Northern Junior League 2024
Fortythirtyeight replied to edmon's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Any chance you getting back involved ? -
Trigger to Poole I reckon , which is a shame as I thought he did well. Pijper would be ok if there's a strong partner , Mulford? , but then you need a number 2, Newman to return perhaps ? Wouldn't Jorgensen be an option instead of Riss / King ? Dont see the aforementioned Tom Spencer being up to Championship standard and if paired with Pijper you are very weak at reserve.

Doubt Redcar will be able to avoid fixture clashes if they aren't available as I believe Redcar don't arrange the fixtures the SCB do and other clubs will be reluctant to change knowing they are missing as its to their advantage, particularly the fellow Friday night tracks who wont want to mess their own home fixtures up. But then the ‘draws’ for the BSN and Cup have been conveniently rigged so who knows what they have ‘arranged’. Have the Polish fixtures been arranged yet ?

You have a very short memory. Previous Team number 1, above Charles Wright, previous Riders Champion, only his illness meant he had a poor 2023, double figure scores when guesting for Bears in 2024.

AGM news thread for 2025
Fortythirtyeight replied to SamKM91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Underwhelmed…again. Announcing ‘potential NDL extension’ ?….so something that hasn't actually been sorted and they promised a lot last year that didnt materialise. ‘Big weekend event’? In APRIL ??? Loads of questions… if these are to be run in early April some clubs wont have started their fixtures and we could be faced with riders representing clubs they have yet to ride for in any sort of meaningful fixture ? As they run so early then Im assuming the rider qualifications will be judged on the previous seasons average ? Riders Championship should be towards the end if the season so a club knows who is its number 1, not based on what happened the previous year, when so many riders will have moved clubs. No 4 team tournament is a disappointment. Two British GP’s and no big event the night before ? Cup/ BSN draws ?…they obviously weren't drawn at all. Disappointed? …yes, but then we knew it would be the same old same old… -
Is there a point to heat 15?

Bit early to be assuming all these teams are going to run in 2025 isn’t it ? -
So not McGee, who is the club press officer !

Berwick ‘buy a brick’ Bandits 2025
Fortythirtyeight replied to emilali's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
What assumptions? yes they do, the turnstiles figures dont lie. Our club promoter told those assembled at the club social, after the AGM, exactly who shouted what and how come they were allowed to run on a Friday despite the clash and protests with their local rivals, and also how Workington were told they couldnt run on a Friday, because Scunthorpe were ! If you think every club is equal around that top table then you need to give your head a shake, there have been loads of instances of ‘favouritism’ over the years and even the Premiership play offs this season with the rule book being ignored when it suits. Whilst the top table is run by club owners then it will never be run ‘for the good of the sport’. -

There used to be a rule regarding ‘seniority’ where the older club who ran on that night got priority on a fixture night class but Glasgow blew it out of the water when they went back to Fridays ( 2018 ? ) . Redcar had Fridays as their fall back night so should have had ‘seniority’ over Glasgow but now it’s who shouts the loudest and you can guess who wins that…..Scunthorpe? Glasgow ? You think Redcars crowd doesn't suffer on an off night ? -
Oxford Cheetahs 2025
Fortythirtyeight replied to Bojangles's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If, and it isn't going to happen , the championship went 2 H and 2A then I doubt very much that Oxford, or even Leicester , Redcar or Edinburgh would run in the NDL. -
Northern Junior League 2024
Fortythirtyeight replied to edmon's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
I remember when the NJL ran a riders championship, both as a one off 8 rider event as a second half and also the multi round GP style event , worked well then as riders had to travel to win the series. -

Is it run by the BSPL by any chance ? -

So it’s as I said, a two club challenge series. There are more 125 riders around the midlands than in the north. Birmingham and Leicester stage many 125 aces yet haven’t adopted the NJL race format , very strange. -

My point being I struggle to identify it as a ‘league’ when there’s only two clubs in it. By all means keep the series of challenge matches going but you can’t take a two club challenge and call it a ‘league’. The clubs face the same challenges as the NJL in finding riders and haven’t adapted to include the 125 or 250 riders that are abundant in their catchment areas for some reason despite the fact they can’t find four 500 riders to fill the team spots, why haven’t they followed that model ? -

Except perhaps Leicester , who run Premier League , NDL, MDL, amateur meetings and practices .
