Wednesday 7th September - play off - Poole v Plymouth
HGould replied to TrainDave's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Maybe the BSPL could have considered the relative strength of Brummies and Cradley tonight and sought to avoid a clash in dates given that Plymouth are very restricted in terms of Guests in play offs anyway Of course Danny Ford refused and insisted it was ridden tonight which is his right and prerogative. If the match takes place it could render 2nd leg irrelevant. Just as important will be up to referee to ensure conditions are safe for all competing. May be if certain riders hadn't asked for 3 grand a meeting or others who wanted to ride for sensible sums mot been stopped by the management committee earlier in the season like Thomas Jorgensen, it would be such a potentially farcical outcome. -
I am happy to be corrected but I understand the biggest issue that some have touched on is the water table there. There's a tidal river right by the track and that creates a big problem at high tide periods in March and September and the majority of the moisture is from underneath and not above. I guess some daming or even looking eventually for a new site may be the long term answer with sea levels rising.

The one trait if a bully is that they don't like to be stood up to and outed. You are a Bully Im quite happy for you to block me as you certainly can't enter in to any form of rational debate. I'm quite happy to stand by my record as an overall constructive and fair minded poster prior to standing up to the bullying of me and others by you and your sycophants. I'll not bother replying to any response as by blocking me you won't see it actually will you!

Ypu seem to have this bizarre notion that it can rain for a week but the minute the sun comes out it's ok to play. Stuff the riders safety Stuff supporters and the spectacle Speedway on a dangerous MX tracj Win at all costs money the only motivation. Steve Shovlar Mr Poole Speedway Club Ambassador living the Poole / Ford / Middle "ditch" dream.

It's been crystal clear for 5 days that both matches would be in serious doubt, if all but the fantasy forecast in Shovlar big head, were accurate and they are. Poole has 100% forecast of heavy rain and thunderstorms over the next 48 hours. Comments made that the team with preference pick can call off a 2nd leg if it is now the first leg are complete hogwash Maybe king canute can give us an example of when this ruling has ever been enforced whilst he's trying to stop the floods. So much drivel from the sycophants on this from Poole.. Utterly boring Think on too.. Forecasts for both areas over next 8 days suggest substantial rain on all but one of them. It could run and run. Fantastic electric storm last night and tonight over Royal Sutton Coldfield too... Let it rain let it rain let it rain

Interesting to see that even the crap and discredited BBC Meteo service have now woken up to what all the more trusted ones have been saying for 3 or 4 days Heavy rain sometimes torrential and high risk of thunderstorm in Plymouth and Poole from tonight until Thursday. Will Mr Ford be able to find a suitable date, after all he told management committee it had to be Wednesday 6th or nothing. Can't get the staff on a Friday allegedly. Plymouth will be fine... Any Tuesday will do. Will Poole have to forfeit if they can't stage before cut off stage for QFs?? Shovlar weather forecasting about as accurate as his match reports. Crap and biased.

I'm pretty sure they have a 9.45pm strict curfew and only allowed 20 something heats in any 7 day period or something like that. Fridays would never be allowed by The BSPL guvnor in CL as other Clubs will testfy. If you stand on the back straight the nearest houses are pretty close on a hill despite noise from the flyover. Why can't Poole ride any other days of the week as Mr Ford has claimed he can only ride Wednesdays or has he lied? Can't get enough staff on a Friday in September allegedly.

It's only logical really if as people have suggested Glasgow move up (their set up deserves highest level but they'd lose local derbies and I'm not sure the highest level is as interesting or competitive as CL) and if Edinburgh either can't get new Stadium sorted in time or more likely can't use Armadale for at least part of the season until it is ready. Then presumably Brennan as an asset would ride for Glasgow in top league and Pickering would need a Club in the CL too. Both then would have most weekends free for Poland or European International opportunities. I have to say whilst applauding everything Nigel and his new team have done that the losses he has admitted too very openly are just not sustainable in any sensible assessment. Ball park 150-200 k for 2021 has been quoted. Its possible costs may be cut more but I doubt either Brennan or Pickering would take a pay cut to ride for Brummies and may cost more than we have. I just can't see crowds rising substantially so the only option, which Nigel has mentioned would be to either bring in new Directors (he said two) or new Sponsorship (presumably by a new Promoter or Specialist - possibly Lee Kilby/ who is very popular at PB) Theres a lot of if's and but's there, IF Glasgow go up, if Edinburgh don't run and equally IF Brummies do run. I will enjoy some good riders on Wednesday and baiting the old enemy from dingle land and fingers crossed we will have Speedway at PB in 2023. Whatever happens Mr Tolley a massive THANK YOU, I suspect you've lost a small fortune and far more than envisaged and no one would blame you if you pulled stumps but as always no one sees the lots of things Owners and Promoters do right and just moan about dust and bumps and the occasional glitch. THANKS to ALL connected with Brummies in 2022. I haven't been to as many matches as i'd like, initially some by choice and latterly due to some unexpected family issues but its that time of year when you realise best to support while its there so I look forwards to purchasing a 2023 season ticket for the first time in many years and thank you for your efforts.

Actually you are COMPLETELY WRONG on that comment. Unlike Poole who started late' Plymouth if you check factually like I have just done have actually scheduled a TUESDAY Fixture every Tuesday since the last week in March! That is a fact. They ran 10 successive Tuesdays to early June. Had a rain off, on 7th June, lost Newcastle meeting on day before due on 21st June, rained off Glasgow initially on 28th June, rained off Redcar on 16th August and then Glasgow on 23rd August. Clear evidence of torrential rain on the 16th August and 28th June - (wasn't there an Arson issue for one of those meetings??) So their issues have rally been very late on leaving minimal chance to catch up.

Wasn't in any way referring to your question Rather the Poole originated innuendo winks and tripe that followed. I also hope Craig can come back fit and well, and lead Glasgow to some silverware.

Neil Given your experience and background. Don't you find it unusual, worrying that after Stuart Dickson resigned (from memory after a disagreement over what became the Rising Star project) that a Board that had been 5 members did not co-opt a 5th Board Member / Director? Would that in any business (not just sppedway) be a sensible quorum / number as then the chairman would have a casting vote rather than a vote and a casting vote in any 2/2 split. Not attacking RG at all as it would be the same with any Board with a Chairman with an even number of Members. Why not take the first step and apponit an independent Chairman - someone with a business background and an interest in the Sport but no Club alliegance at this time. A successful ex-Rider may be or even someone like Rob Painter?

It's not how you start its how you finish The damper and therefore deeper Autumn tracks will suit Charlie Wright, they can perm decent Guests for Riss and will always have 2 strong reserves perming Newman , Kasper , JJ and Jason. Redcar could just be peaking at the right time. Their track is actually probably just too fair to all so home advantage is not easy there. Good set up be great to see them win something.

So you could have ridden KOC Final v Redcar or Jubilee Final v Glasgow and Leicester. But you prefer to ride Plymouth knowing very few adequate Guests available to them due to Denmark and Alan Grahame meeting. Bit shabby that. As others have said, perfect example of why the sport needs independent oversight and governance.
