Agreed, it’s because the clowns of Rugby are arrogant and useless. They constantly treat fans as being as stupid as they are. This last PR proclamation is nothing more than smoke and mirrors to make us think this is being done to bring on young British riders...thats rubbish they tried similar in 2015 and it didn’t work. They are dumbing speedway down and fans will know it and will inevitably drift away. And promoters will scratch there heads and wonder why!
-
Getting fixtures out isn’t that imperative as the way things are going the chance of starting the season in May is becoming more of a BSPA fairytale dream. There’s a long way to go with this crisis and far more important issues to deal with other than speedway.
-
Agreed, NO chance but the product clubs are putting out is a £10 max. If any other business, supermarket etc put forward a drastically reduced product at the same price you clearly wouldn’t buy it and that’s what will happen with speedway, if it ever gets going 2021! Which is debatable!
-
Maybe yes but not sure what being “fully behind” it is? No details, nothing defined. No plan. Just words! NB. TV deals do not bring in fans...they want armchair viewers.
-
This is a good move and will encourage and benefit the young up and coming riders. It’s not an original concept as a similar thing has been done before. Will it improve the speedway product and put more bums on seats? I very much doubt it. I fully appreciate the BSPL PR has to be positive and optimistic but inevitable this underwhelming announcement will not have much impact on making the sport sustainable and saving clubs and promotors from going bust!

...and that’s my point what a poor state British Speedway is in if he is one of the best! Dumb down and down and down! -

Don’t think that will be met with many cheers at BV...Batchelor isn’t a popular rider or much good for that matter! Not excited., -
Temporary Plan for 2021?
Speedtiger replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Bet it will be something to do with helmet colours, or maybe 4 man teams 5 laps races going clockwise and the season starts 1st November. -
Surely the only biscuit the BSPA clowns would have is ‘Jammy Dodgers’?
-
AGM, pathetic, what a joke from the BSPA clowns! They’ve had months to come up with a plan and came up with nothing! No wonder the sport is in terminal decline. Won’t be surprised if Eurosport will be the next to pull out. Worthless product!
-
Another serious body blow to speedway and I fear the way things are going it won’t be the last. So many clubs are in financial trouble you can not blame owners-promoters for taking these tough decisions.
-
Agree mikebv but most clubs, riders and stadiums won’t survive until September or October it’s just not going to happen. Maybe Swindon have done the right thing pulling out but sadly I suspect they will not return. The situation with Covid is extremely serious for everyone, good businesses are going bust and people being put out of work inflicting hardship, speedway and sport is the least of concerns at this time.
-
To be fair I don’t think TR would be fobbed off to easily, he a is smart promoter who knows the score.
-
There’s more to this than just the stadium and the real truth about what’s gone on at Swindon will seep out over time. After all the smoke and mirrors excuses by all concerned you can bet it’s mainly about money!
-
Sadly you are right...this is not just the Covid situation, Swindon Robins have been sold down the river! Think back to Reading Racers!! All that history gone!
-
No sure how old TR is but must be in his 70’s. Swindon losing money, the stadium not going to happen and the whole sport in a deep mess so maybe he’s decided enough is enough! Who could blame him.
-
They don’t, I suspect something else behind this decision. The bspa are not known for there honesty. They treat fans with contempt!
-
They’ve had plenty of time and advanced knowledge about the rider issues.
-
Puzzling that they have delayed the AGM as it must have been planned to be done on zoom due to wide spread restrictions?
-
A very good read again this week, SS is the only consistent thing in speedway at the moment, so well done for keeping going under what must be extraordinary difficult situation. Let’s hope SS is still around next season as it would be sorely missed.

Businesses and Sports will survive this pandemic BUT what state and level will they be in after being beaten up by the worlds biggest health and economic crisis in over a hundred years? As far as speedway is concerned a return to ‘normal’ would be a return to a very poor level, even before the Covid crisis the sport was in a critically bad shape, unsustainable, clubs losing fortunes and going bust and the sport still being run by incompetent clowns in Rugby. Being realistic a return to ‘normal’ is not something I can get over excited about!
-
Yes I’m sure he did and pigs might fly! The truth is Godfrey and his mate Chapman are clowns, they couldn’t run a booze up in a brewery!
-
Totally agree Mikebv, but speedway is not the only sport to have dwindling crowds, it’s a tough competitive time and people have lots of options to spend there leisure time and money. BUT the BSPA and Clubs are lazy and clueless, they couldn’t promote themselves out of a paper bag. We have a young triple World Champion and against all the odds built a fantastic NSS with a world class track but who knows about these achievements, most people have never heard of TW and don’t even know of the NSS existence. You hear so often “oh is speedway still going” or “I used to go but got fed with all the daft changes” The people at the top running the sport and the club promoters are completely to blame as they are more interested in petty jealousy, inward thinking and tinkering with rules rather than listening to fans (customers) and vigorously promoting the attributes of speedway and attracting a new young fan base. All to late now as the sport is bust and irrelevant today as it has little or no widespread appeal and sadly will never return to the ‘glory days’.
-
The simple fact is the NSS is the best speedway track and stadium in UK if not Europe but the truth is the people running the BV club are clueless as to how to promote a speedway club. There’s no energy, been no improvement, they are just going through the motions. Smith is just a hired hand ex insurance salesman and knows nothing about speedway and how to promote the sport. Lemon is just a ex-rider who knows nothing about running a speedway club. Since the first season in 2016 crowds have actually fallen which is incredible achievement when you consider the fantastic standard of the racing and the quality of the stadium. IMO BV-NSS needs to get the right experienced ‘speedway people’ who know how to promote the sport. PC for one?

Ok Im done with this now you are just being ridiculous. The green eyed monster had got you.
