He hastily had to re-arrange that and managed to get another one today. I too thought the cider was a strange thing - hubby drank that but said they were nice. -
Swedish Grand Prix
Chezza replied to The Grim Reaper's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Got home 1hr ago from Sweden after a 15 hour delay and then a hold up on M25 due to accident The weekend was good otherwise. Racing was a bit disappointing to start, with a bit of 'follow the leader' but it did improve later on. Only brought our tickets on Saturday afternoon and after being told that all the seats between 1st & 2nd bend (where you could get the cheaper of the kids priced tickets) were sold out , chose the next option of seating on the 3rd bend instead. As it happened we had an excellent view, so it was an added bonus and I think we were undercharged which was even better! But suprise, suprise, once you were in there, there were ample seats in 1st and 2nd bend area. Bit of a con to get extra dosh, I think! Sat near a couple of Swedish blokes who got very stressy, especially after AJ missed out and they took great delight in slinging their half empty glass of lager across the crowd. But they chilled a bit later and enjoyed the rest of the meeting. Was quite amazed at how small a crowd there was, but following last year's disaster I'm not suprised that a lot stayed home and followed it on Sky. Would definately go again as everything was so local and it was so easy to get around - superb public transport system (unlike England!) -
Just cos I have kids who don't do speedway, doesn't mean I cannot have an interest or an opinion. As an observer it's quite easy to see who has it and who doesn't.

I would be very suprised if the poor lad does contact you for help & advise. If he's read all of your past lashings, you've probably frightened him off!!!!!!!! Ashley, just a little word of advise, speak to the people who know, not the people who think they do.
