  1. Luke Crang had 3 years with the Coventry NDL, so can claim to have been a Coventry rider. But Joe Thompson wasn't a Coventry asset or rider. Coventry's last season was 2016. The licence was frozen in Feb 2017 (although the NDL team at Leicester in 2018 used the Coventry name). However Joe Thompson didn't turn 16 until April 2020, long after Coventry' demise.
  2. I was expecting a close Plymouth win in the battle between 2 teams with a very strong top end. The difference was, from the strong Plymouth top 3, only Gilkes fired. Whereas the powerhouse Kent top 2 were totally on it, and got amazing support from Alcock. I doubt Atkins and Andrews will be that poor again, and not sure Alcock can keep up that brilliant performance on a regular basis.
  3. And Belle Vue had completed and submitted their team until blocked by the BSPL. Like Mildenhall and Plymouth, they've had to go back and make a change. Belle Vue have completed their 1-7 in time to start the season. Let's hope Mildenhall and Plymouth can do so too. So far only Birmingham have failed to have a 1-7 for their first match, but hopefully they will be complete for their second match. P.S. Tell us about Armadale?
  4. Apart from Plymouth, Mildenhall and Armadale....
  5. You seem to have made a typo and put 2.00 against Hodder instead of 3.00. Therefore your adding up is wrong and the team is over the limit.
  6. Usually 20 heats. Top 3 to the final. Next 5 to the semi-final. Then top 3 from the 5-man semi-final go to the 6-man final.
  7. Now if the scratchcard stickers are "scratch 'n' sniff" then I'm in.
  8. Also there was the foreign rider (can't remember his name) who had an after-match skid at Peterborough some years ago and crashed and was injured quite badly. Unlicensed and uninsured. If I remember rightly it gave the SCB some serious sleepless nights for quite a while.
  9. In this week's Star John Campbell says he's confident this year's team "can surprise a few this year, and pick up some positive results" To make that claim he must surely know who the No.1 is, so why hasn't it been announced?
  10. I think we all did. And didn't we have a wall chart where we could fill in the world cup results and write the teams into the next round? But Spain 1982 was 40 years ago. We had 3 TV channels.... No internet..... No mobile phones.... No ipads.... No computers. Once again Speedway is trying to live 40 years in the past.
  11. Dragging the sport kicking and screaming into the 1970s
  12. You're probably best asking Mattie Bates if you want to know about his grandad.
  13. Maybe there's a virus on your computer? First you leak your private photos and mucky Cheryl thoughts on twitter.... And then an identical post has appeared on here from you 5 times in a row. (But no doubt you'll deny doing it).
  14. To be honest, I'd be disappointed. I've always preferred Nadine Coyle to Cheryl.
  15. He'll be starting one of those threads: "Does anyone remember Doris Sidebottom, the New Cross Start Tart of 1946?" Before returning an hour later to provide all the juicy details.
  16. The lady doth protest too much, methinks
  17. I bet Cheryl Cole hasn't forgotten it.
  18. This seems to be a clue to the account owner. Does anyone recognise this dodgy-looking, Cheryl-obsessed stalker? https://mobile.twitter.com/gustixspeedyguy/status/814646902256009216
  19. The problem is, neither have you.
  20. There are some details of Leicester Super on this little-known, obscure, and badly-written website https://national-speedway-museum.co.uk/leicester super.html
  21. What about Leicester Super? Wasn't that about 100 yards longer than Crewe?
  22. Was that the poster advert for Lucozade? Seen mainly pasted on bus shelters?
  23. If we're thinking of the same advert, I definitely remember a Mars advert ( I think late 70s), involving speedway. I think there was a series of adverts on the "work, rest and play" theme, showing someone doing their day job and then enjoying some kind of sport in the evening. All I can remember of the speedway one was the bloke stood on the terraces eating a Mars bar as the bikes raced into the first turn, and he says "I hope Pete wins tonight".
