Don't think they are even set in jelly nowadays. I can accept rain offs, but some of the other reasons are getting ridiculous.

For fans who want to plan dates etc, the sooner information available the better. Few years ago, fixtures issued, but some dates, including British semi, were held back. When issued, I found I had planned something else on one, of the dates. Heard the speedway was brilliant, at this match, so I missed some great speedway, and the promoters missed a bit of income. I used to buy speedway star, for the results, but gave up about 40 years ago, when I got a TV with teletext. I am not interested in speedway star, but I do like to go to matches, and I am sure promoters, both want and need all the income they can get.

I would call it working against, rather than with the paying fans.

Fixtures now out. All Tigers home matches on Thursday. I wonder if this means that some Eurosport matches will be shown Thursday,'s.

Just read the following on Stratrax (stock cars) website. Lots of work has been ongoing with a revamp of the Sheffield pits area to commence early March and we are in serious discussions about re -opening at least part of the back straight - We are developing Sheffiled in the coming years hopefully to become the jewel of the North and it has a much livelier fixture list in 2020 which will also feature Bangers & support formulae programme. Interesting bit about the back straight.

First match at Owlerton 19 March 7pm per website.

Some doubt about how many points left available. If it is 6.91. Looked up some final averages for previous seasons, for riders not rode in GB since. Possibilities would include Woryna, Kasprazak, Hougaard, Huckenbeck.
-
Just going on riders announced on Speedway GB site.
-
6.91, leaves a few possibilities; King, Wright, Riss, Tungate, Harris, Musielak, Ellis, Bewley.
-
What average does Kurtz come in at?

After the recent GB test match v Denmark, with somewhat weakened teams, I wondered about the selection of Team GB for a test match. What would your selection be for a full strength seven man team? Assume all riders available and on reasonable form. No particular track in mind, so no horses for courses, and no tactical switches such as putting best rider at number 7. I will make my selection. 1 Woffy 2 King 3 Cook 4 Wright 5 Lambert 6 Ellis 7 Bewley.

They have ridden at Owlerton on Monday's in the past.

Sheffield v. Newcastle 28.08.19
ShyTalk replied to Cue Ball's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Per tigers website story about CLRC "Despite two provisional dates being announced, Tigers remain in discussions with Newcastle regarding a new date for the outstanding Championship fixture at Owlerton. This makes me feel the date is still in some doubt. they certainly have not made it very clear -
Nicol not going to Scunny.

Did a couple of comparisons myself using Bank of England Inflation calculator. Went to some Sheffield Eagles rugby league games during their first season, 1984. Adult admission was £2.00, which wouold equate to £6.31 in today's terms. They now charge £16.00 in ticket ordered online in advance, £18.00 on the day. In 1979 did some bar work and remember beer was £0.30 a pint now the equivalent of £1.50, considerably cheaper than any pubs I know of. Seems leisure activities outpace inflation quite considerably.

Hope the changes work out. However, have replaced Proctor when he seems to be in the best form so far this season. Replaced Nicol, but from August Proctor would have been able to take one of his R/R rides so would have been stronger there. Kurtz rode well against us but his average is down on last year. Sedgeman not raced too much recently.
-
Nowadays may be more appropriate to call it doubling down.
-
Certainly would be a bit sceptical about any 5 man teams using R/R. Does anyone have the race formula they use for this in Denmark?
-
Zach W averinging over 6 this year. Think he is ready for championship
-
On the subject of value for money, it should be noted that years ago, with the old second halves, you would get mores races per meeting.

Sheffield Vs Redcar 7/7/19 Championship

Are new averages due out soon? Would be useful as Nicol may go above Kemp, enabling Proctor to have 1 R/R ride. -
EASTBOURNE V SHEFFIELD SAT 1ST ?
ShyTalk replied to gee jay's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Now six weeks after the decision made to call off this match. Think it is very poor that a re-staging date has not been announced. IMO should have been made as soon as the decision to call off was made. On numerous occasions in the past there has been a sporting event on telly when I went to a speedway match. Simple way to watch both; press the record button on DVD/Sky + and go to speedway. Speedway promoters never had a problem accepting my money when I did this. In view of the way my loyalty was re-paid I have re-evaluated my loyalty to speedway. Have cancelled all plans to go to any more away matches this season. Not too inclined to bother next year when England football could be in European cup and not prepared to have a fixture list likely to be amended by this. Eastbourne claim to have done cost analysis etc, but do only appear to have taken in to account the wishes of fans who also like football. I am sure there are many more like me who do not care about football and do not want speedway disrupted for this. How much will losing dedicated fans like myself (who has attended over 99% of home matches for over 50 years) cost the sport? If Eastbourne really wanted to lessen the impact how about, 1 Immediately announcing the re-staging date. 2 Offering any Sheffield fans who had plans to attend (and still plan to come to the re-staging) a substantial discount on admission. This could work in Eastbourne's favour (a few paying reduced admission is worth more than none turning up). 3 Offer any Sheffield fans who planned to go to this match, and are unwilling or unable to attend the re-staging a complimentary DVD of the match. -
