  1. Think you need to read up a bit more. The NDL is a division ( the lowest ) of a league, and he certainly is not top of that never mind the sport.
  2. It’s the PREMIERSHIP that is not working the way it should be. The problem starts at the top and works its way down. As it’s mostly championship riders ( on bigger wages ) it is not what it claims to be. It either should be done away with or revamped to be just that, a ‘ Premiership ‘ without championship riders and ‘ rising stars’ .
  3. If he’s only at the top of the NDL he isn’t at the top of the sport, is he !
  4. This has been discussed to death in other threads, move on.
  5. Some fantastic predictions here, particularly as 3 or 4 clubs have yet to actually sign a full team. Can some one predict the lottery numbers please?
  6. Answers. 1. No. 2. Only ever been 1 meeting per season in the past which included riders from all divisions
  7. So instead of looking for an elusive top second string, sign two weak ones instead. Great advice! All those options are already signed up or not riding and Tom Perry has never got beyond a 3 pointer in years.
  8. Can you tell me one rider from any team named so far that hasn't had any form of ‘ competitive racing ‘ under his belt ?
  9. Teams don’t ride on paper, and we have all seen times when a side was written off before the start and it did quite well, Newcastle being one of them !
  10. A total non-starter. What riders would have made up those ‘ ghost ‘ teams ? The same southern based riders every other week ? And just who would IOW track ? No, not a good idea.
  11. Love him or loath him, He is a ‘ volunteer ‘ and as such tries his best no doubt but shouldn’t a so called professional sport be run by professionals ?
  12. Dugard is a surprise , the lad appears to have a little bit of talent but it also appears his commitment has been lacking in the past. He’s also working as Barkers mechanic ? Well I hope that works out for him ! On paper it’s not a bad side. Clegg should be unbeatable around our track, I expect Josh and Archie also to be good at home and give support to Terry-Daley, if Dugard settles in quickly ( he hasn't got much option) then we’ll be fine at home, which is where it counts.
  13. Slightly disappointed they’ve let young Rathbone go compared to who they’ve kept, he looked a prospect with his very limited motorcycle experience and has very good equipment. Interesting the Colts are sticking to Friday nights , the busiest night in the championship. Stand by for missing visiting number 1’s unless they can juggle the fixtures to avoid it
  14. Wallinger would be good value on his low average but I don’t think he’ll ride. By the looks of the latest IOW press release they are extremely bitter with the BSPA and Mildenhall but If IOW wanted to run in a more ‘ professional ‘ division they should have considered moving up. It is a shame they’re not running but it’s they’re decision.
  15. I think your all jumping the gun as Wallinger isn’t planning on riding as he’s committed to Drew Kemps backup team and has not been approached by Newcastle to ride or anyone else. But if he did join us, then that’s fine by me. The lad has been Mr. Unlucky with injuries and being mucked about ( by the BSPA ) and if he had an injury free run he’d do a good job for the team as he rides the track well.
  16. Chances are at least one McGurk will be off to Belle Vue and with both Berwick and Edinburgh looking for top 5 riders to fill up their NDL sides it will be interesting to see who we pull out of the bag. Get Blair signed up before Berwick do!
  17. Halifaxtiger in response to your well written post I have just a couple of points to clarify; We don’t know officially that the points limit was imposed or discussed before hand as we were not there but it’s is the same for every club and therefore the club makes a decision to run based on that. As for knowing something you don’t know, where does it say IOW have closed for good ? it doesn’t, that’s just speculation on your part. Speedway in the UK needs to develop more young riders not just the odd one or two ‘ naturals ‘ who graduate up through the divisions through their own desire and talent. We need GP standard riders yes, but we also need the solid second strings and the guys who appear for a season or two till the ambition runs out. This has to be done in a structured way with a clear path , introducing riders from amateurs into the NDL , letting them develop without the promise of easy money and then moving up the standards. If you speak to the more honest riders who have spent several seasons in the NDL as heat leaders and they tell you the points money some NDL clubs were willing to pay them , then you will understand my term ‘ easy money ‘ and why those riders hung around in a league they were not developing in, if anything they were stagnating. I know riders in the NDL who were earning more for a race win than some people get paid a week ! I accept that wasn’t the case at every club, Buxton were the one and only club who ran as it should be and look what the rest of the league did to them by paying such wages. The loss ( temporary or otherwise ) of the IOW is extremely disappointing , a very well run club, but the sport needs overhauling and if this is the start , however unpopular it is, then so be it. We will never all agree on everything , that’s human nature.
  18. You really should start your own Facebook page and put all your conspiracy theories together and start a revolution. The sport certainly needs one. I told you ages ago , before it went public, what was happening and you didn’t believe me, now it’s all out there you have decided to make it something it isn’t. What benefit is there to the two higher divisions of weakening the DEVELOPMENT division , and that word is important, other than making it actually DEVELOP some new talent ? Theres been riders in that division who have made it their comfort zone for easy money for too long, now they can’t, I think that is for the good of the SPORT not just the higher divisions. IOW have decided not to run for the short season which is 2021, that’s their choice. They havent closed, they haven’t been bulldozed, they are still there and can come back when they chose. As for 5 years time, we don’t even know there if there will be ANY speedway by then the way it’s going but let’s give it chance.
  19. The financial situation and team building is the very same faced by every other club in all three divisions.
  20. Yes it has, Berwick and Newcastle. The makeup of the division has been announced with just Belle Vue to confirm. There will be no Bradford or any other club.
  21. Don’t feel for anybody , it’s their choice and they have jumped at it. And as I have competed in 7 different forms of motorsport, on two wheels and four....your wrong !
  22. God your such a doom monger. It was YOU who brought up locality As motorsports go speedway is cheap !
  23. What’s not to enjoy? The only league to allow proper youth race on 125 machines and now to include 250’s. As for riders locality doesn’t that actually make sense at this level ? Keeps costs down and local interest up !
  24. ‘ Rubbish product ‘ ? Wow, you are a bitter sole. Youth racing up north via the NJL has been strong for years and judging by the crowds who stay back to watch then they are very happy with it. The BSPL dont pick the teams, the club does and the club is obviously happy to enter under the new rules so I guess we won’t be seeing your unhappy face at Berwick Bullets matches any time soon?
