  1. Any news on the guest for Palm Toft yet or are you still working on it , can you give us any clues as to who is available for the 3 meetings this weekend
  2. I do apologise, obviously the fact you are older and been a mechanic means your opinion supercedes my opinion , that's what this forum is about debates and opinions and the fact your older doesn't mean my opinions aren't valid , I actually explained what I based my opinion on , I didn't just dismiss your opinion but let's be honest it's very easy of someone to dismiss an opinion especially when you can't put up a valid reason to disagree , like you said you don't get to many meetings so obviously can't base your dismissal on the Bears chances of getting through to the final on many if any of the meetings you attended , so your right don't bother replying to any of my posts and yes I know a fair bit about Speedway so can make a valid point on the Bears , thank you
  3. Tim and Tom Swales, Frank Auffret, Mark Lemon , Eric Boocock who rode well before I was going
  4. I agree about the applauding both sets of riders as long as it's the Bears that win the cup
  5. Mark Fiora, Geoff Pusey, Brian Havelock and we had some poor riders as well Bernie the bolt Collier who to me seemed like a giraffe trying to ride a bike haha he was a trier though I'll give him that
  6. Wishful thinking ? I think it's the fact I've followed speedway for many years and actually know what I'm talking about , gives me a good basis to form an unbiased a reasonable opinion, Leicester supporters will be very worried about the second leg as they are well aware of the fact we have riders in our side who go well round their track , add to that home track advantage won't be so big for them considering the bad weather we've had lately meaning the track will be riding differently to how they've been used to , add to that they beat us by 8 points in the league after 12 heats when our guest got injured and we were using r/r for Bacon , we are a lot stronger now , so no wishful thinking my opinion is based on a lot ofor speedway knowledge and it will be tight but points in the bag puts all the pressure on Leicester
  7. There was a good few riders like that , the obvious one who rode for Middlesbrough was Mad Dog Dicko (Martin Dixon ) not the most gifted rider but always gave a 100% and when he lost a race always wanted a few words with the rider who beat him , always remember him having a few spats with the great Joe Owen who used to beat him 19 races out of 20 ,
  8. Try being a bit more positive, try being a glass half full instead of a glass half empty person
  9. I'm very confident so hopefully you are wrong , Wrighty and Riss have bothe ridden for the Lions and Allen was their a few weeks back and won 3 races , so I'm confident
  10. Or as the opposition knew him Millen the villian, yeah hard rider and do you know I looked him up earlier and never knew he died in 1978 , car accident but he had fuel in the car that caught fire , aye the good old days , remember seeing him ride and everyone booing him at Cleveland park
  11. No right or wrong suggestion all speedway fans have their favorites from all eras , I like Barker myself as he is a 100 percenter , it doesn't have to be the best or a world title winner it's who we all enjoy watching or gets the adrenaline pumping , love Woofy myself considering what he's dealt with in his life also a great loss to speedway Darcy Ward was a great rider and future world champion
  12. As long as you know who I'm talking about it wouldn't worry about it
  13. My all time favorite rider was the brilliant Kelly Moran of the USA, he was just magic on a speedway bike so smooth it was effortless, I would have picked K Carter but didn't for obvious reasons , my favorite Tiger or Bear is and I'm going to pick 2 because I can't split them Bruce Forrester is first just always remember thexactly red and white scarf tied round his neck and he was our no1 when I first started going , and then Mark Courtney just super smooth on the bike and made it look so easy, was going to pick Berie Collier or Budgie but didn't for obvious reasons
  14. I think it's the away form that's Newcastles problem but at home they seem to do OK ran Glasgow and Somerset very close , so hopefullya 12 point lead at least gives us a big advantage away , agree 3 meetings back to back isn't ideal but Leicester and Newcastle isn't to much of a trek
  15. I think he or she is referring to the Eastbourne away meeting when Glasgow weren't pleased with the track , could be wrong though
  16. Why not certain riders have likings for certain tracks , I fancy us strongly to get through as long as Greaves has a decent meeting , like I say time will tell , if we don't get through I'll be on here to say I was wrong,
  17. Riss and Wright are former Leicester riders and Jake Allen won 3 races last time he raced there , I think we are well in the tie and if Greavesy hits a bit of form I think we go through to the final , time will tell , apart from Leicester getting battered at Eastbourne they lost by 10 at Berwick that's the biggest defeat they've had so 8 points for me is better than I expected
  18. Disappointed beating the team that finished 14 points above us in the league by 8 points , my your hard to please then
  19. I started the post about covers so you were replying to me ,
  20. Like Jake Allen he always gives 100% , feel quietly confident for the return leg now , is he guesting against Newcastle as well
  21. It was just a suggestion, obviously speedway fans still think it's to difficult to stick a few covers over a track to keep it getting soaked , but it's okay that discussion was yesterday I'd rather concentrate on the result and I think any Bears fan would have taken being 8 up for the 2nd leg , and in Wrighty and Riss we've got 2 riders who go well round their track and a decent guest with Greaves chipping in a few I think we are slight favourites to go through
  22. No disrespect to the diamonds but I think a home win by 12 or more gives Newcastle to much to do in the home leg , hopefully we get 16+ lead to make it a bit easier on us in the 2nd leg , only worry is the meeting at Leicester in between the 2 legs
  23. Looking at the result at Leicester earlier in the season when we lost by 8 points after 12 heats I think we have a good chance of winning the tie on aggregate, we are a lot stronger than we were in that match , we had r/r and Nicol was withdrawn after a crash in his first race add to that we have Riss who looks on form and we get a good replacement for MPT I'm happy with the 8 point lead , all it takes is for one of their top 3 to have an average meeting and Grieves to hit a bit of form then I think we are right in it and personaly I think we are favourites to go through , C O T B
