  1. I think easy to underestimate how badly injured Jordan Stewart was in that crash at PB it was horiffic not unlike the one Mitchell Davey had. Maybe a year in some Aussie sun may be the best healer. Edwards is an excellent prospect as good as any of the current crop. The respective Team Managers at Eastbourne and Plymouth last season probably wanted short term fixes and overruled their Owners at the time. Edwards improved a lot once he got substantial NDL track time at Mildenhall. He's one for the future and Redcar have 2 excellent and improving reserves with him and Jenkins. A nicely balanced side.
  2. I doubt that a Club which is bankrolled and owned by a multi million pound turnover major employer would have any problem acquiring the necessary licences to get work permits. A bit more likely than a hairdresser maybe?
  3. If we're looking for divine intervention how about Richard Lawson (son of God) Pontus Aspgren Christian Hefenbrock Joshua Auty Mark Riss Luke Bowen Stephen Goret
  4. Zenon Plech (what could he have been with the kind of money and investment the Poles have now) and Tommy Jansson (tragically lost when approaching peak) are the best 2 I can think of from the past who had everything to be World Champions and may have benefitted from GP format rather than one-off Finals.
  5. might not suit a young brit who wants opportunities in Polish Squads (Kemp would fit) Dillon Ruml or Zane Kelleher surplus to requirements at Plymouth may fit. especially if track shop got a surplus of Z's for the merchandise
  6. Might be worth a shout especially if Mrs Lawson prefers shopping in The Bull Ring to Poole Harbour
  7. Sorry to be the harbenger of some harsh reality; but isn't the clear message that the 2022 Team will be built to a budget and have to be cost effective. I can't see any scope for big expensive signings and with clear mistakes made by other teams in paying out way too much for heat leaders; and our own well documented problems in 2021; although they were more to do with crowd figures and loss of sponsorships due to Covid 19, I think we all have to be grateful for Speedway in 2022 and aim to build a team that can basically win at home. The investment of time and effort announced in completely renovating the track is certainly far wiser than paying extortionate sums in air fares, signing on fees and points money that cant be afforded, let alone a big rent hike they'll have to find. A massive well done to all involved lets back them in numbers and with a bit of reality to safeguard a proper future.
  8. Shield comp.. 3 regional leagues winners to final.??
  9. Confirmed 10 home league 1 KOC 3 summer shield So 14 minimum matches Great news.
  10. Keep the faith I'm sure they'll insist any announcements come from the Politbureau and their Pravda Channels.
  11. In the short term midweek and weekday Clubs in CL will become more attractive to young British riders like Kemp, Brennan and many others as they'll be able to earn 5 to 10x more potentially in Poland in time via their U24 league and 2nd and 3rd tier Clubs. UK just can't compete with what's on offer there not just pay but practice and overall professionalism of Club set ups. If you imagine PL football in England and top level football in Poland reversed.. You won't be far off. BSPL and Clubs need to wake up to this almost certain asset stripping. We could be world champions but never see our world champions... Oh we are!.. How many times will we see Tai, Lambert, Bewley in 2022?..fast forward 5 years and there could be a dozen or more of the next generation totally lost to British league speedway. Brennan, Kemp, Flint already have Polish deals for 22 and may be based there in a few years like the current big 3 Brits.
  12. Won't be an issue as Ipswich (PL) have protected race nights on Monday / Thursday. Glasgow (CL) not allowed to ride on those nights as PL protected
  13. Surely the shoe in No 1 is Ben Morley? If the rumoured increase in NDL sides happens next week probably Kinsley / Spooner may get chances elsewhere and Mulford may want to do Grass on a weekend and Speedway in the week. Gilkes I agree needs to be looking at bigger ponds now or an NDL berth at Oxford possibly? (close to home)
  14. may be Paul Starke back at Glasgow? (or will he go to Oxford too?)
  15. Braefield is interesting as it's shaled and run by Spedeworth who seem to have a good relationship with Speedway. It has staged Speedway in the past. It's location is probably the biggest negative but it is between some decent conurbations Northampton, Milton Keynes, Kettering and Coventry at a push.
  16. Glasgow / Edinburgh could become very attractive to a host of young British riders wanting to break in to Polish scene who are also PL rising stars or no 8's in PL. Ride home matches on a Friday in CL / Fly out from Glasgow / Edinburgh for the weekend in Poland, then back for PL / CL Monday to Thursday. Away trips to Leicester / Berwick can be fitted in around that schedule.
  17. The problem is ARC and their "business model". They have realised that they can run Dogs with or without Crowds during Covid 19. By getting Betting Levy income they can run behind closed doors, minimal staff, minimal costs and make more profit in a couple of days than Speedway (or anything else) will pay in a season in rent. Their argument would be that they don't need the hassle! Live Dog racing beamed round the globe is as close to a virtual sport in the flesh as you can get. They have taken over Perry Barr, Newcastle ; Sittingbourne. Hopefully no more dog / speedway venues will fall in to their clutches.
  18. It wouldn't be a surprise with so few heat leader level riders available. The current economic climate isn't making it easy to find sponsors either and add in Covid concerns. At 50k a season rent NDL is not really viable either. We live in hope though no other options.
  19. I just hope we get accepted even if we get excepted from things like voting rights and fixture preferences Keep the faith!
  20. I've read they have to signal a firm inrention before the AGM on 7th December. It would appear from the news in this weeks Speedway Star that things are to quote "increasingly positive" but that no deal has been done yet between Peter and David and the new Consortium. I would think the Masons would perfectly understandably want to recoup as much as possible to help reduce the significant losses from 2021 and that the new Consortium would want to be sure that their figures add up too so that they are not going to lose huge sums of money. Team wise the core still seem to be unattached but heat leader quality riders seem in short supply unless you are over-paying like some have done and get their fingers badly burnt. As they say sometimes no news is good news and until we're out we're in. Prayer mats out and thermal underwear on in while we wait.
  21. I think criticism of the twins and comparisons with Flint / Palin is unfair. Flint had a full NDL season in 2018 and again in 2019 and would be 12-24 months ahead of the Twins and Palin may simply be a better rider at this point. Due to Covid it's safe to say that both twins were thrown a bit in at the deep end in 2021, the NDL was not the League it once was in terms of depth and the CL is stacked with a lot of experienced second strings and reserves. I think both are still ahead of the curve. Maybe time for them to split and I wonder if Joe might go to Oxford possibly, although that could be a big stretch for their parents at this stage of their careers until they become more self sufficient. Probably level at this stage with likes of Bickley and Edwards who have more experience. Give them a break!
  22. A slang term in some parts to describe a long haired unkempt rocker type. A term some of us would have seen as a badge of honour 40 years ago
  23. Aren't most of us Speedway fans retired and watching Lorraine at that time?
