  1. Still concerned about the forecast for later. Rain expected in the afternoon into early evening. But no sign of a call off - Twitter pics show the track looking decent. Could go either way later.
  2. Rain is forecast, but generally light. About 0.6mm per hour. It’s generally been good this week, but when it has rained, it’s been furious. No pictures from the track work so hard to know how good the track is. The garden soil is generally in good condition though so maybe that’s a good sign!
  3. I can’t say it has ever bothered me really. We all know riders get injured, so guests are fundamental to the sport. I don’t mind if Chris Harris turns up with the visitors at Ashfield every week really. I do think once a guest is announced, they should only be replaced if injured/sick. And I do think if a rider isn’t coming back, they should be formally replaced with a permanent replacement. Apart from that, I don’t really see too many issues. There are already rules about how often you can guest for a team, or at a track, aren’t there?
  4. Listening to Sam interviewing the managers before heat 15, it’s hard to believe he’s a former speedway rider at all. He didn’t seem to understand what was going on at all.
  5. It's all relative. Still some good passing last night. Bomber did Craig on the inside and the outside, so clearly he could make both ways work. I was stood at the entry to the third bend and to could definitely tell some made the outside work, and others couldn't, more so than normal. We're lucky we get nights where it seems there's passing in every heat, which I think just means we notice it all the more when there's a little less than we normally see.
  6. Was it just me who thought Harris did nothing wrong in heat 13? Looked a clean move on Cookie and Starke for my end of the back straight.
  7. Says a lot when you think the best chance is beating Cookie at Ashfield. It happened more often last season but he's looking on good form so far this year.
  8. No Monarch outscored their respective Tiger tonight. The score flattered the home side. Masters wasn’t strong enough tonight - 1 win from 6 rides. Ulle was on much better form today - only beaten by Castagna in heat 12. Connor much better than last time - as many points as his last 5 visits. Just need a Broc to find something. Track was definitely better. Nice to see Sarjeant getting some results too.
  9. We often look good early season. The key is how we look after taking the knocks throughout the season.
  10. Well, the racing at Berwick was much better than usual a couple of weeks ago, so I'm going to see if Armadale can provide the same tonight. Wasn't a great meeting last time Glasgow were there but hopefully this time we'll see some good action. Great evening for it.
  11. I don’t get what’s in it for Glasgow to consider moving to the Premiership though? Smaller league, more costs, no local matches… what am I missing?
  12. Yes, but it’s cash only. You can buy your food with a card, but not the admission ticket.
  13. I’d agree. Berwick were better than the score suggests. Craig didn’t gate well last night, but conditions were different to a week ago. Ulle still needs a few weeks to be 100% I think and he looked frustrated in a couple of heats last night. But he’ll get there, and he did get a paid max last week, put with 8 from 4 rides last night, so he’s not doing badly. You can just see there is a bit more to come . He pulled an important block on Chris Harris in heat 9 even though he finished last in the race. I think having Tom at 5 and Ulle at 3 is working nicely. Broc is a bit of a weak link at the moment but he got better as the meeting went on and was practicing afterwards, along with Ulle. Seemed to be getting a bit of help from Tom and Craig. Connor’s been phenomenal. 9+1 last week, 9+2 this week. Fabulous passing in heats 8 and 12. We knew he was better than his average but he’s killing it right now.
  14. The speedway is currently delayed for 10 minutes because it's too sunny. In Glasgow!
  15. They are watering the track. Shouldn't be a dust bowl like Oxford was on Wednesday.
  16. It was a really nice pass he'd just made too. He definitely had the space to come back down from the fence. I think he just misjudged it and thought he was clear. I didn't see him get up as I was up on the third bend (cracking view!) and the ambulance was blocking my view but it did appear he got up on his feet after a few minutes.
  17. Should say it was closed because they were past curfew, and George Rothery took a nasty fall on the exit on turn four. Ambulance on track.
  18. Meeting closed after 14 heats. 55-29 according to the scoreboard. 56-28 according to the centre green announcer. I was busy keeping warm by eating chips, and had stopped recording the score. Easy home win either way.
  19. Referee is Graeme Hunter. Hopefully he's been to Specsavers since Redcar.
  20. Can't say I've ever noticed anyone else struggle with that. It's only a 20 second run at most and the top is in easy hollering distance. They just weren't interested.
  21. Decent day for it, so decided to make the trip. Decent smattering of Edinburgh fans have made the trip too.
  22. Ulle looked good in his first couple of rides. I felt perhaps he was missing a little in his other rides and maybe better opposition would have found him out. But it’s the first fixture and it I’m sure he’ll be more polished with a few more rides - and perhaps it was his bike more than him. He made a nice pass around the outside for one heat win. Connor and Craig were brilliant too. Craig helpfully missed the start in one ride to practice his passing, got round all three riders in less than two laps. Looked as good as he ever has. This is a very, very strong team at Ashfield.
