  1. A few decent passes tonight. Mostly from Aaron Summers. He’s been good value.
  2. Depends. Edinburgh potentially not being around next year doesn’t help, but there’s still Berwick not too far away. Northside would make is better as well. For the Premiership to be worthwhile for Glasgow, we’d need more teams further north, IMO, but definitely more teams. Five opponents and a league of six is embarrassing. Especially when two of those teams have been hopeless all year. We see quality racing in the Championship, and a variety of teams, and to me that’s the most important consideration. We don’t need to replicate the SFL with half a dozen games between Montrose and Raith Rovers every year. It gets old.
  3. So what happens if the QF isn't done by this cutoff that's been mentioned earlier?
  4. Probably because he chose gate 2 in the semi, and Madsen thought it better to get to the inside of him. I would have done the same. Then I would have crashed into the pit gate, because I can’t ride a speedway bike.
  5. I disagree. We've seen more passing here than at Cardiff. Not a lot more, but more.
  6. Just call it the summer trophy again if that's a problem.
  7. It turns out, it doesn’t have to. The right call. I expect all football fixtures will be cancelled this weekend. I see the cricket has been cancelled already.
  8. I agree, I'm just comparing the options. I think a break is inevitable.
  9. To be fair, we've discovered Glasgow and Edinburgh could rotate Friday nights and aside from the odd rain-off, still fit their fixtures in before others are ready for the playoffs! You could guarantee Friday night speedway every week and I reckon you'd only need a couple of extra Sunday fixtures. Especially if away fixtures were coordinated well - I know that's asking a lot for the league, but it can be done.
  10. Looking purely at financials, wouldn’t Ashfield make more sense? The track is already there, it’s equipped, and therefore there’s a certain amount of sunk costs already invested in the Tigers. Of course it relies on agreement - maybe Tigers’/Monarchs’ management have reasons not to make an arrangement (concern over Edinburgh supporters coming to the Glasgow track, maybe concern over the Glasgow track getting too much racing!) , but if both were options, surely Shawfield would cost more.
  11. I guess there’s all sorts of questions around financial viability and how many people would turn up, but I’d certainly make an effort to be there as often as possible if there was such an arrangement. The other issue with Ashfield is we can’t accommodate a training track, as the centre green is a football field. Same issue at Berwick, if anyone was considering that. It would be a real shame if Edinburgh couldn’t run, not least because that’s a loss to both the Championship and the NDL.
  12. Looked good when I checked yesterday, but today it says 26mm of rain expected on Friday.
  13. That’s incredibly disappointing. It looked like a great proposal. Nicer track than the current one, better facilities, no further to travel from Glasgow from a purely selfish perspective too. I hope they can find an alternative.
  14. Penultimate home league fixture was completed 11 weeks ago this coming Friday! And from the first fixture at home to that fixture… also 11 weeks.
  15. It’s been so long I couldn’t pick the Allied Vehicles parking attendant out from a lineup.
  16. I do think it would be fairer if they shared a point each and the heat decided an extra point for the winner of that heat.
  17. It can be, but it adds to the fun (or not, if your team loses), excitement and emotion. Gives the crowd something to get them really excited about and to talk about on the way home. I'll bet kids particularly love it. They don't fill in the winning times and moan about the tractor going past just as Hugh Brown goes past the speakers, but they love a next goal/race/whatever wins (as long as they/their team wins, of course). And it teaches them sometimes life is unfair, just like when the kids' race is cancelled because the adults couldn't stay on their bikes enough and the track staff want to get home
  18. I'm still confused. I go to speedway for high octane, exciting racing. I can't think of any reason I wouldn't want to see extra excitement for free unless either 1) it's the world's most boring track, 2) I'm a miserable old fart, or 3) I'm afraid my ticker's on the blink. Imagine if you were afflicted by all three
  19. All this complaining about the super heat, but it was one of the best heats of the night! definitely a tough watch for a lot of the meeting, but got better later on. Partially the track, partially Jason Doyle making it exciting… Just to truly make everyone lose their minds, why not draw balls for the heat 16 riders?!
  20. Timing hasn’t been a big issue. Heat 3 took three attempts with a pause for Starke. It’s been pushed on well outside that. Nice to see Basso finally giving us something to watch. If Kelv wants to see how he does it, he should visit Ashfield…
  21. For all the complaints we hear about Monmore Green, I don’t think we’ve seen a single pass here yet.
