Even in the boat race Oxford don't have an anchor so there's no need for Jack Smith.

Why is Speedway so far behind Formula 1?
Technik replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
If you can go to your local track to watch speedway each week or when you think it will be a better event you can choose. F1 comes to your country once a year weather its a good race or as dull as ditch water you will pay the entry fee to watch. -
I believe over the years the options have been taken away & now all the fans are left with is a set menu. There is now nothing for the terrace manager to discuss. All that can be done in todays speedway is to put a TS in when you go 6 behind & this is only once. I think teams should start with a named squad of ten riders working with a team on a set average & then must track a team of riders below that limit all season so that teams are kept level all season. The top 5 should be able to be positioned where they are most suited & paired up as the manager wants. Tac Subs should be unlimited but only when 8 or more behind with riders only allowed one per meeting.

If he didn't ride enough meetings to qualify for an average then Poole cannot claim him as an asset. So no fee is required for the transfer as I understand it. But have Poole made a profit out of Basso?...... They won the Championship & KoC double!!!!!!

Don't take it to heart fella. If Lynn had signed Laguta Woffinden & Lambert some would complain that we didn't get Zmarslik & Lindgren. If you think the team will finish bottom then lets hope your dissapointed at the end of the season when Lewi Kerr lifts the cup...... In every cloud.....

I'm not a big fan of Kildemind, I think he has a horrible style & on a grippy track he could come unstuck. He doe's tend to use other riders for brakes when he enters a turn too fast & is known to take a death slide if anyone comes underneath him. But all that said he can make a trap & win races. This KL team is built not to score any zeros other than Thomas. I can see Lynn recording a lot of 3 - 3 scores home & away. You only need a single heat advantage to take a win. Having a rider of Jason Doyles undoubted skills lead your team is fantastic but he can only score 3 points in each race he's in & if his partner is last then there is little to gain. The KL team is built solid & if they stay healthy they should make the play offs in 22.

Don't forget Swindon

I don't honestly believe George Congrieve will make it in the British Championship league. The competition in NZ is not great once you get beyond BWD. Andrew Aldridge who tried NL then went home Bradley Andrews the same result Ryan Terry Daley another of the same standard. I hope he makes it but I have serious doubts
-
You can include Oxfordshire, Berkshire & Wiltshire in that list.

On the Kiwi side there is Bob Andrews who I believe represented both GB & NZ

Nikki Glanz was born in Swindon. Jason Crump born in Bristol. I believe Mark Loram was born in Malta

I can only speculate as to his reasons to want to sell Poole speedway. However it's no secret that the Ford family have purchased a French mansion house & are in the midst of renovating it as we can all see on a much publishised TV programme. I would hazzard a guess that they would like to use the monies from a sale of the speedway to pay for their next project in France. Now why the club failed to sell I have no idea but I understand there were interested parties but none put pen to paper.

I don't think we hear to many complaints from Mr Ford about not making money & it has to be said he & his Poole team have been front runners in collecting silveware. He builds a team within a budget & sticks to it. Riders come from all nations to race for him so I guess he must be doing something right in Dorset.
-
I don't know what it is with Cook but he always seems to rub clubs up the wrong way. I can't honestly see him getting a start at KL or Peterborough all the time Chapman & Allitt are involved.
-
I think it would take just a single SGP rider to start the ball rolling. Jason would be the first choice, He has already said he prefers to race than practice so more league racing would suit him. Or Nicki Pedersen who is in the twilight of his career would he go to race in Poland Sweden Denmark & UK as a final swansong, maybe Chris Holder who is not at his World Champion form but still a top star in league racing. I can't see the Polish nationals jumping ship as they have to much at stake with selection for SGP SoN & SEC events in the hands of their version of the BSPA.
-
If I am understanding correctly Jason Doyle will race in Britain in 2022 as well as Sweden & still be in the Polish league. will this make him the first rider to put two fingers up to the restrictive Polish contract restrictions? If it is well done Jason Doyle.

Benfund 2022
Technik replied to secsy1's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I like the idea in theory. However would fans of now defunct clubs travel to support a rider that most likely has never represented their club. The Ben Fund meeting is very important & I wish some of the more established riders would step up rather than it be a couple of reasonable stars from PL/CL with the rest being NDL riders. -
Oxford Cheetahs 2022
Technik replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think they will be forced to come back into the top league by the BSPA as they can't continue with only 6 clubs in that league. -
Rule change for tape exclusion
Technik replied to Endeavour's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The start marshal's need to be stronger & in a lot of cases less biased. Riders must be no more than 4 inchs away from the tapes. The tapes should be the same hight as the centre of the front wheel so that if a rider moves he will touch the tape instead of going under them before they move. A two minute clock needs to be in place & used correctly. If the rider is not ready at zero then out he go's & the Refs must not turn it off when it gets to 10 seconds to give riders more time to garden. -
Years ago we tested a very thin oil from Shell & their view was it would be more efficent than the heavier oils as it did not need to get up to temperture to be at working viscosity. It was a good oil but very expensive. A former Oxford rider used Mobil 1 from the garage for a while.

I'm not sure that only 5 promoters would benefit from a bigger league but the top league must employ a further 4 clubs to make a viable competition. A 10 team league with 2 home & 2 away meetings with each gives all clubs 18 home fixtures. This has to be a more appealing season for any fan base. But of course there is the problem of where to find suitable riders to fill those extra 4 teams. I hope by next season travel will be much easier & Poland can relax their strangle hold on the Worlds riders.

Both Lahti & Becker rode in the qualification rounds so had 9 & 8 rides to their credit prior to the 6 lap final. Jack holder was also involved in the opening rounds but was unbeaten until the semi finals. Dudek & Doyle were by far the best on the day & rightly took the top two steps. Doyle wanted to be the first to take four victories on the trot but it was not to be. This is a fantastic event for which the Pardubice club deserve huge credit for their organisation in bringing all these competitors together for a full weekend of speedway & flat track in all the events a total of 99 race jackets had to be filled for 4 events over 3 days.
