  1. Nikki Glanz was born in Swindon. Jason Crump born in Bristol. I believe Mark Loram was born in Malta
  2. I can only speculate as to his reasons to want to sell Poole speedway. However it's no secret that the Ford family have purchased a French mansion house & are in the midst of renovating it as we can all see on a much publishised TV programme. I would hazzard a guess that they would like to use the monies from a sale of the speedway to pay for their next project in France. Now why the club failed to sell I have no idea but I understand there were interested parties but none put pen to paper.
  3. I don't think we hear to many complaints from Mr Ford about not making money & it has to be said he & his Poole team have been front runners in collecting silveware. He builds a team within a budget & sticks to it. Riders come from all nations to race for him so I guess he must be doing something right in Dorset.
  4. I don't know what it is with Cook but he always seems to rub clubs up the wrong way. I can't honestly see him getting a start at KL or Peterborough all the time Chapman & Allitt are involved.
  5. Is it the first weekend in October again? Sorry. I did'nt read the full headline only what was on the menu. Sept 25. I wonder if they will go for the SEC final on the Friday rather than the U21 final again
  6. I think it would take just a single SGP rider to start the ball rolling. Jason would be the first choice, He has already said he prefers to race than practice so more league racing would suit him. Or Nicki Pedersen who is in the twilight of his career would he go to race in Poland Sweden Denmark & UK as a final swansong, maybe Chris Holder who is not at his World Champion form but still a top star in league racing. I can't see the Polish nationals jumping ship as they have to much at stake with selection for SGP SoN & SEC events in the hands of their version of the BSPA.
  7. If I am understanding correctly Jason Doyle will race in Britain in 2022 as well as Sweden & still be in the Polish league. will this make him the first rider to put two fingers up to the restrictive Polish contract restrictions? If it is well done Jason Doyle.
  8. I like the idea in theory. However would fans of now defunct clubs travel to support a rider that most likely has never represented their club. The Ben Fund meeting is very important & I wish some of the more established riders would step up rather than it be a couple of reasonable stars from PL/CL with the rest being NDL riders.
  9. I think they will be forced to come back into the top league by the BSPA as they can't continue with only 6 clubs in that league.
  10. The start marshal's need to be stronger & in a lot of cases less biased. Riders must be no more than 4 inchs away from the tapes. The tapes should be the same hight as the centre of the front wheel so that if a rider moves he will touch the tape instead of going under them before they move. A two minute clock needs to be in place & used correctly. If the rider is not ready at zero then out he go's & the Refs must not turn it off when it gets to 10 seconds to give riders more time to garden.
  11. Years ago we tested a very thin oil from Shell & their view was it would be more efficent than the heavier oils as it did not need to get up to temperture to be at working viscosity. It was a good oil but very expensive. A former Oxford rider used Mobil 1 from the garage for a while.
  12. There is a time when your surrounded by aligators you can forget that your job was to drain the swamp.
  13. I'm not sure that only 5 promoters would benefit from a bigger league but the top league must employ a further 4 clubs to make a viable competition. A 10 team league with 2 home & 2 away meetings with each gives all clubs 18 home fixtures. This has to be a more appealing season for any fan base. But of course there is the problem of where to find suitable riders to fill those extra 4 teams. I hope by next season travel will be much easier & Poland can relax their strangle hold on the Worlds riders.
  14. Both Lahti & Becker rode in the qualification rounds so had 9 & 8 rides to their credit prior to the 6 lap final. Jack holder was also involved in the opening rounds but was unbeaten until the semi finals. Dudek & Doyle were by far the best on the day & rightly took the top two steps. Doyle wanted to be the first to take four victories on the trot but it was not to be. This is a fantastic event for which the Pardubice club deserve huge credit for their organisation in bringing all these competitors together for a full weekend of speedway & flat track in all the events a total of 99 race jackets had to be filled for 4 events over 3 days.
  15. For the U21 event I would expect 2 groups of 6 with the other 6 seeded to the semi final stage. The seeded 6 will be those that are in the FIM U21 on Friday + the best of the rest. Just my guess. No facts were harmed in the make up of this post.
  16. I used to live on the flightpath for Heathrow airport & back in the day we used to witness Concorde fly over twice each day. The local people that had been there years would look up & see the big dart shaped plane & say "Must be 11:00 there's Big Nose" whilst new people would complain about the noise. There was one woman that sent a complaint to the council about the noise that she encountered each day when Concorde flew over saying it was unbearable for the 2 or 3 minutes that she could hear the supersonic jet fly over. The councils reply was that she should close her windows for a few minutes each day to reduce the noise level in her house.
  17. That's putting a lot of pressure on a kid that has limited experience on British tracks
  18. Most complaints are first submitted about 30 minutes prior to the first race. Which as we all know is when the bikes are warmed up in the pits, This is the only time when more than four machines will be running at one time on the downside it is the most prolonged time span. When someone is that annoyed they are prepared to make a complaint then the following 15 races could tip them over the edge. with the start positioned on the other side the exausts will be away from the housing so the noise levels will be lowered in the residential areas. If I were the promotion I'd go around to those houses in February & give them a season ticket. It's much harder to complain if you have taken a gift beforehand
  19. And he won the year before as well so a tri-fecta for Doyle. If he can race to victory he will create history by being the first to take 4 on the trot
  20. It's a great little venue & offers some excellent racing. They have a very dedicated group of club members but have very tight restrictions as to when they can run speedway.
  21. Kelly had a gift, But he didn't always use it well, but when he wanted it he was among the very best. Shawn worked at his craft a little harder & got better results in the big meetings but for Kelly it was always about having fun with the boys
  22. You don't need any extra staff for that, Just a 2 minute clock, Make the riders be ready when it gets to zero & most importantly a Referee strong enough to exclude a rider when their not ready at zero
  23. I wonder of there will be any British involvement this year with all the restrictions
