  1. Because Poole's track is as bad as it gets, why else would I mention it? If it was free , then thank you Redcar.
  2. Don't blame Redcar, the BSPA assigned them the meeting. As for the SoN clash, don't care , I'd rather attend a league meeting any day.
  3. You can make Poole's track look smooth in a photograph. We all know it isn't! Jonathan will do a tremendous job and nice that that lot down the road have let us use ( hire?) their blade but the proof will be when the bikes get on it, then it might just need a teak here and there.
  4. Be surprised if there's any as they would have to pay the oppositions wages/ travel as well.
  5. I've notified the NJL co-ordinator of your question. He'll dig out the information when he can.
  6. Flint go through the card at Newcastle? I doubt it judging by previous outings around our patch. Clegg SHOULD be unbeaten but he is only human. Halder and McDonald a surprise. Still young I suppose but McDonalds been around a few years and not got above a three average in the NL and that leaves a weak reserve pairing. They haven't got many matches to tune into any home advantage but looking forward to see how this team fares.
  7. Judging by his Berwick antics he still doesn't know the rules and fell out with more than one rider there and down the road at Redcar but he will be good for your bar profits.
  8. Interesting appointment. Havvy left the Bandits under a cloud with questions being asked about his knowledge of the rule book , amongst other things. He wasn't seen much at Redcar last season with rumours of a fall out, but time will tell if this is a master stroke or just a box ticking exercise. Let's hope it's the Havvy of old and we see that smile back again. Can't wait to hear his interview at Newcastle!
  9. Great idea, will give the likes of Embleton, Alcock, Freeman , Smith and Phillips some cmpetative rides , put in Clegg as the number one and possibly throw in Wallinger and it's a decent looking side if a little inexperienced, but then that's what it's for, to give experience.
  10. That's twenty of us not going to the fours then as we booked our flights for Cardiff GP months ago together with accomodation and mini bus hire. Thanks BSPA.
  11. Would have thought Leon Flint and Danny Phillips nailed on for this team as they will need a couple of heat leader standard riders. Wallinger would do a job but he's no youngster Plenty of northern based novices to fill the rest of the team with although they have some serious travelling to do for the away matches .They won't have much home advantage either with just half a dozen home matches and most of them not having the benefit of regular second half rides around the place. Can see Flint, Phillips, Wallinger, Embleton, L.Millar, G Rothery, R.McDonald.....G.Millar not quite ready yet but there's a few others who might get in there depending on how strong a team they want to put out.
  12. And they have had the Tyne- Tees trophy for the last few years , they also won track of the year in 17 and 18 ( how the hell did Scunthorpe get awarded it last season?) but who's counting? At least we are running !
  13. Dave can ham it up as much as he likes but this is not a strong team, but at least it's a team. Seem to recall many of our lot having digs at that lot down the road when they constantly finished bottom under grumpy old Havelock , well it seems we are going the same way. Using the excuse that ' at least we have a team ' doesn't bring new people in, just more of the same from last year, poor team, poor crowd. Yes, it might improve if the two new lads turn out to be world beaters when they've had a few home meetings ( I hope!) but early doors we will struggle and away from home we will be even worse. A weak team is better than no team.
  14. Think we did that when we signed James Wright.
  15. Having listened to most of you moaning on the terraces last season , those that still attended each week, you now all want to back the new promotion, which is great but I have an opinion and I've said it. The crowd will be good at the first few matches and, if we sign two good riders more, then I hope it stays that way. All I'm saying is I think we need the final two signings to be strong ones, but you can all have a go at me for having that opinion. Having attended since the Olsen days I think I've given the club plenty of support over the years , thank you.
  16. This forum is about opinions, you have yours Dave, I've said mine. I've ' supported ' a number of new promotions over the years and not decryed anything but my pension will be spent wisely. I'll be there at the start as I may get a surprise, let's hope so .
  17. Underwhelmed. Mountain is a good signing, Vissing not a number one, too inconsistent. Wright! Now that is a gamble. Don't think he'll be reduced to a 2 pointer , possible reduced to 3:5?, so an even bigger gamble. Hope the next two are good heat leaders or I might not bother renewing my season ticket and just pick n choose my matches.
  18. Perhaps you might take the time to read up before making such comments. Wright had a team in Poland, scored well for them, but they didn't pay him so he stopped going. ( like many Premiership riders) He's still owed thousands so once bitten twice shy!
  19. Wow! Where do you play golf or watch football? I pay £15 a round of golf and £18 to watch national league standard football ( yes, in the seats). Speedway is not ' dirt cheap ' for 15 minutes of racing but, depending on which track you watch at, it can still be value for money.
  20. Wright. Hes still improving and great to watch, Belle Vue would suit his style.
  21. So now the club belongs to Mr. Grant and good on him for putting his cash into our non sensical sport. From the press release I'm to take it he has bought out not only Martin Phillips but also George as well? There appears to have been very few messages of thanks to Martin who came in when it needed help and has always appeared to try his hardest to move the club forward. I know he didn't always see eye to eye with George but some acknowledgement of his efforts would have been in order, both for him and his wife , Tina, who grafted non stop on race days in the cafe and the shop. I wish them well and thank them for keeping the club going under very difficult times.
  22. What? Kelly was riding his 500 around MPA when he was 14 having stopped riding a 125 to concentrate on the 500. He's done most practice sessions at Redcar on it and is very comfortable on his 500 around there. Yes, he still has a lot to learn but to say he doesn't know the place is simply wrong!
  23. So you think a 15 year old in his first season in racing who scores double figures in his last meeting , won races at most tracks he visited for the first time and averaged nearly five this year will not get a team place in the NL next season? why is that then? Whilst I will probably be wrong in assuming he may be considered for a Bears spot I will put my season ticket money on Kelly being in the NL next season and having a choice of clubs to pick from.
  24. The club has openly said it needs ' investment ' so that means their skint so good luck affording Andersen and Covetti. The landlords have never been keen on reducing the rent so can't see that happening. Hearing a small consortium has come forward with a finance package so let's hope that , at least, is enough to keep the club going and we can put a team out at all next year.
  25. Phillips and Bukhave have failed to impress at this level possibly for different reasons. Phillips has been given extended runs and can score a few points around Newcastle , when against poor / inexperienced opposition and has even scored decent points around Redcar where has has done more laps than most Bears riders but does he deserve another chance? Bukhave failed to impress when with the Bears but was saddled with a high average and not able to have a run at reserve which may have helped him. Having said that he didn't pull up any trees at Newcastle and his equipment does not look to be upto a high standard. He still has a high assessed 4 average which may mean he can't fit into a reserve slot which will go against him if the club go top heavy again. Assets mean nothing these days. Perhaps the club may look at local lad Elliot Kelly as a 2 pointer with a more experienced number six, Bickley? All just opinion of course and both Phillips and Bukhave may return to Newcastle as the rumours are they have been saved by a consortium of investors. Money maybe tight so they would fit in a ' cheap ' side ?
