He's been on Facebook again taking the wee wee out of Lenny the Lion

Get him sacked immediately! Leicester don't need riders with a Facebook account, a sense of humour, and who might want to go and meet with fans in the bar after meetings! (P.s. Assuming this is the same Danny Woodward who rode MDSL for Carmarthen at Stoke, he usually drives his own van to meetings, and would therefore probably be on the orange juice in the bar. He's never struck me as someone who "is more interested in drinking (orange juice) in the bar then racing for the club".

You've done it wrong. Andersen, Harris & BWD are all at Peterborough. You've missed Belle Vue & Ipswich.

This Newcastle late bid seems very strange and should be turned down. If they wanted to join the NDL why weren't they at the AGM? To allow someone to join at this stage after the AGM is done and dusted, and teams have been built, would be crazy. It sets a dangerous precedent for future years. Also. The Trophy is for standalone clubs only (remember Belle Vue, Leicester, Armadale and Kent weren't allowed to enter the trophy). If Newcastle wanted to join anything, it should be the NDL (and should have been done at the AGM). Finally if Newcastle were allowed into the trophy (and they shouldn't be), surely they would have to sign 7 riders from the large number of riders who have been frozen out of the NDL by the low points limit and reduced number of teams. To allow them to take riders at a whim from Belle Vue, Kent, Leicester or Armadale would be ludicrous, especially since those teams were blocked from entering the Trophy.

Yes it has been weakened again. The riders who made up last years teams started on a 36.00 average and finished on 42.00 (approx). These 42.00 worth of riders are then weakened by a further 7% down to 39 points for this year. It 's very simple to understand.

You're basing this comment on what? It seems to be a perfectly sensible mechanism by which members of the BSPA can do business with each other, and obviously no one has had a problem with it in many decades of operation.
-
I always find comments like this particularly stupid. Of course the paying customer in a sport has a right to know the rules by which the team he supports are competing. And indeed the Speedway regulations are in the public domain, as are all the averages, and the competition rules. It was even a fair question to ask what the mechanism for loan fees was. If teams could negotiate their own loan fee levels it could lead to an unfair competitive advantage. And this question was answered. There was a set loan fee scale which makes things fair. But to demand the intimate costings of a private limited company is just ridiculous. No business operates like that. When you bought your Christmas turkey at Tesco, they will have told you the price they wanted for it. They'd have told you it's weight and any information you needed to know to be able to gauge what you were getting for your money. But you really expect Tesco to tell you how much they paid for the turkey, or how much their rent and utilities bills are? That's just ridiculous.

Surely one below the Kent Kings is the Kent Queens.

No. It's been massively weakened again. Regardless of rider ability, there are always 6 points available in a race, and 90 points available in a match. Therefore at the end of season a league will always tend towards a 42 points average. Setting a points limit below 42 for the following year will weaken a league. (The only exception being where the number of teams in the league is increasing the following year, and the limit has to be dropped to facilitate staffing new teams - This still actually weakens the league, but keeps the standard even). Don't understand your point here. All the new eligible riders last year (Thompson, Thompson, Palin, McGurk, Ablitt, Wirtzfeld, Mulford, Kelly, Gilkes) got team places last year. All the new eligible riders this year (Hagon) will get places this year. The only difference is that there were a lot of new riders becoming eligible for NL last year. There are hardly any new riders eligible this year. Set the newcomers average at 2.00, 3.00 or whatever you want, you still can make them appear from thin air.
-
That's nonsense. Last year there was a 2.00 rule, but the points limit was slashed right down to 36.00 This year the minimum is 3.00 as normal, and another weakening of the league has seen the points limit slashed down to 39.00 (last year's 36.00 with a 2.00 rule, was the equivalent of 38.00 with the 3.00 rule - So very similar). The actual reason there was a glut of newcomers last year is purely due to timing. You need to follow the Youth Series. You'd then see that last year we had theThompson twins, Palin, McGurk, Ablitt, Mulford, Kelly etc all turning 15 (plus Gilkes who delayed his start until he was 16). This year there is a lack of youngsters turning 15. Probably Sam Hagon is the only one who is ready. Even if you made the 2020 points limit 37.00 with a 2.00 limit (the same as 39.00 with a 3.00 limit) you couldn't make 15-year-olds magically appear. They're just not there this year.

Yes. All last year's teams except Cradley and Stoke , plus one new team.

DC2 is correct. He's pointed you to the Green Sheet Averages via a link. It can clearly be seen by following the link that Adam Ellis's final GSA was 8.00 For some reason best known to yourself you seem to be reading the page that says (In massive red writing) PLEASE NOTE: THESE ARE NOT THE OFFICIAL GREEN SHEET AVERAGES. THE OFFICIAL AVERAGES CAN BE FOUND VIA THE TEAM DECLARATIONS AND GREEN SHEET AVERAGES LINKS FOR THE RESPECTIVE LEAGUES. THESE FIGURES SHOULD BE REGARDED AS REFERENCE ONLY. -

Who's the No.7 then? -
It was Martin Lampkin and his brother Arthur. Think there was another brother too, but I don't remember any Dave Lampkin. Of course Martin's son Dougie Lampkin later went on to become more famous than all of them.

Thought you weren't allowed to ride in the PL now until you'd achieved a CL average which converts to a PL 3.00 or more? -

Not read a word of my posting above have you? There is NO profit and loss account filed at Companies House. As a micro company they don't have to file one, and they haven't. All that is filed is an abbreviated balance sheet which gives minimal information, and certainly doesn't show profit or loss. -

a) It's called a "website". b) There's nothing filed at Companies House to show what profit or loss they have made. (and certainly not your made up half a million loss). As a small company (micro-entity), they are only obliged to file micro company accounts. This means no profit and loss account has to be filed, no statement of source and application of funds has to be filed, and only the briefest of 3 line abbreviated balance sheets has to be filed. And indeed, this brief balance sheet is all they have filed. There's no P&L account to look at. All you can do with the modified balance sheet info is take one figure away from the other to show a difference of approx £152k. If nothing else has changed during the year you could assume they had made a loss of £152k. But you haven't got any information on anything else, so making that assumption would be silly. For all you know they could have lost £10,152,000 but pumped 10 million into the company. Equally they could have made £9,848,000 profit, but taken £10M out in dividends.... they could have taken out mortgages, paid off mortgages, bought a share of the stadium, bought riders, sold riders, made clever accounting adjustments for tax reasons.... a million possibilities. You're unlikely to see any speedway club ever reach the level of turnover needed for them to be compelled to file a Profit & Loss account. Until then, keep guessing and making crap up. -

He lives in St. Helens, near Manchester. -
Why? What have you heard? These guys have spent a lot of money on doing up the car park, they're running speedway open practice sessions, and I'd heard that they'd be quite amenable to the idea of bringing speedway back. Are you saying they're not interested in speedway? They're hardly likely to want to sell so soon, especially after investing in improvements to the car park.

Unless things have changed, day one is usually attended by 2019 teams and involves going over the 2019 season, clearing up any matters outstanding and agreeing the share-out of any shared events. Poole would attend as a PL team and Kent and Plymouth would not be included. Day two (today) would normally involve business for 2020 and voting in any new teams.
