Northern Junior League 2023
Fortythirtyeight replied to Fortythirtyeight's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
It’s still not a ‘MDL league ‘, it’s a challenge fixture between Birmingham and Redcar at best . As the MDL only used 500 riders the parents/guardian issue wouldn’t have a great deal of bearing , the NJL manages because of Jamie Swales getting the 125’s integrated into the league in 2013 which the MDL refused to do , very short sighted in my opinion. Also the NJL is run by the clubs themselves not ‘ghost teams’ although they did have Halifax and Castleford at various times in the their history. -

Wouldn’t know, just others making 2+2 = 7. -

With just Birmingham and Redcar ? You can’t call that a league . -

Well they shouldn’t be as it wasn’t difficult to work it out at the time, as long as you understood the rule. Shouldn’t be an issue this year with the change in eligibility. The MDL isn’t running so the SS may have space for NJL news for a change. -

Nothing of the sort. There isn’t any clubs looking at a breakaway league, simply the IOW wanting some competition running amateur racing in the south of the country. -

No idea, most clubs don’t own the stadiums they run in. -

Doesn’t add up though, does it? They , the SCB , are happy that other tracks run both so why not Plymouth ? The SCB or BSPL cannot stop a stadium owner hiring their stadium to whoever they please -

Presentation of some evidence that this has actually happened would be good . Several other tracks that run SCB speedway are also running Nora events so something doesn’t add up. -
Utter rubbish. There is no such thing as ‘ blue methanol’, the statement referred to ‘additives’ that are used by some 125cc riders which is perfectly legal in Europe and in any other motorsport and which was seen being used at the Ben Fund meeting and was openly used by 2 or three competitors. They have now been advised not to use it in the UK.
-
The scenarios discussed were not brought up by me but by promoters and team managers but they did raise valid points which had not been considered by the rule makers, hence the amendments. The use of the number 8 and his eligibility being a huge one.
-
The rule book was in print before the clubs were informed of the new changes. The no.8 rule being one and the super duper heat etc . When certain ‘scenarios’ were pointed out to the rule makers they accepted that one or two amendments would have to be made. So don’t rely on what’s written down months ago as it may have been superseded , which, in speedway, happens often when one club interprets a rule one way and the opposition interprets it another way. Do you recall the Robert Lambert scenario?
-
The no.8 can now replace any rider at any time, but those declared riders in the 1-7 ( minus whoever the R/R was for to require a no. 8 ) must still take their three rides unless withdrawn through injury.
-
Incorrect. Number 8’s in the championship can take seven rides too, which came as a shock to the promoters when it was announced at the SCB seminars.
-
Just because they are ‘available’ doesn’t mean they will be followed at all times by everybody.

The SS haven't shown an interest in the NJL fixtures and results for a number of years now. -
You obviously don’t keep up with what goes on in speedway. The saying ‘ rules are there to be broken ‘ come to mind.

It depends who’s asking ….

Strangely enough, the CMO was from Berwick ! -
All 6 northern promoters are ‘doing something’, good that Laurence is joining in.
