  1. I'd agree. Certainly a better business brain than messers Chapman and Godfrey. Came into Belle Vue at a very precarious time and has stabilised it, and made the club look more professional. He claimed to know nothing about the sport when he first came in, but he's respected the history and traditions of Belle Vue. Even staged meetings behind closed doors in 2020 to keep the unbroken record going. He hasn't changed the club colours and rebranded it The Manchester Machine. Sponsorship has grown steadily and they seem to run to a sustainable budget, despite running 2 teams. There hasn't been any question of running or not running the following year. I also like that he walks round the stadium during meetings talking with and listening to fans.
  2. Can't imagine them naming any signings before the meeting at the stadium next Monday. Might name all 14 riders then. They did that a couple of years back.
  3. Just to check we're on the right group, is it the one where the only interaction is someone posting this photo and asking if anyone can name the people in the picture?
  4. I don't do the Facebook. Could you briefly summarise the apparently "interesting" points raised by these 9 mass debaters?
  5. Pickering 7.38 Lawson 7.21 Cook 7.05 Jorgensen 6.46 Worrall 5.37 Kerr 5.28 Kinsley 38.75
  6. There's one sad person clearly with a vendetta, and the regular geriatric troll was on here the other day, but seems to have been deleted. Other than that it all seems pretty supportive. The vast majority of us would love to see Rye House re-opened a.s.a.p. and back into British Speedway 2023.
  7. They have one woman at Belle Vue who constantly complains about the noise.... even through the close season.
  8. He scored quite well in those last few matches, so his average will be over 6
  9. i'd agree, Kent Kings/Royals belong at Central Park. Sittingbourne Crusaders sounds ideal for a team out of Iwade.
  10. What he said! Ignore the keyboard clowns and the idiots trying to disrupt what you're doing. Don't even bother to argue or engage with them. Just keep up the good work. Keep us genuine speedway fans informed of any developments. Let us know if any support is needed with letters or petitions. Good luck with everything you're trying to do. I'd love to visit Rye House again.
  11. The happenings of now are on this page of the thread. The happenings of January 2020 are on page 1 of this thread. You can follow the entire thing through in chronological order from page 1 to the present. It's not a difficult concept.....well not for most.
  12. Because the thread is from 23 January 2020 maybe? So what if it takes 2 years or 3 years to reopen Rye House, as long as someone is trying to reopen Rye House.
  13. I was told that Sittingbourne FC used to play at Central Park, but because the pitch was always unavailable due to greyhounds, they switched to the training pitch at the side, which was done up and named "Bourne Park". (I assumed from the conversation that they still played there, but seemingly not). Anyway the story I was given was that ARC want football back. (I expressed surprise thinking that a full-size football pitch wouldn't fit inside the greyhounds, which was when I got the backstory about them playing there in the past before moving next door.
  14. I was told by someone close to the Kent Speedway promotion that ARC actually want to put a football pitch back inside the greyhound stadium, and then move the football team back out from playing their games on the training pitch next door, and back into the main stadium. There's just no room for a speedway track in their plans. Hence the "F Off" rent increase etc.
  15. So who else is involved in the Birmingham Speedway 2022 consortium? Were they at the meeting? Gary Drinkwater I believe is an ex-Coventry sponsor via his City Gearboxes company. David Rowe I presume is the journalist. I'm not familiar with Tracey Smith?
  16. Doubt it will be. He scored quite heavily in the last few matches.
  17. Poolstock Stadium, Wigan. 1947 and 1960 https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16&lat=53.53850&lon=-2.64031&layers=193&b=1 Woodhouse Lane, Wigan 1952-53 https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=17&lat=53.55568&lon=-2.65597&layers=10&b=1
  18. As well as their Rising Star Brennan? I'd expect Flint to be back at Wolves, and Palin back at Boro. Kemp back at Ippo. KL must have someone new lined up as they have released Mountain, who has gone to Sheffield.

  21. Been scrapped in Championship. Premiership are keeping it.
  22. The speedway shut in the early/mid 60s and the greyhounds shut down in 1969 after problems over the lease with British Rail, who owned the site. There were plans to use the site as part of a redevelopment of the Millwall FC Stadium next door, but they came to nothing, and the derelict New Cross was just demolished.
