Ipswich vs Leicester play off Semi-final 9th Sept
Tinker replied to ShanoXtra's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Hi mikebv. Can't agree with your final point that "major sponsors and many thousands of fans stay away" just because of the guest system. I think your point is highly exaggerated. Due to the many injuries sustained during a normal season I cannot see how the guest system can be discontinued. If your star man is missing, the majority of fans I'm sure would want him to be replaced like for like as opposed to a junior rider. The guest system has been around for donkey's years and I have personally never really minded it. I remember travelling down to Swindon many years ago to watch Halifax minus Kenny Carter who was out injured. When I heard that we'd got Shawn Moran as a guest I thought great, we still have a chance. I appreciate your comments re guests but I just can't see what other system would currently work. I just can't see a squad system working in this country. -
I don't suppose the Challenge will be on TV. It never seems to be. I would much rather watch this cut throat meeting than most of the GP's.

Is the racing always this boring? Falling asleep already! -
Sheffield v Ipswich 8th August
Tinker replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Couldn't agree more BB. A top class rider putting it right on the line for his British club. An absolute breath of fresh air for British speedway and I sincerely hope he returns next year. Get well soon Emil. -
Ipswich v Sheffield Monday 10th June
Tinker replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Very close and a possible superheat for me. Steady will have his riders pumped up for sure. -
Pretty negative comments there Hawk. Most posters on here, including me, seemed to enjoy the meeting. Close racing, a fair amount of passing and the meeting went right down to the wire. Plus the underdogs won. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Edinburgh V Berwick BSN Trophy 26th April
Tinker replied to allthegearbutnaeidea's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Will be watching this on BSN. Edinburgh for me but KT needs to up his game. Been here a while now and should be pushing on. -
Admittedly, I've only done short pauses (maybe 5 mins max) but it does seem to pick up from where I left off. Perhaps it only allows you to pause for a certain length of time? Up the Aces!

Yes, I think you should be OK with this. I was out last Friday evening and was able to watch the Scunthorpe versus Redcar match when I got home at 10.00pm. I think you have to wait approx 30 mins after the live recording has ended and then you can start watching the programme again in its entirety.

Yes, you can pause, no problem. Very good coverage as well.

King’s Lynn vs Leicester - Thursday 28th March
Tinker replied to SamKM91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not sure what the score will be but I reckon KL will win fairly comfortably. Not as convinced with the Leicester team as some people seem to be. -
Are you sure that wasn't ÂŁ2K a season?
-
Out of all the Championship teams, Workington's results will be the ones I check first. The composition of the team intrigues me and I sincerely hope they do well.

Leicester vs King’s Lynn - Thursday 21st March

I think KL could run Leicester very close tonight and if both Basso and Taresenko enjoy good meetings then they could spring a surprise! -
Graham Miles article Speedway Star
Tinker replied to HGould's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I have just read the article and must admit I wasn't aware of the full details of the incident. Sounded absolutely awful. I then started to remember all the other crashes/fatalities/injuries that took place at Hackney over the years so my question to anyone who attended at the time is, how dangerous was it? Why were there seemingly more serious injuries/fatalities than other tracks and was it just the lamp standards or were other factors to blame in addition? -
As Dave Lanning commentated at the time, something akin to "and Carter carves up the Collins' boys." Super race in extremely testing conditions. I was there and travelled down from West Yorkshire. Half way down the M1 you would never have believed that they'd get the meeting on. The motorway resembled a swimming pool in some places! Great meeting though with lots of controversy to boot!

The best thing Sam Ermolenko can do is to get all the riders together before the season starts, put up a big screen and then go through all the posts re the Brummies on this Forum. If that doesn't give each one of them motivation to do well then I can't think of anything else that will. If Sam can instill a real sense of team spirit amongst them and a willingness to prove the doubters wrong then they may surprise a few people. I wish them well.

Who from, his hair stylist?

Out of all the teams in the Championship, the Workington one interests me the most. Not only a female rider but a few unknown quantities and I think they will be entertaining to watch and could spring a few surprises. If Cookie and Batch can both get into the mindset where they are determined to prove the doubters wrong and ride to their full capabilities then who knows how far the team can go. I wish the promotion well and for "thinking outside the box" and it's certainly a team which has got people talking. Good luck!

Ipswich Witches 2024 serious team predictions
Tinker replied to SamKM91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Might announce all the riders first and then say who is captain. -
Well said RoundTheBoards. Some people just moan for the sake of it. Two or three days in Tenerife is no big deal. As long as the promoters have utilised their time wisely then there should be nothing to complain about. Also, quite a few of the promoters seem to get a fair bit of stick but at least they're keeping the sport going. If they weren't around who would be there to replace them??

Hey there lbw, glad you got another flat white in just as the season was ending. Commiserations re Poole's loss but I'm sure you will come out fighting again next year. Always enjoy the Poole banter on the Forum and hope it keeps going through the winter months. By the way, had my first ever flat white coffee at Ascot (Champions Day) on Saturday and very enjoyable it was! All the best for next season!

Leicester lions 2023 (PREMIERSHIP)
Tinker replied to PhilTheAce's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
People calling for an end to the season by late August/ mid Sept. They say that October is when the weather turns and they look back over the summer with rose tinted glasses, remembering how lovely the weather was? I seem to remember late June, most of July and quite a few days in August being mostly crap weather with lots of rain about. As Woofy would say, "it is what it is" and British weather will always be very hard to predict. Some October's have been as dry as a bone and I quite enjoy speedway when the nights are fast drawing in and there are four guys racing under floodlights. -
Glasgow V Poole Championship Final 8/10/23 6pm
Tinker replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Hi lbw, are you intending to go up to Glasgow tomorrow? If so, don't forget that flat white before you set off. In fact it's that far you may need three flat whites with a cappuccino thrown in for good measure. I'm a neutral in all this so just hoping for some good racing, a bit of controversy and may the best team win.
