Doesn't matter who is playing. It's competitive speedway. Ask how many Plymouth fans who'll go to support their patched up team or Brummies fans like me who've booked holiday around the fixture if we care? -

I 100% disagree. How do you know when the injured riders are going to be fit? Good chance some will be out all season and others may not be fit for 2-3 weeks at least. How long do you wait? Weathers set fair, better than even chance that end of August , September / October could be a complete wash out. Plymouth had a weakened team the other week v Poole at home, kept scores respectable and a big crowd apparently. They had a weak team v Oxford last week, somehow got a draw and another good crowd. They've played PR brilliantly and called on the "in the trenches spirit" very well. Poole raced an incredibly weak Brummies Team last week. Had a very good crowd and some entertaining racing. Both Plymouth and Poole will get good "walk up" holiday crowds. They wont understand Guests and R/R and nuances, they just want to be entertained. It's not like they've advertised top stars or full teams. Anyone going who has bothered to look will know the make up of the teams. Hopefully its a good match, good crowd, entertaining and NO ONE gets injured. Most there outside of the hardcore simply won't figure that Michael Palm Toft and Ben Barker arent there but Lewi Kerr and Richie Worrall are... It's 15 heats of Speedway. Enjoy it while its there and moan when it's not. -
Restaging British final Adam Ellis 21 Champ who never had SGP chance gets wildcard Fair play I thinks both counts right
-
Let's not confuse 2 issues here. The British Final CAN and should be fully restaged. The SGP wildcard is effectively between Brennan and Harris. Thats the only decision to be made

Agreed It would actually be good to know what the criteria of speedway testing is and just as important what's not covered -

I can't argue re athletics but the point I'm making is that I think they are different sports testing for different things. Maybe good if the SCB or BSPL could actually say what is tested for and what isn't. -

I think youre100% correct if you were referring to the testing procedures used by elite sports. Those sports testing for steroids and anabolic drugs and masking drugs. Soccer, Cycling. Rugby, Athletics, Weight Lifting, etc. I don't believe that Speedway is testing to that level or type of substance. I believe its more of a recreational drug and alcohol urine test. There have been examples of complete innocence like Kyle Howarth due to prescription drugs Plymouth PR was very specific about prescription drugs Barker was taking for known and documented injuries. They must have evidence of those prescriptions and GP or Hospital evidence. The B Test in this case should be able to distinguish the amount and type of substances genuinely in prescribed medicines and genuinely in illegal recreational drugs. Got little to do with WADA type steroid tests although it is under the same umbrella of Sport. Like others have said innocent until proven guilty. The fact he took the test rather than scarper like Steve Boxhall says something too. -

Berwick v Glasgow Jubilee Cup 30/07/2022
HGould replied to screm's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Each Club with a sponsors licence has I think 5 licences. If a Club doesn't have one, I think Company has to have min 3 years of accounts so in real terms more than 4 years old, they can ask a Club with unused licences to ask if they can use one. Thats my understanding anyway -

Alan. Thats professional sport doing it as it should be. Speedway is light years away from that. -

Two key words there. Professional Serious It's a sport that has historically turned a blind eye to recreational drugs and alcohol excesses. How many random drug tests have been taken this season? I spoke to a doubling up rider yesterday who hasn't been at a meeting where drug tests have taken place since 2017. Thats scandalous. -

What is the point of this tripe. You've no idea who we may pick as Guests. You've no idea if Plymouth will have 1 rider fit or 5 or 6 What is Poole fans obsession with belittling other Clubs? Pathetic. -
The idea of running a "Summer Cup" that was then renamed a "Jubilee Cup" in the middle of the League programme because the League programme started too soon and ended too soon now looks to be the joke it is! In 2019 the season started with "The Shield" (the Summer Cup in another name). The benefit starting with "The Shield" was that it actually attracted good early season Crowds, actually had full strength Teams and delivered some competitive semi-finals later in the summer. If I remember correctly the infamous Eastbourne v Glasgow match was a Shield semi final - certainly full strength Teams and no lack on intensity in that one was there! Had they started 2022with The Shield (aka Summer / Jubilee Cup) it would have been taken seriously and led to a more sensible spread of League Fixtures, especially in August! Not rocket science is it?

Exactly. Any simple Google search though will give you evidence and detailed analysis of the fact that high dose amounts of these drugs can stay in the system for up to 3 days and lead to false drugs tests based on how quickly the liver dilutes the various trace elements and morphine levels. I'm not saying Barker is innocent nor guilty in the same way that Kyle Howarth failed a test and was able to persuade powers that be that it was due to Night Nurse (allegedly) although he had shoulder problems. Clearly the more detailed analysis of his p-test will show a far more accurate picture. Plymouth have been transparent and to a degree set out their defence strategy. Only one person really knows what he has or hasn't taken and hopefully the test will be conclusive one way or another. -
Didn't the NDL do that last year, reduce Guest Bookings to a couple of meetings and then have a list of unattached riders. I'd go a stage further and a form of Rider Control. (A) List all riders above 8 points (B) List all riders 6 to 7.99 (C) List all riders 4 to 5.99 (D) List all under 4 Work out a sensible Points Limit once you have built the Groups and you can have 1 rider from List A , max 2 from List B , max 3 from List C etc The availability of UK based Riders and of ability zones A B C D would dictate limit Unattached Riders would go on Guest Pool - ideally you'd not have any in LIST A but may have some overseas / overseas based riders who could take occasional Bookings to build some margin of availability.... Got to stop this ridiculous situation of 2-3 Clubs having 3 Heat Leaders over 8 points and 3-4 Clubs having none!

I remember being given Codeine and Morphine as a kid when I broke my collarbone. If it produces morphine doesn't that mean the body has morphine in it so will show on a test? -

Let's not forget this is Speedway. It's probably the most basic of tests and the thought that there would be any provision to take a blood test at the Track if a result on the basic test warranted it is frankly hilarious. The sample will be sent for further testing but once again, this is Speedway so I doubt its anything like the depth / quality of the investigation of say professional football, Rugby , Cycling , Athletics etc. Would Speedway even have a list of permissible counter drugs etc. Whatever the outcome Speedway needs to really improve drug testing massively. There are historically many cases of recreational drug abuse over a long period where a blind eye has been turned on too many occasions, some offenders indeed have been eulogised as "charachters" and given some form of legitimacy. You either have a zero tolerance policy or you dont and until you do the Sport as a whole is living in cuckoo land. If he has taken a recreational drug he deserves a severe ban, if he hasn't then I doubt the testing will be strong enough to completely exonerate him. If he is found guilty then I would suggest mandatory random testing at every track at least once a month to if you'll excuse the pun, weed out the problem. Finding one guilty every 4 or 5 years is not a proper drug testing policy it's paying lip service to a known problem. -
I guess it depends which team it is... If Worrall and King got injured, Lawson got locked up, the Cooks got deported for visa irregularities, Kemp lost his strength when he had his hair cut and only Ablitt was left old Matt would be on the phone from the chateau and get dispensation for 6 for a few months.
