  1. Sad news indeed. Saw him many times over the years always had time for a chat and an autograph, he was a regular at the Sunderland speedway reunions and was a great story teller. God bless him.
  2. Nothing will be announced till the number of clubs participating is decided ( one club still thinking of moving up, 2 others waiting to see how there stadiums will cope with any restriction ) and others now waiting to see if they can get a competitive team together under the new rules. They can’t release anything till they know who’s in , which makes sense. They don't want to say something silly like “ fixtures will be posted next week “ and then nothing happens!
  3. Well they have had their meeting / AGM, now stand by for the bombshell to explode....some of you aren’t going to like it.
  4. Having listened to another clubs latest promoter interviews it was interesting to hear that Somerset’s riders were mostly signed up by other clubs before the AGM took place suggesting the usual back scratching going on around the top table mafia. Gutted we’ve ended up with the bad apple and he’s already hit the social media headlines for all the wrong reasons!
  5. Somerset signed Jason Doyle, a world champion , and their wage bill increased massively but the crowd level went up exactly zero percent. Good financial sense ?
  6. Might just be because the clubs can’t afford them. They are trying to reduce costs not increase them.
  7. This would be the Saphires team ! I did say there would be a drop in standards , because most of the previous heat leaders in the NL will be riding as graded reserves in the championship so that equals out. Joe and Josh become experienced riders in this new level with the likes of Archie, Dean and others getting a chance to show there worth. Is that what the NL was intended to be , a platform for new youngsters ?
  8. So now you can name 5 Dave , you only need 2 more and there’s a few within a 50 mile radius who could ride in what will be a much lower standard NL including your own Dean Douglas , who does seem to get forgotten about at Brough. I know he’s a bit raw but he’s keen. There’s even a couple of potential young lads down the road who I’m sure would ride and others who attend their amateur meetings that could be considered.
  9. You’ve just proved what I said....your a bell end.
  10. Not sure they / you can grade the likes of Cole’s, Phillips, Ruddick with all their experience in the Championship and NL the same as Kelly , Palin, Gilkes, who have one season in the NL. But then I don’t agree that J Smith or Thomas should be below some of the 4’s so it’s personal choice I suppose.
  11. Yet the guy who ran the ‘ training school ‘ says he doesn’t know where the riders will come from ? Strange statement.
  12. Doesn’t matter where in the country I’m from, your idiotic conspiracy theory doesn’t belong on any page never mind a speedway discussion. You've contributed nothing , just made a ridiculous statement. Having lost a relative and two good friends to something you claim doesn’t exist is just insulting.
  13. Unless this is supposed to be funny, which it isn’t, then your coming across as a right bell end .
  14. Hang on, we have Josh, Archie, Danny, and Dean then throw in Alcock and we had Wallinger lined up so that is six to start with , throw in someone like Danny Phillips ( local and without a team ) and you have a team, and that’s without going looking far.
  15. I’d be interested to know how many new riders are going to be required for the 5 year plan to last that long. Looking at the youth rounds entry list we will run out of riders before 5 years is up as no one new has taken up the sport last year or this!
  16. If previous experience is anything to go by Vatcher will have no say whatsoever on gradings which will be being done by a member of the top table mafia or their appointee like it’s always done. Clubs will approach the ‘ youngsters ‘ directly and it will be a case of the club giving the best guarantee that gets their first choice. Its a good idea but , as per usual, money will dictate who goes where.
  17. Are we to get to see the ‘ graded list ‘ of who gets what stars so we can all play guess the signing ?
  18. You’ve partially answered your own question. Godfrey WILL do what he wants. He CAN run any day he likes as it’s his stadium with little in the way of restrictions, the simple answer is he makes good money off hiring the track out at weekends ( amateur meetings , stocks etc ) so he’s not going to financially penalise himself by going back to Sunday’s. He is also the chairman of the mafia and so will do what he wants and others will do as they are told, Peterborough and Workington being recent examples who were dictated to by him and Buster and forget the ‘ benefit of the sport ‘. Your ‘ dream ‘ is just that, a dream, sadly.
  19. It’s not Scunthorpe attendance Godfrey is worried about, it’s the lack of available guest riders with so many Friday night tracks , Scunthorpe, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Redcar, that’s eight teams already committed out of 11 or 12 in the division . You need a number 1? you now only have 3 or 4 to choose from and some of them might be injured or unavailable. For once it makes sense not to have another Friday night track , wherever it is.
  20. Your missing the point of how speedway tracks are run . For Bradford to get up and running it needs someone with a bucket load of money to go in there as ‘ Speedway ‘ ( I’m assuming you mean the BSPA? ) don’t have the money to open anything. Who is going to throw big bucks at speedway in the current climate ? Clubs are closing rather than lose more money so it doesn’t make any business sense. I also understand the current outline of the stock car track would not lend itself to the old speedway track so there’s no short term plan to include a speedway track. Bradford is not a realistic option at present.
  21. If it has its own meetings , separate from the premiership and championship promoters then it runs itself . I do get it has to follow the Bspa rules but then it should, you don’t see the rules in football being different in the Conference division to the Premiership .
  22. Yes, any championship coverage would be an extra and not included in the contract. The contract stated a minimum of participating clubs and fixtures. Sky used to cover a few championship meetings but this is a different arrangement.
  23. You need to get your facts right. The NL has been independently run for several years, they have their own meetings and don’t pay any fees to the BSP Ltd and get discount on their insurance and referees fees via the BSP Ltd. So where’s the interference? Jason Pipe is a volunteer, nothing more nothing less.
  24. Because they signed a TV contract to provide ‘ Premiership ‘ league racing and if they don’t provide it they have no cash and could be sued for breach of contract.
