  1. Surely anybody with a medical condition meaning they can’t wear a mask should not be attending a public gathering?
  2. It’s not innovative if it’s been done before, it’s copying. And out of those 8 ( 5 ) some will move up to 500 next year ( 4 already practice on 500’s , 2 more are buying a 500 ) . I’m also well informed of the junior scene thank you as I sponsor a junior. If I didn’t love the sport I wouldn’t do that but I’m also a realist , the sport has issues which need addressing. The sooner an independent body runs the sport the better.
  3. No doom there, just putting misconceptions right. 250’s and even 125 ‘S in a team is not new. Godfrey wouldn’t run this meeting without making money. There aren’t enough 250 riders in this country to fill NDL teams. Lost count of the people on here screaming it’s a £10 sport. Wheres the DOOM?
  4. Why not Jorgensen ? Lovely lad , been around a while has good equipment and can certainly ride a bike ( but perhaps not around Newcastle !) Not sure what you mean by no action as we are blessed with having the N.J.L. and more tracks that run practices/ amateur meetings in the north than down south.
  5. Hardly an ‘ innovative ‘ idea, it’s been used all over the continent with Leon Flint riding his 250 in the French league previously. What happened to all you moaners saying speedway was a £10 sport ? Now you are all jumping with joy to pay £15 to watch junior speedway! Good luck to the kids but the only reason this meeting is taking place is to put money in someone’s bank account otherwise why not run it without a crowd? As for including 250 riders in the NDL , how many do you think there are ?
  6. You obviously don’t keep up with speedway GB press releases, speedway star or anything else speedway related . There isn’t any ‘league‘, we all know that , but the idea was to have meetings up to NL standard on an AMATEUR basis to help the kids , not help a couple of mates, one of which was an Elite league regular. Talking to some of the riders at the weekend even they say it’s a farce and doesn’t do the sport any credit at all.
  7. When this league idea was first mentioned by Godfrey it was “ for the kids UP TO NL standard “ , Please tell me where those two fit into any of that?
  8. If today’s rumours are true he’ll lign up with Wayne Carter and Simon Lambert. That’s some youth team!
  9. You obviously didn’t understand the question or you may not have given such an idiotic response. Try reading it again.
  10. I’m thinking the British contingent that have driven out there to ride , Palin, Flint, Kemp and Edwards, will now all have to quarantine upon their return as their last country driven through will be ‘ on the list ‘ of quarantine countries. Not only the riders but their entourage as well ( family and mechanics ) That means no youth round at Leicester for Palin. wonder if this was discussed by the S.C.B. when they were asked to go? Will they get any financial support from the SCB ?
  11. Will he not learn from ex Bear Jorgensen and current Bears Palm Toft and Erik Riss? or is this just an excuse to mention the Diamonds? Whatever, it’s just a shame to see another north east lad not sign for his local club but I think the connection with a certain Mr.Pipe has soured the relationship and as Pipe is claiming it’s all his mentoring that’s getting young Kelly on an upwards spiral this will never change.
  12. Good to see they have ‘ segregated ‘ some of the classes as it was dangerous with some right wobblers in this last year. 500 class looks competitive but the couple of newbies in there will struggle against National League heat leaders, perhaps they should have had a support class there as well ?
  13. He made friends and enemies on both sides of the fence. He’s ‘ old school ‘ and hardly going to look at things with a fresh , new attitude.
  14. Give the lad a break. Like a lot of riders he has found himself a job and a regular wage, his employer would not be happy if he decided to disappear on a new job to a loss making adventure abroad with all the issues that would involve ( isolation ?).
  15. You think ‘ bread and butter ‘ riders are picking up a grand a night ? you must be looking at Glasgow’s wage bill.
  16. Certainly didn’t help when God Free said he didn’t want certain southern clubs in it as he didn’t want his team travelling too far.
  17. Never had to pay to watch the youth rounds at Redcar over the last few years when they were held on a Saturday as a full meeting.
  18. I’m talking National League number 1 so it’s not amateurs if riders have been asked to ride then it must be happening ?
  19. Lots of talk around those tracks holding ‘ practice ‘ sessions ( Kings Lynn, Scunthorpe, Somerset, Redcar, ) that there’s to be a mini league of a National League standard riders starting imminently. I saw Godfrey say he was looking at staging something of “ upto National League standard riders “ but nothing has come out publicly. A lot of NL riders have been approached to ride in it so it isn’t an ‘ amateur ‘ league . The riders I know of are well established so don't fit into Godfrey’s categorisation . I only know of northern based riders being approached as that’s my locality but understand there’s a bit of squabbling going on about which clubs are taking part. Any of you southern based know anything ? Is this intended to get some form of restricted crowds in by claiming its ‘ grass roots ‘ ? judging by Scunthorpe’s last amateur meeting ( 60 plus riders ) there’s plenty of interest from riders of the lower standards although the ‘ social distance ‘ guidelines seem to have been forgotten about so not sure that a crowd of any sort can be ‘ controlled ‘ . Having attended three of those four tracks there’s a lot of different applications on how this is to be achieved in the pit areas so it seems these clubs are not following any standard blueprint. Perhaps the forthcoming Youth Championship Round is to be a test case with a crowd being allowed in?
  20. A farce, And this is the bloke who runs the sport !
  21. So now you water down the product to include National League standard riders to make your 64 up and expect the likes of Richard Lawson, Danny King and Charles Wright to race against NL reserves and call it a competitive championship? Mr. Wright is unlikely to pack his full time job in on the building site to compete in 2 or 3 meetings to ride in that sort of meeting for the going rate (peanuts.) which tracks do you see cueing up to stage these ‘ competitive’ ( loss making ) meetings ?
  22. I almost stopped reading this when you mentioned £100 a point, you obviously haven’t seen standard BSPA rates for individual meetings. It goes on positions and not points and the winner of a meeting will be lucky to get £1200. Individual meetings lose the promoters money, always have , spectators prefer league racing and your not going to get 1,000 crowd at any championship track and even less so in October. The better riders are not coming out of enforced lockdown to ride in a couple of meetings at best.
  23. Name 64 British riders of championship standard and above?
