Dean, Ipswich ??? do me a favour you are embarrassing yourself now! You must have missed SWC in 2016 when the stadium was full with additional stands the stadium and the event was widely recognised as the best ever SWC run in the UK. I was there on the Saturday final and the atmosphere was electric. You need to stop digging Dean.

You’ve got a serious problem Dean with your eyes...you can't see clearly as they are full of green envy. Be interesting to know your favourite UK stadium and why?
-
2 BV legends, not 100% sure think Peter Collins is in wedding car hire....well he was. Not seen him at BV for a few years since his mate Chris Morton left. Think Mort might be doing insurance-finance?
-
No there’s a number of summer sports included in the bail out.
-
Oh please do me a favour...the blokes a clueless clown.

Why is Speedway not recognised?
Speedtiger replied to Henllys's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
So go on Phil please tell us precisely what Godfrey has been active on...fans deserve to know exactly what he’s done. Time for some investigative journalism! -
The truth is both Chapman and Godfrey were in charge at bspa and I’m told blew well over £500k on Ill thought out daft ideas and the infamous engine project. You are right that the sport was bust before the Covid virus and it’s not a big surprise that the government is not offering a bail out loan.
-
I’m afraid this is a clear indication, as if it was needed, as to how far speedway has plummeted over the past few years that the government considered it’s not worth saving with tax payers money. Don’t blame the government, blame the people like Chapman and Godfrey who have run the sport into the ground and squandered and wasted all the ‘rainy day’ money that was there to help in bad times..!
-
Apparently the money announced are ‘loans’ and maybe the sport/clubs didn’t want to take out loans or they didn’t pass the strict loan criteria. Either way still think its another kick in the teeth for speedway.

I think Joe Screen top Ace rider runs a pets home in Warrington area

TBH can not really see the point of put out a 2021 fixture list, what will that achieve? The way things are going might as well put out one for 2022 or 23!
-
Agreed. Both ‘sports’ was in a real bad shape and serious decline well before the virus crisis. Clubs was losing huge amount of money, clubs going bust or closing down and clubs up for sale with zero interested. Sadly the future looks very bleak for speedway. I wouldn’t want to be a promoter with money invested. NOT doom and gloom but realistic!
-
It’s clear the way things are going with Covid-19 that fans will not be allowed in stadiums for many months, in fact it could be years. Difficult to see how clubs and the sport can survive with zero income.
-
Have I missed something here....but why have a National Stadium and not have the National Championship there! But the clowns that so called ‘run’ the sport arrange to hold it a rubbish track in the middle of nowhere? Surely this is a joke!
-
Rolling over season ticket to 2021, hoping the Covid situation will improve, on the face of it seems ok but that’s just going to cause a major cash flow problem next year as many clubs survive on season ticket money coming in before the start of the season to finance all the pre-season set up costs. Kicking the financial can down the road will clearly have serious consequences. The way things are going I fear some clubs will really struggle to get through to 2021...and that’s assuming speedway meetings will be able to take place with a crowd by then. Realistically there’s still a long way to go with this dreadful crisis and the fall out!
-
Many have been and many have gone....!!! Even a genius innovation like the transponder won’t save him. The green eyed monsters in Rugby will be seething with jealousy at this fantastic BV achievement!

Nothing!

Time to have an enquiry into the death of Speedway
Speedtiger replied to HackneyHawk's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I went to Glasgow for the PO Final last year and from the moment you turn up at the stadium it feels like you're going to be watching a professionally run sport, it's the standard all other clubs should be aiming for... it's just a shame they can't make it pay! i agree Glasgow have improved greatly and to there credit, very impressive BUT on there own admission they lost over £100k...no wonder they bailed out of CL this season. That sort of loss is unsustainable. -
Time to have an enquiry into the death of Speedway
Speedtiger replied to HackneyHawk's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
HackneyHawk and Fromafar say some very tough and some would say harsh things, BUT they are true, NOT doom and gloom but realistic. The owner/promoters are totally to blame for the demise of the sport, in particular over the past few years, when it’s gone from bad to worse. The management of the BSPA, Godfrey, Chapmen & Co are woefully poor and fail to see that if people stop buying your products, it’s more than likely the product that is wrong NOT the customer, it’s as simple as that!! The Covid crisis is only speeding up the inevitable closure of Clubs as many were ‘zombie’ businesses staggering along and ready to die. Speedway is currently financially unsustainable and Clubs are running up huge debts that can not be repaid, the result will be disastrous. Only a lunatic, with more money than sense, would invest in speedway. Sadly but truthfully the people running the sport have proved to be clueless clowns and do not possess the acumen to turn things around. -
If the form of the BSPA over past few years is anything to go by you can safe bet they did zero to get the season going. The Chief Clown Godfrey and his co clown Chapman haven’t the intelligence to lobby and enthuse loyal fans let alone the UK government. If they had lobbied why haven’t they informed fans about the situation? The BSPA have lazily sat back and hoped things would happen and nothing has. Frankly they are totally useless. No wonder the sport is in the derelict state it is in.

Good post Mikebv, what has happen is very tough on clubs but the non running of the league’s in 2020 was inevitable months ago. It just shows the level of importance or should I say lack of it, that the cancellation of speedway in the UK hasn’t been mentioned on any main stream sports media. Speedway doesn’t get a line! Sadly many businesses will and are going bust and I fear this will also wipe out some clubs and put promoters in serious financial distress. Clearly there’s much going to happen and change between now and next March. Difficult times for many.
-
Good move, fully appreciate anything that keeps SS in circulation, frankly, I really don’t know how you keep going, it must be an never ending nightmare with the steady downward spiral of the sport in recent years and now the Covid 19 virus things must be very stressful.
-
Well done CVS, this would have been very difficult and clearly painful to write but at last a sensible realistic view of the situation that wolves and speedway are in and sadly will continue to be in for some time.
-
Who knows...but looking back the NSS was planned and built during the financial crash of 2008...which went on for years!

Peterborough Panthers 2020

Agreed, Chapman is spineless and I doubt if that’s going to happen as it should have been dealt with weeks ago. Transparency and integrity are unfamiliar virtues to this inapt promoter!
