  1. I felt sorry for Danny Ford and his Poole Pirates being booed at the start of the meeting. Rest assured it was not the Oxford supporters - it was the away fans!
  2. I discovered the reason why and the racing has been superb.
  3. First and foremost, Oxford Stadium is a greyhound stadium. The owner is quite happy to allow speedway on site. Often, as on Thursday there is greyhound racing during the day and I suspect the track curator was unable to to water and grade consistently throughout the day. Yes the delays at the start of the meeting were frustrating but it still finished at 21.25 hours precisely. Will Oxford speedway lose custom as a result of Thursday's meeting? Absolutely not. We had 2 track records and some fantastic racing with multiple passing and re-passing. Just look at the Speedway Updates proboards to check that out - gate and go it was not. Despite many people stating that Oxford were set up to fail with 3 teams, that was never going to happen because we are delighted to have regular speeday each week. One final point, the promotion have been brilliant since the re-opening. So, onwards and upwards.
  4. Heat 13. It must be too smooth and dusty for the Aces now!
  5. There are no bumps on the track and now a second track record from Dan B.
  6. Don't know who is moaning about the track? It can't be that bad when there is a new track record in heat 4.
  7. What is your basis for saying that Championship speedway is unlikely in 2025? The attendances for both leagues are good and supporters seem to relish regular, weekly meetings.
  8. Thanks to Chrisdonnelly for the info on food venues nearby. I will take your advice.
  9. I have not been the the NSS before but have tickets for the final. We will be stopping off in Stockport and catching a bus in. I don't particularly want a burger and chips on-site and wonder if there are any half-decent eateries nearby? Any suggestions appreciated.

  11. Why did I waste my money to stand in a dust cloud? There is no excuse and it is not acceptable. However, congrats to Chris Holder on the track record.
  12. I am a long - time Oxford supporter but I think the Sandy Lane raceway should be re - named "The Dustbowl". On the apex of bends one and two, I had a job to see through the dust cloud who won heat 1. Up to heat 6 and no real racing with some riders struggling to stay on. Such a shame because the action is normally superb.
  13. To all travelling Poole fans, Another dry, warm day. Should be good racing but could be like a sandstorm. Make sure you bring goggles and appropriate plugs to keep the dust out of all orifices!! M
  14. Let's not forget we are very lucky to have speedway at Oxford and most weeks as well. When I think back to how the track was in the 80's and particularly the 90's - it was frankly diabolical. In most meetings you were lucky to get an overtake after heat 5! Since the re-opening and especially this year, we have had some fantastic racing throughout the meetings. The track prep has been spot-on. They seem to have more shale on the outside and rip it up to provide more than one racing line Also, I was never a fan of 2nd division speedway but at Oxford I am a convert. As to last night, I was in Cowley all afternoon and the rain forecast for 3pm did not happen. I have no idea if the track was watered but it was certainly dry and dusty at the start. The rain only started at 19.30 and was a very thick drizzle which seems to soak everything as much as torrential rain and it did not stop. I've no idea what it looked like on TV but In my opinion (being there) the track was dangerous at the end and the referee had no option but to cancel the meeting. Maybe wet-weather tyres would have helped! In addition, I was in the packed bar at the end and nobody there critisised what happened. So, onwards and up upwards and I look forward to the meeting next Wednesday
  15. Why on earth is the Oxford track so incredibly dry and dusty again?
