I would definitely go for Holder and Huckenbeck and second choices would be Jensen and Allen.

Really hope that BV can now produce the proverbial rabbit from the hat type of signing. Hopefully it will be someone who will not only get the BV fans talking but British Speedway as a whole.
-
Can't believe BV are struggling to field a team with the set up/track/history/reputation they have. You would think most riders would relish having the NSS as their home track. Must be all down to money?
-
Hi MikeBV My personal thoughts only but I think having a rider just doing your home meetings would be bad for team morale. Plus, I think fans would find it difficult to both identify and connect with the team. The way I see it, you have seven riders who are all part of your team both home and away. Hopefully, this creates a special bond between the riders as was demonstrated by Peterborough last year. I know the guest situation raises a lot of questions with supporters etc but if I was to tell my mates that one of BV's riders was only involved in home meetings they'd think it was pretty much ridiculous.

Have been hoping for some time that Chris Holder could potentially be one of BV's signings. Can see him going really well at the NSS and the move could reignite his career. Here's hoping. As far as Tai is concerned, I'm really glad the Aces didn't give into his supposed demands. It just wouldn't work and the team would end up feeling fragmented and not as one.

I think it could be a Brit, are Woofy and Lambert both signed up in Sweden?
-
Must agree. I usually find Steve's posts interesting and he invariably has something worth saying. His reports on matches and his summing up of riders performances are always worth reading as was the blog re. his trip to Glasgow for the Playoff Final.
-
There are more people "in the know" on here than me so just wondering if the signs are still showing that Chris Holder is committed to Swedish speedway next year? I just hope BV can spring a surprise and sign someone who is not your run of the mill type rider. CH would fit that description admirably.

Find it hard to believe that BV are struggling to get riders in. Great set up and track/stadium etc. Not sure I'd want to go back to the Zagar/Bjerre days though. Those days are gone and they need to move forward. They might surprise us all but I was getting quite excited when Chris Holder's name was mentioned. He's looked great at BV in the past.

Agree, I'm a fan of Jason Doyle. Always been a good servant to British racing and he's still a top name on the world stage. I would definitely want him in my team and a good captain/leader as well.

I thought it was a great spectacle which led to a superb finale. If, as you suggest, there were no play offs and final then the Sunday meeting would have been a dead rubber with no anticipation/excitement etc. and virtually nothing to play for. Perhaps some Polish fans might agree with you but I'm sure the vast majority of people including neutrals, TV viewers etc would prefer it as it was. Sport is all about excitement/edge of your seat stuff right up until the final whistle and the SON for me truly delivered on that score.

Belle Vue v Peterborough Panthers - Grand Final

Hi KSF, take no notice of what some others might say on this Forum. Keep your posts coming because I like them and they're usually quite amusing! -
Belle Vue v Peterborough Panthers - Grand Final
Tinker replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Fantastic match last night (watched it on the TV) and pulsating racing with the final outcome always in the balance. Speedway as it should be and far better than any GP's/SON meetings I've seen this year. Can't wait for the second leg! -
Couldn't agree more. Play offs on a knife edge and not much to choose between the teams. Should be exciting stuff if the weather plays ball. I've enjoyed most of the British speedway coverage this year and definitely something to build on for next year - hopefully a bigger Premier League or even just one big league. New places to visit, different tracks for the cameras, not seeing the same riders all the time etc. Here's hoping! Here's my points system for this year's TV action (out of ten). British Speedway 7.5, Grand Prix 5, SON 3. The GP's have gone stale and need new life and the SON in no shape or form matches up to the old WTC. Just my opinion of course.

Panthers vs. Tigers 20/09 Live on EUROSPORT
Tinker replied to BartoszZmarzlikFan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I enjoyed the meeting and although the track surface has been questioned I thought there was some decent racing. Both the Premier and Championship Leagues are now heading for an exciting conclusion and I for one have definitely enjoyed the British stuff much more than either the GP's or Son. Closer racing and look at some of the scores this year where not many points separate the teams. Weather permitting I reckon the play off semis and finals will be edge of your seat stuff and it's all boiling up very nicely. Hopefully there will be some changes in place for next year though with either one main league or a larger Premiership. This has to be the way to go, a six team league is not the way forward. -
Lots of moaners on here tonight again about the track, the racing and everything else you can have a moan about but I think it was a decent meeting which kept my interest from start to finish. Far better than any GP I've seen recently which to be honest are really starting to bore the pants off me. British Speedway is not as bad as what a lot of people on this forum make it out to be ... just give it a chance and stop moaning so much.

Plymouth v Newcastle Tuesday 31st August
Tinker replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Even though I live in Yorkshire I have kind of adopted Plymouth as my Championship team and always look out for their results. They seem to have had a successful year so far so well done to everyone concerned. The other team I have a soft spot for is Berwick. Here's hoping both teams can look forward to a successful 2022! -
Rather silly comment to make unless you have any information to back it up? There's probably only so much that the people in charge can do if a club suffers serious financial losses. They certainly won't have masses of cash to throw at the problem. The sport in this country does need a total overhaul though to give it any chance of surviving the next decade and beyond.

I agree with most of what had been said on this topic. The GP's in their current form just aren't doing it for me anymore. After a lengthy absence I got back into Speedway in 2014 and couldn't wait for each GP to be televised. I also went to Cardiff four times, Poland three times and twice to Prague. Great times I have to say but there is now something seriously lacking which has been evident for the past couple of years at least. The points scoring system doesn't do it for me and I think they should revert back to what it was - every point counts. There are several riders at the moment who are just making up the numbers and when they're out on track you can pretty much predict the result. There don't seem to be any riders in the Nikki P mould and the lack of any controversy seems to have taken the excitement away. In effect, the GPs are very much becoming "same old, same old" and in my view a total revamp is required. As things stand, I would much rather watch British Speedway (didn't think I'd be saying that four years ago) and I really look forward to the matches on Eurosport. The stadiums etc might not be up to much etc but most matches I've seen have had some reasonably good racing with the odd bit of controversy thrown in. I think at the end of the day I probably prefer team racing as opposed to individual events. Anyway, back to the GP's, I hope there are major changes planned for next year (different format, new stadiums etc) to get that buzz back. Fingers crossed!

RIP British Speedway
Tinker replied to BartoszZmarzlikFan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Great idea Falcon. I would have Edinburgh in the top league though so that there would still be the money spinning derbies with Glasgow. Different teams, different venues to visit, different towns/cities etc. Would be great! -
British Final 2021
Tinker replied to Midland Red's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Yes, well said. The IOW topic and Connor Coles is getting a tad boring now. It seems folk are just looking for something to moan about, as usual! Back to the British Final, come on Dan!
