  1. In the early 70’s I was there before the turnstiles opened at 6:30. Once opened, bought my programme and ran off to the 1 st floor seating in the Resteraunt/bar area to get our seats opposite the starting gate. Read the programme and then off to the track shop to purchase the Speedway Star and the Mail, check out the away programmes and badges on offer and purchase a favourite riders photograph or even rosette hoping to get it autographed in the bar after the meeting. Now, get to the track earlyish so I can get a cuppa . Oh how times have changed.

  5. Why don’t you try looking on the NJL section of this forum ? No secrets whatsoever!
  6. Yeah, like their rules are clear and followed all the time !
  7. For whatever reason the team concerned are unable to field a full legible side so can use an ineligible rider to complete the side but his/her points will not count in the overall result. So, if a ineligible rider finishes second in a race then the riders finishing behind him will be promoted into the appropriate scoring positions . On this occasion a rider who’s average is above 3 in the NDL prior to the start of the season was used therefore his points do not count. I assume he was used due to rider unavailability or injuries.
  8. Public can’t, you need a password. He will have recorded what actually occurred and then worked it out later….it took me some doing when I checked it !
  9. I’ve just checked the refs programme. The corrected result , without Gregor’s points is a win for Armadale 20-15.
  10. Even MORE confused ! Berwick’s points add up to 13 as G.Millars points do not count, so how did they win ?
  11. Something doesn’t add up ? 6 races = 36 points available but this is junior racing so I’m thinking either didn’t do all 6 races ? Or there was races when riders didn’t finish ? Stene got 9 so presumably the 125 races finished 3’s a piece in all three races as the Lothians points add up to 9 as well. Booth scored 4 so 9+4 = 13. Lewis Millar got 7 so he dropped 2 points to Booth ? If Gregor’s ( riding for Berwick as a ‘guest’? ) points don’t count at all then he just doesn’t score in the races and everybody who finished behind him gets the extra points? Confused am I ! can you help ?
  12. Would that be the same Anders Rowe that has been ‘dropped’ by other clubs too and not because of his scoring ? Love keyboard warriors who jump on the keyboard as soon as it’s isn’t going how it was hoped. There was already a shortage of riders when Roynon was signed. If everyone was riding to their ability then Roynon would only need to score his previous average and the club would be fine, but their not , so it isn’t but then that’s how it goes sometimes, teams rarely perform to the pre season hype, as Glasgow fans will testify. hoped.
  13. All results go to the league co-ordinator who deals with everything NJL related including dealing with the S/Star who don’t always publish what they are sent as it’s all space dependent. It takes them 3-4 weeks to publish amateur meeting results as they print them when they have space , not immediately after the event.
  14. That simply cannot be applied as some tracks cannot cope with ‘big meetings ‘ due to lack of pit space, car parking and limited capacity crowd levels.
  15. At current fuel rates it will cost me £120-£130 in fuel alone to travel to Poole, add entrance fee, programme, food and drink for the full day, evening and then consider that the 680 mile round trip may be done safer with an overnight stop so add a hotel / BnB….we are looking at £200 plus. Thats why a lot of northern based fans may not be willing to attend Poole for this meeting. Having said that I’m sure they will get a good crowd with just the locals anyway and it will still make a profit, without the travelling supporters, that’s what matters the people running a business, so it will be considered a success.
  16. Nothing the BSPL can do about it, it’s the riders choice.
  17. As speedway is primarily run on shale tracks running indoors is not an option, dust being the main issue, it covers everything! The clean up costs would be phenomenal at any scale. If you have been to Cardiff ? which is considered a small track then the size of the building required would be huge to accommodate not only a crowd but health and safety regulations. Anybody who has witnessed ‘ indoor speedway ‘ in the past, be that Telford, the NEC or elsewhere , will tell you it’s isn’t speedway as we know it, it’s gimmick speedway and not for the connoisseur’s.

  20. As Flat track events are run at a lot of current speedway tracks who hire out their stadium to the organisers what’s your point ? The IOW make ‘ it work ‘ on a very small scale, riders pay to ride, they get a very small paying crowd, so it works on a very small and occasional scale, it’s not a full time business. Good on them for doing it but it doesn’t baffle anybody.
  21. Hopefully the league coordinator will post something either here or in the Star at some point , probably en mass to save drip feeding the odd result.
  22. If your place of employment is not a happy one and your not getting ‘ your rewards ‘ then you don’t perform to your best or throw a ‘ sickie ‘ and don’t turn up. The track was a vast improvement but it did appear to catch out the home riders who , as could be witnessed , were very low on morale for good reason ( the rumour you spoke of ? ). No one wants to see it close but the problems are obvious.
  23. According to the promoters rant in the pits for all to hear…….NOW!
