Given the age of speedway fans, I’d agree. But equally ridiculous other places don’t take contactless. Speedway is the only place I ever need to use cash. A shame the Tigers missed out on a few extra points last night, but I always think any points on your travels are good points. Good to see Danton scoring well last night - shows a lot of different riders contributing at different times. Shows good potential. But anyone expecting Ulle to match his average from last year is in cloud cuckoo land for me. He’s a great leader for the team, he’s a good racer, the fans love him… but his average was very high. We all knew it. It was mentioned in the thread before he was re-signed. No regrets, he’s still an important part of the team, glad we’ve got him, but I don’t think the Tigers’ management expected him to match his average.

Also, just not enough teams. It's not attractive as a fan. I hope someone can bring Newcastle back. We needs teams opening, not closing, and having seen the Rockets close twice, I don't like seeing any team lost.

Stripes (Glasgow) Vs Oxford champ 17th June
Noelinho replied to Jaizer's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I’m not sure I ever heard Tigers fans wanting shot of him. There’s been frustration at his results, but I’ve not heard anyone say any of the riders should be dropped. Craig started the season really well, but hasn’t been himself recently (although engine issues in one meeting didn’t help). Connor was great at reserve but is understandably finding it tougher at 2 Ulle is fitting in well at 3. Not as strong as last year, but last year he was exceptional. He’s a bit short on speed but he shows his experience. Basso has been pretty reliable and last night he was unbelievably good. Tom’s hit double figures in 6 of his 11 full meetings. Danyon’s similar to Connor - does well at reserve, found it harder at 2. Broc really struggled early, has improved since he moved to reserve (with a blip at Scunthorpe). The biggest impact has been Craig and Ulle - their averages are going down. Everyone else is at around their season starting average, or above it. If Craig can get closer to his start of season performances, the weakest link is at 2. But that’s offset by being strong at reserve. Playoffs aren’t for another two months. Let’s be honest, the biggest factor is often making sure your riders are fit when you get there. -

Seems a tiny bit insensitive to play The Chain after Josh MacDonald's fall in heat 14! -

Realistically, he didn't look like scoring more than a point. -

True enough. Shame the ref fell for it. He even jumped the restart and still finished last! -

Bachelor cynically chucked his bike on the floor there. He even looked back at the referee's box whilst he did it. -

Track looks great. Should stay dry. Blustery as usual. Got a decent portion of chips on the tracks straight. Looking forward to some good action. -

I don’t think the track staff at Glasgow tend to find the covers are incredibly helpful, and putting them on and removing them is very consuming. It’s not like cricket covers. I remember one of the track staff responding to someone who asked in relation to the Poland Test Match last year, but I can’t find it. -

If the weather allowed, in theory, yes. But does become problematic for attendees. -

1) you need to guarantee 100 people will buy the stream 2) yes, you can do it cheaper if it’s all in-house, but that also requires some up front cost. If it’s an external production company, it gets expensive quickly. It’s always easier to tell other people to risk their money. Anyone fancy offering to self fund it for the promotion and split any profits? -

Unlike some, I don’t expect the promotion to lose money for my entitled convenience. They already do a great job and put in a lot of money. I’ll be back on Friday when the Cheetahs visit. -

There's been rain in Partick this morning. Windy and definitely not warm. Suspect it will go ahead but I'm going to give it a miss today. Partly the weather and partly because 3pm on a Sunday makes getting other things done a bit awkward. -

Also, more competition this year, with more teams streaming, plus BSN. I think a lot of people overlook that. There’s no way they were making money on just Glasgow fans. -

I think there’s a certain amount of anti-Cami baked in to some of these responses, which I do understand. But Hume had won two races. Yes, Broc looked good, but not so much better that it was clear cut, and with some of his struggles this season, he could have gone into heat 14, come last, and then Cami would get blasted for putting in the rider who’s struggled all year. Hume and Nicol were both good options for heat 14 on paper. The tie wasn’t lost in heat 14. Going into lap 4 of heat 15, it was still going to golden heats… you could point to Craig’s engine issues, or him going through the tapes in heat 1 last night, or Broc doing it in the same heat… or not putting Ulle in heat 15 yesterday. That was a much bigger mistake, for me. To be honest, it didn’t really feel like the Tigers won by 14 on the night. It felt much closer. Everyone made a contribution but it just wasn’t quite enough. 17 points from the guests for the Monarchs was a decent return. Also shout out to Dillon Ruml - 7 rides, 7 third places. Didn’t set the place on fire, but he did what he needed to. -

Bit harsh to say Hume shouldn't be in heat 14. He won his first two rides. Yeah, he came last in heat 11, but he'd ridden every bit well enough to justify keeping it for 14. -

Tom Brennan was also on a max. Unless you think Broc should've been in Craig's place... -

Mechanical. Although the third time, he was understandably very frustrated. Hopefully the long pause has helped his cause. -

Hurt, but no hospital visit required. Still fixing the fence. Sun is still out but it's getting a bit windier and the temperature is dropping. We'll have to wait a bit longer to see how bad this week's post-heat 10 collapse is. -

We have a bit of a delay. Kye Thomson came off on the back straight in heat 12. I don't really know what happened. It seems there was contact with the metal fence as the track workers are looking at it. Kye is in the ambulance and we're told he is sat up and talking. He's been excluded. But I don't know what happened - I think he was at the back and all I saw was the bike cartwheel to a stop in line with me. -

I think Craig Cook has just about completed four laps in his three races combined. Scores would almost be level if his bike hadn't kept packing up. We're not going to close 10 points in the last five races. -

Even sunnier and warmer than yesterday for the return leg. And no pesky stand for the sun to hide behind later - it got very cold for the fingers on that third bend last night. No idea how this will pan out. Tigers should score very well at reserve at home. Brennan should outscore Sedgmen too, but I can't remember when he was last here. Tigers can easily score 54 but the team never seem to deal with pressure very well. -
Edinburgh v Glasgow KO Friday 3rd June
Noelinho replied to Al Stewart's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Masters and Pickering were on great form tonight. The night looked bad for the Tigers from the off, with Craig going through the tapes and then Broc replacing him and doing the same. Gating was poor, and most of the boys stuck to the inside when the Edinburgh boys were clearly favouring the outside. Didn't really understand why we sent Tom out again in heat 15 when Ulle had scored in every ride. He wasn't setting the place on fire, but he was solid. And whilst it didn't change anything, it's mad that heat 8 is a protected heat (obvs doesn't apply in KO Cup with no tactical subs), yet you can put a better rider in under R/R. Surely it would be logical to make it so that heat can only be covered by the other reserve? It's a lot to make up tomorrow, but I guess it depends who turns up. All I know is it won't be Chris Harris.
