  1. So now the events are selling out, the whinging has got down to the level of moaning about the cost of a cap, some sunglasses and a blob of AmbreSolaire? There's some sad case about
  2. Ticket sales still seem to be going well, since the one-day options went on sale this morning. Glad I got mine last Friday. Obviously the main grandstand was already a complete sell out last week, but there were one-day tickets for both Friday and Saturday on the back straight standing at 10am this morning. They all appear to have gone now. The temporary East stand still has tickets, but the middle sections have pretty much all gone for Saturday.
  3. You comment is silly. The capacity is the capacity. The variable factor is the price. Since it sold out so quickly, the price seemingly could have been higher. That's how supply and demand economics works. "What you are saying is like saying, if Ferrari worked harder and made an extra 30 million cars every year, we could all buy a new Ferrari for £10,000. In reality, the supply of Ferraris is limited, and those that can afford to pay for them, get them at the market-clearing price. Re Cardiff, I think it has run its course. The novelty has worn off, and Manchester will be massively better. The big draw of Cardiff was the social side, and when it drew 40,000 the streets were swarming with people and the stadium had a great atmosphere. We used to go every year, but last year was the first time I'd been for 5 years. The atmosphere, both in the city centre and in the stadium was noticeably more subdued. Cardiff's racing is never that great, and its notorious problem of not having enough hotels is a problem when Cardiff is so out-of-the-way for many people. Belle Vue doesn't have the same problems as the racing is superb, and being more central in Britain makes it more accessible. I'm looking forward to these very special meetings on a superb track I can get to in under an hour.
  4. You don't make any sense. The grandstand sold out in less than a day. They can't bring any more people in beyond a full house. If anything, the speed of the sales says the prices were too low.
  5. on the SGPManchester.com website for the single day option available which will be available from Wednesday it already shows the Main Grandstand sold out, so the only options would appear to be south stand or east stand. (unless south stand also sells out before Wednesday)
  6. Why would they hold tickets back for Wednesday if they can sell them now? That would make no sense, and SGP isn't a charity. Where are all the people who were predicting an empty stadium? I knew they'd sell fast, and got mine early. All the grandstands seemed available at 10am, so if any are held back they can only be the back-straight I'd guess. The grandstand is now showing completely full, it's hard to tell how many back straight have sold, although I'm hearing they're almost all gone. East stand seems to be selling pretty well too. I don't expect the East stand will sell out before Wednesday, but I suspect that if people want to go for just 1 day, then the East stand will be the only option available by Wednesday. If I only wanted to go one day, I think I'd buy the 2-day package, and try to sell the other day on to another fan. Perhaps someone needs to set up an app to match people who can only go Friday, with people who can only go Saturday, get the 2-day discount and share the saving.
  7. That makes no sense. If shares in this venture are being offered publicly to members of the public, why shouldn't those members of the public discuss things on a public forum? If someone doesn't want public information available to the public, that makes me immediately wonder what it is that they want to hide?
  8. Would imagine the local Health & Safety Executive are going to be very on the ball about safety issues at Mildenhall. Another Motocross rider killed on the Mildenhall MX track next door yesterday. The second death in 6 months. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm2je8jpl55o
  9. Much as I would like to see a new track reopen, I find this idea of a loan from the SRBF to a private business, to be in very bad taste. What would the Charity Commission think of a charity gambling with injured riders' money in this way?
  10. Who even holds the promoting rights to Mildenhall? Isn't it Lee Chipchase and Greg Palmer? Because we're hearing nothing from them. The main character in all this seems to be someone with a dubious past who presumably would never get any kind of official's licence from the BSP.
  11. If you wanted to run Swindon in the NDL, and you owned a perfectly functional, equipped stadium, like the Abbey Stadium, why would you not already be running it there? Would you really invest in building a new stadium just to run at the amateur level? That's not going to give a satisfactory return on investment.
  12. You only have to read Clarke Osborne's profile on that joke of a website to know the man is a compulsive liar.
  13. You've not come across Clarke Osborne before, have you?
  14. Sounds almost as good as the Reading "Racino" and the "Greatest Speedway Stadium of the modern era at Bristol"* * copyright Clark Osborne Of course, once the Abbey Stadium is finally demolished, it will be discovered that this new site is the home of a rare species of squirrel which can't be disturbed, and sadly the new stadium can't be built..
  15. Bit strange that Armadale are so slow naming their team. All the other 5 teams are fully named, and so are the 5 Trophy teams, so there's nothing to gain by keeping things secret. All they're doing is denying their riders the chance to get out there and say "Will you sponsor me, I'll be riding for Armadale"
  16. Surely he'd prefer 'king Kenny Bjerre as the final rider?
  17. Is it? I hadn't heard anything about Mildenhall being sold.
  18. I believe there have been proposals to name the stand after Mort, but it was Mort himself, being a modest man, who refused it.
  19. Chris Morton also an MBE. Promoters Johnnie Hoskins and Ronnie Greene also honoured. Ivan Mauger is the only rider to also receive an OBE.
  20. But the press release DOES clearly say Poole were invited and they accepted. So to then back out 2 months later is poor form from Poole. “It’s good to have all the teams in the KO Cup, including Oxford this time, and we felt it would be great to have eight clubs competing with no byes, so Poole were invited in as Championship champions, and they accepted. “They will be given a concession to build to Premiership level whilst keeping the majority of their team, and should there be any rider clash, the Premiership team would take priority.”
  21. All 5 fellow NDL sides have named their full team, but still not a single rider announced for Armadale. No one in the Monarchs Championship side is available to double up with the Academy, but presumably Dayle Wood who is with nearby Berwick will want to continue at Armadale? Connor Coles has no CL place and isn't in a ND Trophy side yet. Will he want to travel to Edinburgh for just NDL? Sam McGurk was rumoured to want away from Armadale. Expected him to appear at Middlesbrough/Belle Vue/Scuntfield, but he hasn't. He's doing trophy at Birmingham, so presumably he'll want NDL at Armadale. A few NDL riders from last year not signed up in NDL, but not many northern. Best (ageing) Armadale side I can make is: Connor Coles, Dayle Wood, Sam McGurk, Luke Crang, Kean Dicken, Kyran Lyden, Mark Parker.
  22. Think the team is pretty much run by Godfrey and Simon Lambert from Scunthorpe. Sheffield don't seem to have much input other than using the track for a few of the home matches.
