  1. That could open up a real can of worms.. I think when you have consumate professionals, as opposed to tokens; like as an example Hazel Irvine, Suzie Perry, Vicky Gommersall then absolutely 100% they add something. Then you may find experts in their field like Karen Carney, Claire Balding who add something. The biggest issue with any Commentataor, male ; female or not sure (to be politically correct) is the voice. There is nothing worse than an annoying voice for any Commentator. I hear some of the women Rugby Commentators and it's like scratching your fingers down polystyrene. I found Perry and Sophie Blake knowlegable and listenable, some since on Speedway less so.
  2. Yes, may have been more sensible to wait as Berwick could have travelled over from Plymouth base in a couple of hours.
  3. like I said "devils advocate" / "jig the pairings around" some people just can't help being negative.
  4. Lets play devils advocate for a minute and consider this. A 10 Team PL and a 10 Team 2nd Tier (PL a PL/top CL mix and CL a lower CL / NDL mix) - A buddy up system where a core Squad of say 12-14 can be signed Belle Vue / Berwick KIngs Lynn / Newcastle Ipswich / Oxford Peterborough / Redcar Sheffield / Scunthorpe Wolverhampton / Birmingham Poole / Eastbourne Swindon / Plymouth Glasgow / Edinburgh Leicester / Mildenhall You'd have to allow scope for likes of Kent ; Workington to come in and possibly jiggle pairings round a bit to match race days instead of geography. Would require a fair dollop of good old 70's style rider control.
  5. Fair play to Sedgeman who may have finally realised he's in last chance saloon in UK and needs to apply the talent he's always had. It was a greasy track that suited gaters and he made a start every race. We shouldn't heap pressure on him to do that every week, if he scores 7 or 8 points its job done. First visit to Oxford since the late 80's. Good Crowd, appreciative home support too who don't just seem to be there to see the Team win with some good banter. Restored my faith a little and I may have found a second home of sorts as although a longer trip, with likely traffic chaos around PB worsening if I get a clear run down m42 and 40 its not that much worse than sitting on m6 Car park every Wednesday. The new track shape at Cowley is excellent and like the way they've moved the Pits and made it visible and not hidden away.
  6. I don't hold Adam at fault here. He's done his deal, obviously his PL Club and Overseas Clubs were aware of that deal. He's undoubtedly been told not to comment on his Brummies deal by our Management. He's negotiated a deal with someone, it's been approved by the Club Directors and if some rumours are true Brummies outbid Plymouth. The fault lies elsewhere and not Adam in my opinion.
  7. Oh how I'd love the Brummies segments to be so quiet. Silence is sometimes golden
  8. I feel very let down having always tried to back Birmingham Promotions past and present. If they'd just have fronted up and said, Adam is on a rolling Contract that will be reviewed. I feel bitter that the Mansgement Committee are clearly complicit in this to protect Sheffield sadly no surprise there from Mr Bates. I think we're worse affected than Newcastle whose Promoter has been more up front about expectations and Plymouth who at least still have 3 heat leaders plus before injury Gilkes. I never thought I'd say this but it will be occasional trips to various tracks for me now and I want be busting a gut to get to Perry Barr every week.
  9. Team GB and Team GB Youth is separate and independent run by Rob Painter and Vicky Blackwell. They report to SCB apparently. I think there has been conflict like last season when some U21 7 man Team International Fixtures were arranged but had to be cancelled at short notice when one veteran Promoter wouldn't release a rider on a set date and got Management Committee to back him 2 good Fixtures were lost. Great chance of experience missed.
  10. Credit where it's due, I thought Tatum and Louis and Scotty were excellent last night. Kelvin in commentary, Chris in his analysis and comments and Scotty getting riders to open up and not just to inane questions. As good as it's ever been and that's not dissing Nigel at all but praising those now in the chairs.
