In what way is paying money to the landlords of Leicester any different than paying to the landlords of Scunthorpe or King's Lynn? (Surely they're all owned by the promoter?) Or Redcar for that matter, which would have been another good choice? At least it would have been a neutral (and better prepared) track. Bit of a joke holding it at the home of two Championship riders. And we wouldn't have had the farce of a race where 2 riders fell, 1 spun 360, and one gave up. The one who spun 360 winning, and the one who gave up then restarting when one of the other 2 fallers got back on.

Shame it's being held at Leicester. It could have been a decent meeting at a different track, but this is just a foregone conclusion.

Aggregate BP making a return from 2023?

So now we know that 75.5% of fans are as thick as the Championship Promoters. -
Aggregate BP making a return from 2023?
PotteringAround replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Typical BSP thinking. "OK lads. Shall we get out there and promote the sport to the millions who don't know it exists?" "That sounds like a lot of work boss" "Well, what about if we take the best rule change we've made in recent history and just reverse it for a laugh?" "hear, hear" -
Belle Vue v Ipswich 8 august
PotteringAround replied to Baldyman's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Both. They're more expensive because they're in the middle by the starting gate, and more expensive because they're padded and more comfy. But there's no bad seat in the grandstand, and a lot of people like to be down by the first bend/pits end. You'd have no trouble buying a ticket for the grandstand on the day, but after a certain time I don't think you can pick which seat you want. You'll just get one anywhere in the block. -
Been shockingly bad crowds and a shockingly bad track devoid of passing,... no comparison to Belle Vue last year. But proud of Dan Bewley and Robert Lambert. Terrific effort without arguably the GB No.1. World Champions last year, runners up this year. And bronze medal in the U-21. Not too shabby at all. (And of course the new world champions would be British if their grandfathers hadn't been criminals).

Not as bad for GB as people were making out. Yes the track is rubbish and there was no passing except for Woffinden's brilliant move. But after getting the set-up wrong for heat 1, Woffinden only dropped one point all night. Bewley went unbeaten by an opponent in his 3 rides. All we need to do is find out where Mrs Lambert has hidden Stead and Allen, once we free them we should be OK.

Leicester Lions 2022 Line up

He was allowed in the re-run with no immediate symptoms of concussion, but then felt sick and dizzy in the pits and so was withdrawn from the meeting with concussion. He's therefore on a mandatory 12 day suspension now. -
Some people will whinge about anything. When I was a kid I generally wouldn't know the result of an away match until I got home from school the following day and say the evening paper. The only way of getting results the same night was the sports bulletin on Radio 2 at 9.57. If they had 5 seconds left at the end of the 3-minute sport bulletin, they would say "and finally tonight's speedway results..." and then rattle through them at breakneck speed. Otherwise I would have to wait to see a friend's copy of Speedway Star at weekend to know results from other clubs. Nowadays, thanks to the internet, not only do I know the result of every meeting within minutes of it finishing, I know every rider's individual score. In fact I know the result of every individual race within about a minute of it finishing. And I can even download a copy of the referee's official scorecard the following morning! Not sure what more I could want.

Oxford Cheetah Cubs 2022
PotteringAround replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in National League Speedway
There were 7 Oxford riders all feeling happy. But Happy complained and they all started feeling grumpy. -
I presume you're referring to the cost of buying the BSN stream, which is £12.99? (You're not referring to the admission price of attending the meeting - £20 I think ) If so, I don't see a problem. It's paid by card and it's pretty common in retail to end prices in 99p to look psychologically cheaper.

Newcastle now closed !!!
PotteringAround replied to Phil83's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
7 Million pounds? That seems a bit over the top! I've heard he's also been ringing round other promoters asking if they want to buy the riding assets. Not sure who Newcastle own. Joe Alock? Lee Complin? -
Surely The Blond Bombshell was Graham Warren, and The King of Crash was Phil Bishop.

Because Belle Vue chose 2 & 4 for the semi-final, and Sheffield chose 2 & 4 for the final?

Oxford Cheetah Cubs 2022

Curious situation. Obviously Atkins' original ban for withholding his services is over, but by now accepting a guest booking as a member of the Plymouth 1--7, surely Atkins has acknowledged and accepted his place in the Plymouth 1-7. So having restarted riding, if he doesn't turn up for the next Plymouth match (having now acknowledged his place in their 1-7 and used it to take a guest booking) then he should get another ban for withholding his services again? -
