Looks like, just days after saying he wasn't quitting, Atkins has quit both Plymouth teams. 28-day ban for withholding services would appear to be the next step. Got to feel sorry for Plymouth who are losing riders at a rate of knots, and to a degree feel sorry for Atkins who seems to be a decent lad, but is having his career ruined, as you say, by people close to home who are calling the shots and doing him no favours.

BERWICK v BELLE VUE (Saturday, May 7th, 7pm)
PotteringAround replied to crescent girl's topic in National League Speedway
Bog standard riding order from both teams. Pair the No.1 with the 5th average. 2nd best rider at No.5. Remaining two can go at 3&4 either way around. Used to be fashionable to put the strongest reserve at No.7, but these days teams seem to give the easier No.7 spot to the weakest rider, and swap them around during the meeting as necessary. (Also, we're assuming that is the riding order, and not just someone guessing at what the riding order will be, and listing them in the most obvious order). -
He was withholding his services, so he'll certainly be banned. Presume the ban will affect his NDL place too. Not sure whether it's a 7-day ban or 28? He put something on his Facebook to his "fans and sponsors" saying he wasn't quitting, but he didn't say anything about not turning up at Scunthorpe.

Atkins had denied rumours that he's quitting. Gilkes will be a big miss though. Sure anyone can guest for him, but finding guests willing to travel to Devon who can match his scorepower might not be easy.

Judging by the title of this thread, "Ron Johnson's Double", the 1963 rider might have just been someone who looked very like Ron Johnson.

That lasted 2 months. A leopard never changes its spots. Once a lying troll, always a lying troll.

No. Sadly it's true. Been confirmed by the BSPA who will be putting out a full tribute to Nigel shortly. -

Nigel Pearson passed away this morning. -
Sadly not. It's true. Condolences to all his family and friends. He was a true enthusiast with a wealth of knowledge, and a massive passion for the sport. A huge loss to Speedway.

That's what I said. It costs the same as the Championship. Think they're making a big mistake there. Armadale was £7.99. Berwick was £6.99 Think they've missed the price point with £11.99. Like I said you can actually go and watch Belle Vue v Plymouth in the stadium for the same money. A stream needs to be seriously cheaper.
-
They're charging £12 for NDL? The same as for the Championship stream? So it costs the same to watch this stream on your phone, as it does to actually watch Belle Vue v Plymouth in person at the stadium? Wow.

Armadale Devils v Berwick Bullets
PotteringAround replied to Al Stewart's topic in National League Speedway
You're including a Berwick heat leader in that total, against Armadale's lowest-scoring second string. -

Would you like see if Speedway in Hampshire??

Aren't they restricted to 14 motorsports events per year? -
Ben Morley 9.18 Luke Crang 6.41 Nathan Ablitt 6.29 Connor Coles 6.04 Henry Atkins 5.86 Archie Freeman 3.00 Luke Kileen 3.00

Exactly. 6 teams racing each other once is 6 x 5 / 2 = 15 heats. That would be perfectly fair, although they're bound to want to add a semi and a final Don't understand why the OP would want to add a seventh team. That would need 7 x 6 / 2 = 21 heats before the semi and final, which would be too long.

Number 8 for each team and Junior League
PotteringAround replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
No he couldn't. Teams can use either the rising star or No.8 on a match-by-match basis, but they can't swap during a match. Once the teams had chosen Connor Mountain and Tom Brennan to ride at No.7, there was no way Dan Thompson or COnnor Bailey could be involved. No. The additional rider (AR) has to have a Championship average not exceeding 3.00. Dan Thompson is too high to be the AR. Definitely dreamt it. -
Number 8 for each team and Junior League
PotteringAround replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He was. This seemed very strange as he wasn't riding in the meeting, but was walking around the pits in his kevlars. At a push I can perhaps understand Sheffield wanting him in the pits to watch and learn, but it seemed very odd that he was wearing his kevlars even though he was only there as a spectator. -
Surely Willie Lawson would be announced by now if it was him. Problem is that I can't think of any other northern-based No.1 who would fit the bill. Maybe they're hoping Lawson can fit in speedway with his road racing. If they can't get a No.1 they look to be in trouble.

Birmingham v Coventry Select
PotteringAround replied to GiveusaB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Luke Crang had 3 years with the Coventry NDL, so can claim to have been a Coventry rider. But Joe Thompson wasn't a Coventry asset or rider. Coventry's last season was 2016. The licence was frozen in Feb 2017 (although the NDL team at Leicester in 2018 used the Coventry name). However Joe Thompson didn't turn 16 until April 2020, long after Coventry' demise. -
I was expecting a close Plymouth win in the battle between 2 teams with a very strong top end. The difference was, from the strong Plymouth top 3, only Gilkes fired. Whereas the powerhouse Kent top 2 were totally on it, and got amazing support from Alcock. I doubt Atkins and Andrews will be that poor again, and not sure Alcock can keep up that brilliant performance on a regular basis.

And Belle Vue had completed and submitted their team until blocked by the BSPL. Like Mildenhall and Plymouth, they've had to go back and make a change. Belle Vue have completed their 1-7 in time to start the season. Let's hope Mildenhall and Plymouth can do so too. So far only Birmingham have failed to have a 1-7 for their first match, but hopefully they will be complete for their second match. P.S. Tell us about Armadale?

Apart from Plymouth, Mildenhall and Armadale....
