Didn't Bradley say he wouldn't ride for Newcastle and had a few negative words to say about the track and club in general? I am truly sorry if that wasn't Bradley, but I seem to recall this from last year when we were in desperate need of a new number 1... Either way... If Bradley and Archie do sign, it leaves about 7.97 for the final rider if the 42.00 limit is correct... 1. Bradley Wilson Dean 8.75 2. Max Clegg 5.27 3. Paul Starke 6.47 4. Matthew Wethers 6.47 5. 7.97 remaining (using unofficial averages so just an approximation) 6. James Wright 5.07 7. Archie Freeman 2.00 Who's likely to be our final signing on that average? Richie I hope... We still need a true number 1 Ryan Douglas, Kyle Howarth and Lewis Kerr are the only other decent riders available under that average, assuming we're building right up to the limit... I'd still love to see Rene Bach but he's already signed in Poland and presumably will be in Denmark too...

God I hope not... Where you hear this?

This comment is hilarious -
I'm not really sure of this situation tbh

Steve, Smetana and Ashley fit based on the 42 points limit with no RS, which is rumoured on other threads... But I can't see it
-
Is that 3 new faces or 3 old faces?

Ulrich Ostergaard 7.96 Max Clegg 5.27 Paul Starke 6.47 Matthew Wethers 6.47 Richie Worrall 7.76 James Wright 5.07 Archie Freeman 2* 39.00 +2 RS Wonder if the Rising Star rule is kept the same as this season then we could go with a team like this? A lot of strength in depth with Wrighty at reserve again... And Richie is an alright number 1, not a massive one... But I'd be reasonably happy with this... Or is Ulrich ends up at Glasgow then Lewis Kerr (7.67) at number 5 with Richie at 1 would be alright too... Don't think Lewi is a number 5 or Richie is a number 1 really, but at least we'll have that depth to go with an actual half decent 1 to 5... Really pleased with the signing of Starkey, brilliant rider and always give his all, very happy All the averages above are based on the final averages on the Speedway GB website with all British riders -2.5%... I am aware that these averages don't take into account the Eastbourne results being taken away, but it's a general idea...
-
Yes but two of James, Matty and Max are already accommodating the number 3 and 4, so we need a number 1 or 5, which Lewi just isn't I'm sorry to say Batchelor at 5 maybe with a reliable number 1

2. Liga

Kerr's alright but he's more of a number 3, we need out and out number 1 and 5... Kerr's on a bit of an inflated average too, he won't add much to it (I may regret this comment come the end of next year) But yes, he's a very good rider and always gives his all don't get me wrong

Another one bites the dust... They're building towards one league of 8-10 teams in a few years plus a very weak NDL... I can picture it now -

Steps need to be being made to move away from clashes of fixtures so guests are less of an issues. Not just say we can't have more Friday tracks because guests might not be available. I understand that injuries occur, but R/R should be used where possible. Guests should be a last resort ideally. -

Connor hopefully won't be back now, or else him or Matty will have to be the number 5 again... Archie I would like to see back at number 7, along side a solid number 6, Ashley Morris on a 4.80 average could be a bargain number 6 if the 2x RS rule gets scrapped and he can regain his form he had when he rode for the Diamonds a few years ago... Also wouldn't mind seeing James Sarjeant (4.27) or Stefan Nielsen (4.79) fill that number 6 role, But I can see both of them remaining at their currently CL clubs... I'm sure all 3 riders would be due a 2.5% reduction also as all 3 rode in the NL? So basically 6. Ashley Morris 7. Archie Freeman I suppose if the RS scheme is scrapped, then we could fit Connor at reserve, but we'd then lose a bit of the top end strength at 1 and 5... And I can see Connor at Leicester or Scunthorpe unfortunately Is Scott Nicholls going to give up his TV duties most weekends just to ride for the Diamonds? I'd love to see him too, he's one of my all time favourites, but I don't see it. I would like to see Paul Starke back in Diamonds colours again one day though... Richie would be a brilliant signing and my choice as the number 5 As far as I know with Troy, he was about to sign for us but then Kent came in at the last second and offered him a better deal. Personally I wouldn't want Troy at Newcastle... Think he could do even worse than last season if he signs for a track as difficult as Brough... He hasn't got the balls imo Based on absolutely zero insider information, so it could be miles off, I hope to see something like: 1. 2. Max Clegg 5.40 3. James Wright 5.20 4. Matthew Wethers 6.47 5. Richie Worrall 7.96 6. Ashley Morris 4.80 7. Archie Freeman 2* (2.00) Based on the current averages on the last issue on SpeedwayGB, so could be a few inaccuracies and there is no 2.5% reductions taken into account. We don't know what the average limit is yet, but I would approximate that we have somewhere in the figure of 8.00-8.50 for out number 1 with the squad above... I would like to see Matty at number 4 to keep Heat 14 strong and I think James is more than capable of being the number 3 in a stronger lineup than last year, Max at 2 is very strong and hopefully Ashley at 6 is very strong too. I would like to see some improvement from Archie next season too, should be very little pressure on him in that team... On another note, see Rene Bach has signed for Lokomotiv Daugavpils in Poland, so there's even less chance of him signing for Newcastle now One day we'll see Rene Bach at Newcastle But he's 31 now...

Any ideas on our 2 rising stars then? Just general discussion Hard to think of who our senior rising star will be tbh...
-
Alright we get it, you don't like Adam Ellis...
-
I would be happy to see Adam and Ben at Plymouth, think that track suits both of them perfectly and Plymouth have a brilliant little set up down there... One of my favourite clubs. Adam is one of my favourite riders also, loved watching him this year, been a pleasure.
-
Yes, I know... Which is why I said if we CAN fit them in, as in the new team building points allow it without it being woefully weak again. Who knows, maybe they'll scrap the rising star program or maybe they'll increase the riders who are allowed to be rising stars etc. Maybe the CL will be allowed to use rising stars adding up to 6. Archie 2* and Connor 4* it's all speculation at this point. Will be very interesting to see what happens Hope they don't kick the dying sport while it's down again... Matty, Max and James take up 17.07 points (assuming these averages are final averages like I've been lead to believe they are) so say the team is built with a top 5 equalling up to 35 (which is a fair figure, if we're expecting a league similar strength to this year) then that would leave 17.93 for the final 2 riders. Meaning the final 2 main body riders could be a certain set of twins ...Now I don't particularly want either of them back myself... But I would be delighted if the DID come back. I would prefer to see some new faces however. The main piece of the puzzle that's left imo is who are we going to tempt in to be the reserve along side Archie. Kyle Bickley would be a good option, but could be prize him away from Berwick or any other team who is interested in him. Time will tell.
