I think they will still want to run the GP practice so that’s a no go.

Sings4speedway appears to be after the job of ‘ Voice of the Isle of Wight ‘ club or even after ‘ Voice of the NDL ‘ but then there are some happy clubs involved so perhaps not. Personaly I think it’s about time the division did go back to its roots of bringing on young riders , who only ride for expenses , like they did in the old days , or as it seems to be popular at the moment , “ for the benefit of the sport “ !

The type of team a club puts out, top heavy or balanced, is down to the participating clubs the rule allows it anyway they chose. I would have thought the clubs sensible enough to select riders on skill rather than just because they have a bike ! You appear to change your stance from one post to another. Good luck to only going to ‘ well balanced meetings ‘ .

I’m guessing you won’t be attending any Development League matches as you have such a downer on it now? The NL outgrew itself, paying riders who should have moved up too much to encourage them to stay and stagnate, big fish in a little pond. Now the sport needs to develop its own and bring on the youth which is what the new points limit is intended to do. The racing will be fine just a few seconds slower and a few more fallers perhaps. They have to start somewhere changing the sport and they’ve started here. It’s a shame that I.O.W. have pulled out but that’s their decision.

Be careful...what’s the interpretation of .?...” If successful, "up to 10,000 people or 25% of total seated capacity, whichever is lower" will be allowed in stadiums for sporting events, but not before 17 May.“ If a speedway club has only enough seats for 150-200 ( about the norm at a lot of tracks ) then 25% of that is not viable. Im sure there will be other twists and turns but I hope that is not a hardened fact type statement.

Very sad news as Barry will be a loss to speedway in the north east. He supported many, many riders of all abilities in speedway, grass track and moto x through his business supplying fuel and oil and he was a stalwart start Marshall at Redcar and occasionally Newcastle as well as doing two Grand Prix’s in his time. Barry was a smashing fella and he will be sadly missed around the tracks all over Europe. My condolences to his partner and the family.

Having spoken recently to one of the ‘ tentative enquirers’ I fear you may be correct ( for once ) . The figures certainly frightened off the former successful promoter.

Peterborough Panthers 2021
Fortythirtyeight replied to Noodles's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So the club can’t ( or didn’t want to ?) use its own asset ? The running of this sport gets stranger and stranger. -
Birmingham Brummies 2020

I’m sure that any ex rider offered all of that ( over fifteen grands worth of kit there ) would seriously think of making a comeback. As talented as he might have appeared at one point you sure someone would offer that to a youngster who’s walked away from the sport twice already ? -
Would think only Scunthorpe of those would look to run a side in any proposed division but I do wonder where all these riders are supposed to be coming from. If all the sides run plus 2 or 3 new teams then that’s another 21 riders to find who can actually race a bike not just ride one.

Have they announced what night/ day they will be racing ? -
I think he didn’t explain the full gist of the thread from a few years back when all this fiasco was actually happening. Buster and Godfrey actually bought around ten of the engines from the BSPA for themselves , that would be around two thirds of the engines that were delivered into the UK. A few were sold to riders, mainly juniors but they weren’t popular due to ignition issues. I believe he’s saying that Godfrey gave away the last of these engines that he owned, which he was very entitled to do. Dont think you will ever see one on track again , yet another one of the BSPA’s failures.

Since the end of the AGM have we actually been told anything ‘ official ‘ from the top table?

National League AGM (or whatever they have)
Fortythirtyeight replied to BuxtonTiger's topic in National League Speedway
I think Mr. ‘ Ringitsneck’ gets his information from his best buddy THJ ! Personally I don’t see how the sport can announce anything until the current Covid situation is under control. No crowd means no speedway , simple fact . -
Who are the Rising Stars?
Fortythirtyeight replied to enotian's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Your point about promoters votes is not true. The mafia re instated the no votes for new promoters for 3 years at the 2018/19 AGM so that’s Berwick, Birmingham, Redcar , Newcastle , and now Poole and probably Plymouth. That’s half the division ! -
Whilst the National League does have to abide by the BSP Ltd decisions and regulations it does have its own, independent conferences and any decisions it makes have to be ratified by the BSP Ltd. Mr.Pipe answers to them also. As the league is ‘ professional ‘ it has to abide by its governing bodies regulations.

Stock cars have shared many tracks over the years without major issues but a good track curator has been required to keep it right for speedway. Jonny Swales is highly regarded and did very good work at Newcastle considering its limitations . A ‘professional’ gets paid to do a good job or he gets sacked, a volunteer ‘ does a job because he/ she wants too but may not necessarily have the required skills. Brough park track was a challenge for a very good track man let’s hope the volunteers can maintain the standards he set. I believe Redcar had issues when Tony Swales ( Jonnys father and another very experienced track curator ) was moved on as a cost cutting exercise and they then had major issues with the volunteer track men that followed hence the employment of Terry ‘ the track ‘ as he is known. They then had one of the best race tracks in the country, just like Terry’s work at other tracks Coventry, Wolverhampton and Birmingham as well as him being called in to rectify tracks that had issues like Stoke, Somerset and the Isle of Wight. A good track curator is essential if the sport is to survive these days and they are worth their wages, whatever they are.

Or the so called ‘ Premiership’ is full of championship level riders which it’s paying too much.
-
The last time this subject was discussed at the top table ( 2017 ) six clubs declined to take part in it, don’t think their attitudes will have changed at all.
-
They certainly won’t t go back to Thursday under the current race night format as they’d lose their heat leaders. Think again Mr.Park.
-
Same happened to the Middlesbrough Stadium in the 90’s. “ Must be used for sport “ so they built a college on it and added an all weather five a side pitch at the end.

You obviously haven’t been following the speedway forums for very long as EVERYBODY was kicking off about too many riders doubling up, no club identity, no club loyalty, no difference between the divisions and outsiders thinking the sport was a joke . If your happy with doubling, that’s your choice but don’t then try and use the guest rule as an excuse. If there isn’t enough riders to fill teams in the first place then guests are going to be used , and abused , like they have done. Hence the arguments about too many Friday night tracks, lack of available riders! If we haven't got enough riders , don’t have so many teams or even perhaps so many divisions?
-
Which is exactly what they were trying to avoid by reducing doubling up/ Down! Do you not remember Scott Nicholls threatening court action ? There is supposed to be a deliberate difference in standards between the Premiership and Championship, wether we actually can see it or not.
-
Not sure where you get your facts from THJ but I can assure you, riders in the Premiership team I assisted at got a sign on fee. I should know , I helped negotiate them and some of the fees paid by certain clubs would blow your mind! Exactly the same when we dropped into the championship just less of a fee.