  11. Not being deliberately controversial but the elephant in the room is clear. As long as the older generation; Harris; Nicholls, Cook, Masters, Lawson, King; Morris, Worrals; Wright; Kerr; etc are allowed to double up, many of them that could be affored 5-10 years ago but which cannot be afforded now but which some Clubs have to pay to be competitive then the sink will be continually blocked and the younger riders paths will be lost and wasted. They will go to Poland and u24 leagues or if not good enough drift away from the Sport. May be you have hit on something but with a twist. PL for all CL for British born or Qualified Under 24 with may be one over 24 or foreign rider oNLY allowed
  12. As VC to Buster until late 2018,, was Mr Godfrey not effectively Chairman in all but name of CL under longstanding protocol that each of the 2 top leagues would not interfere in each others affairs. Have Plymouth and Birmingham not been denied signings this season by MC? Is it not the case that 2 Members of the BSPL MC are also on the SCB MC together with an ex BSPL Promoter thus ensuring overall control of SCB MC? I'm happy to be corrected on that if wrong. Is it not 100% the case that in 2018 on a number of occasions that Lakeside and Workington had matches called off at 3 to 4 days notice by MC due to lack of availability of Guests. Especially Lakeside and always on Fridays when Scunthorpe needed a Guest?
  13. I think we all know what the original agenda was here. Create a PLJL to gain assets for PL Clubs Create a PLJL to try to close 3rd Tier (a couple of years ago b4 Plymouth and Kent moved up after Somerset closed unexpectedly) Neuter IOW who BSPL MC whose model and success BSPL were scared of . That left Mildenhall as stand-alone and they hoped to fob them off with some Shared meetings, fair play to Mildenhall though they stodd their ground and NDL regained strength with doubling up Teams coming in to join them. The PLJL no longer serves a purpose for PL or BSPL so it's been quietly kicked in to the very long grass.
  14. Let's go back to 2018 when The CHAIRMAN lost a rider to injury so gave himself a Guest ALL season and even cancelled others Clubs Fixtures so he could get a suitable Guest. Let's look at the failure post Brexit to be prepared for Visa delays that were clearly going to happen Let's look at the failure to put some sort of limit on the combined average of top 3 heat leaders. Let's look at the closed shop that is the PL meaning not enough riders to stock 11 CL Clubs to a more level playing field. It's far deeper than Newcastle, Birmingham and Plymouth. They are victims of the system as opposed to them being the perpetrators. The sport is run by a cartel, for the cartel full of their own agendas. Start with an inpedendent Governing body, separate the SCB which the BSPL have effectively taken over and neutered.
  15. I thought Adams dad was on here? Thanks for the heads up though.
  16. Sommelier to be fair is usually very accurate in his comments and predictions and not someone who makes things up for attention. It does unfortunately ring true with some others who were saying that it was a short term deal until Denmark really kicked in to their Fixtures and the Swedish Legue (the night b4) gut going too. There is someone on here who will know, in fact there are 2 people who will definitely know, one in Adams camp and one who runs brummies, hopefully either one or both of them can confirm the validity as soon as possible.
  17. Used to be a wall just below surface off 2nd turn allegedly at Long Eaton Dave Perks knew exactly where it was and stuck his back wheel on it and get massive speed off it
  18. I remember speedway at Brandon. Every meeting right after second half you could stand in the upper bar and watch them blading the track back to perfection. I was told back then that a blade in the wrong hands is counter productive as you need an expert. Otherwise you just blade the contours of the old surface in to a new one, hence may be why dips remain.
  19. Really I recall major problems at some Polish tracks in last few seasons with tracks and complaints, especially when it rains. They also have loads of modern state of the art kit. Besides most Polish tracks have full time employed staff, many UK tracks have 40 year old tractors and willing hard working volunteers making do.
  20. It's all about balancing the need for income and the quality of the track. The more you use a track for training and as a commercial asset the quicker it will deteriorate The more you use it in winter the quicker the deterioration. You reap what you sow. Maybe they need to cancel all non match day track use now until they get it fixed?
  21. Its always tough to prepare when rains about. Genuine question, with Steve Lawson spending so much time creating what looks like a masterpiece at Northside are they missing his magic touch track prep wise?
  22. Has Mr Shovlar got a flat battery? Surely can't say gate and go based on speedway updates?
  23. It was borderline in my opinion. Hard very hard riding. Just very strange that the race vanished for 24 hours.
  24. Might take that long to get to hospital and back BUT if there is a 4 hour delay to get in to A+E the Ambulance can't just leave the patient in the Car Park on a trolley. I have known riders being ferried in cars but any sort of head or breathing injury or bad break the paramedics won't allow it.
